uhh.

i get trials quite often. xD

i currently have a trial of ptSAI.

usually though, i just use sumopaint and mspaint.

i find photoshop too complicated, cause i fail. but i can do pixels in mspaint, so i'm fine.

i had gimp at one time.. thats even more complicated than photoshop, imo.

I can't use mspaint, on Mac.

I have this paint thing that is supposed to be just like it for the Mac though.

When I use fill, there are a lot of pixels on the edges of the image that aren't coloured.

Any idea what's wrong?

on programs like that, if the colours aren't exactly the same (hex-code wise), the program won't fill the entire space. so if a single pixel (or a group of pixels) was a87aff, and the whole rest of the screen was a87afd, and you tried bucket filling the a87afd pixels, only that portion of the screen would be filled.

I use GIMP. It was confusing at first, but now that I'm used to it I think it's wonderful. Much better than paint.

Scanned images can be very hard to color because paper is never pure white. In GIMP, I like to use Color>Color Threshold, which allows you to turn everything to straight black and white.

GIMP
the brush isnt as solid. so if you make a line art, you cant just use bucket fill for the base coat. you have to use bucketfill, and then color in ever little dot along the edge. and then reline the whole thing

Paint
not to many options
you cant use layers to blur things

i usually to the lines on Paint and color them in on GIMP

I use GIMP ^^

I've figured out a way (via tutorials) that make coloring there so much easier and less time consuming than if you were to use MSPaint, so that would be a pro for it.

It's free (which everyone loves haha)

Some cons:
It's not as well developed as Photoshop and lacks some features.

A lot of tutorials are for Photoshop, which makes it a little harder to learn or do anything creative.

Other than that though, I couldn't live without GIMP -huggles-

Trent, you can use the pencil instead of the brush. The options are the same, but it's hard-edged. And when you use the eraser you can check the box to make it hard-edged. Personally, I almost never use bucket-fill for coloring.

I use Photoshop Elements. It's really easy once you get the hang of it.
