This is a Guide to Pheera. Since they are a made up species, it is important for me to offer necessary details for the player to have a full experience.

Basic Skills and Body [1]

The Pheera has three different coat lengths and textures. The torso is basically hairless, just a thin clear layer of fur. This makes Pheera more aerodynamic. Their legs have a short felt like fur to protect it from thorns. The face and mane have long, thick hair. It is to protect the face and the neck from branches, thorns, or an opposing Pheera. The mane makes it difficult for Pheera to be killed by a neck wound. Male Pheera have noticeably larger and thicker manes.

The Pheera has six legs, making it different compared to earth animals. The stride is fairly longer. The beat is similar to that of a horse, the front pair of legs move in sync. They are quick animals, and have two legs to spare, making life much easier when faced with melkah or stronger pheera. This also offers them an extra set of claws.
Very powerful jumpers, several can climb trees easily.

The eyes have no pupils. They often glow, day and night. The eyes are large, and circular. They have very good vision, and the lack of pupils gives them a scary look.


Females are usually 2 1/2 feet to 3 feet tall, about 70-90 pounds

Males are usually 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 feet tall, about 80-110 pounds

The base coat is all the same color, but the varying lengths and thickness' makes them look different.

Torso- lightest color
Mane- Darkest color
Legs- In between



'Tron' is a good example of the coat coloring.

Markings:

Markings are on the torso only, except for a few exceptions.

Spots/Splotches- Splashes of white or black on the torso
Coon Rings- stripes on the tail only
Tiger- Stripes on the torso. Must be the same color (but not shade) as the rest of the base coat. (Green w/ green stripes, pink w/pick stripes, but NO blue with red stripes)
White markings- can be white/black jaw, throat, belly, or feet.

Tattoos:

Tattoos are put on by the pack healer. only the lady, close relative, or a special pheera granted by the lady can get tattoos.

Tattoos a a pattern that is not natural. They a usually bright neon colors (no white tattoos)

Communication

Pheera communicate in noise and body language.

Tail between legs - scared, submissive
Whimper- submissive
Licking another below the lip- submissive
Snarling- aggressive, showing who is the boss
Hissing- Warning sign before a snarl
Howl- lost, looking for another packmate
Whistle- each pheera has their own whistle. Used during hunting, as it sounds like a birdcall
Licking the ear- i like you
Licking the cheek- i love you
Licking the bely- cubs?
Nuzzling- a welcoming greeting, usually between friends or mates

Cubs and Mates
Females go into heat in fall-winter, and give birth spring-summer

Gestation period- 1 season

Fathers watch the cubs until they are 1 year old, but can have multiple litters at once. Teaches the cubs to hunt and survive.

Mothers stay with the cubs at a minimum of 6 months, but sometimes stay the full year, until she goes into heat again. Just stays to nurse pups and hunt.

Litter sizes are usually 2-8, a few usually born dead or die before four weeks.

Mates aren't a permanent thing (especially for Ladys).
Ladies go through mates as often as they want.
Normal Pheera usually find a mate for a year, to have that years cubs with. Usually the male has to prove his strength by beating the female in a battle or by offering her a melkah. Females are pretty picky, and want strong cubs, which are fathered by strong males. Some mates last several litters though.

Males fight to be with the Lady, and she will often reserve breeding rights to herself to widen the selection of bachelors.
Permission must be asked to have cubs. She will kill or adopt any cubs that weren't born with permission.
