Title of Poem: Forever Shall Be Freedom
Type of Poem (if you know): free form
Topic of Poem (Horses of course, but what in horses?): wild mustangs, bliss of freedom
Why you want to enter: I love writing poetry
Anything else about your Poem?: nope
Please Type Your Poem Here:
Forever Shall Be Freedom
We shall gallop across the plains
The setting sun as a backdrop
The beat of our hooves echo across the silencing valley
Our manes flow with the soft tugging breezes
Silence you say
I think not
Forever is our joy radiating off of us
Freedom is the breezes calling our names
The sun warming our bodies
A cool spring we drink from
Forever shall be our freedom and freedom shall forever be ours
We will walk alone in this haven of glee
Canyons may form
Mountains may move
But we will forever be free in our haven |

I am Free
I will always be Free
The life that God gave me is free

Title of Poem: Songbird
Type of Poem (if you know): we'll see
Topic of Poem (Horses of course, but what in horses?): A tiny little filly.
Why you want to enter: Just for fun
Anything else about your Poem?: Not that I know of.
Please Type Your Poem Here:
Newly hatched chicks chirp, love birds fly away
My new name is Songbird, and Songbird it shall stay
When I run I fly with the birds,
When I sleep I nest in the grass
Like birds, my mother is there for me
and someday those birds will see, just because I don't have wings, dosn't mean I'm unhappy
I really don't care wich one you pick as the entry, they were both really fun to write! |

Title of Poem: I Tried to Save Them
Type of Poem (if you know): Eh, no, I don't happen to know.
Topic of Poem (Horses of course, but what in horses?): Wild horses, but with a tragic twist.
Why you want to enter: For fun!
Anything else about your Poem?: I thought it would be fun to tell a story in a poem. I think it turned out good.
Please Type Your Poem Here:
I tried to save them
It was early in the morning, the dew glistening like gems
We heard the plane before we saw it
And though we ran we had not the wit
To escape the cursed thing that dogged us
I led my band into the canyons, but we ran right into a mess
Men stepped out from behind the boulders
As they fired their weapons my heart grew colder
My rage and despair taking flight as my mares dropped around me
Squirming in the dust, dying alone but free
I shook my tangled mane and screamed as only a stallion can
I lunged toward the men, my teeth lashing without a plan
A bullet bit into my shoulder, another sinking into my ribs
I tried to kick out, but my strength had left me
I started to fall, but did not agree
I tried to get up, my rage knew no bounds
But my mind went black, filled with blasting sounds
I went with the cries of my band
With my sons and my daughter and
Mares, so brave and once so full of life
I tried to save them |
