Well, don't they live in bamboo forests or whatever in real life? I guess that the creators of this game wanted them to live in a forest so younger players could get them. Wish that Jinxx and everybody would actually log on so that we could ask them questions like this.

koalas were brought into the game before the australia enclosure existed. at the time the most appropriate enclosure for them was the forest, which is why you find them there.

and Little Red, koalas live in eucalyptus forests. you must be thinking of pandas.
