I've seen posts of people leaving, and posts about how there are no good studs and nothing for sale
yet everytime I look there is a new user
I appreciate not wanting to overbreed, but as a relative newbie unusual animals are hard, and expensive, to come by..and if you manage to get something a little out of the ordinary there are no studs , ar they are very expensive
Not sure what a happy medium is, but given the number of users there are NOT a lot of animals available - like NONE in many categories
and not a lot of shows, either, especially for people just getting started
I also noticed when i started that it was hard to find good, clear instructions on some things -
maybe a newcomers corner, maybe mentoring?
not sure where i am going with this - there are a lot of things I like about the game, but dang it, I LIKE to breed in hopes of getting an unusual color or breed, and i like to show
so what else is there to do? I am a long way away from creating
thoughts? Comments? |

I know what you mean about the whole "not alot of animals available". I have been looking on the market for several breeds of animals (and keep in mind that these animals are not of high rarities), and I swear I can't find any! Good studs are especially hard to come by now days. It seems like everyone is doing private studding. I'm not saying that that is a bad thing, 'cause I myself have a few great studs I only do private breeding with, but it is getting ridiculous with some of the animals us for private stud! When I first started SBF, there was a seemingly never ending supply of animals up for sale and stud on the market, and it seems that the number is decreasing in time. I think it's up to us to start using the market page more, instead of just waiting for bids. I know it's something I'll need to work on, but I think in the long run, it would be so much better for newbies and long time players... Those are just my thoughts on the matter...

The reason there is so few animals on the market is because the marketplace is reset every month. I know I forgett to put my animals back up again and I'm sure lots fo other do too. I agree that this is a problem, there are so many species that you can't find unless you are willing to pm a ton of people. I definatly think it's a problem for newbies, how are the supposed to improve thier collections if the don't have any access to good critters?
As for clear instrucions, have you read the help section? (on the main page, not the forums) It's very helpful and really does a good job explaining the basics or the game. If you have any other questions you can browse the Need Help section for an answer or post it. As for mentoring, if you really want one, I would be happy to show you the ropes of the game! Just give me a pm Pretty much everyone here is very friendly, if you ever have any trouble just ask. Before you know it there will be several players offering to lend a hand. |

For obvious reasons people don't like to see their creations overbred, however a little while ago a select group of creators took the issue too far and outright banned almost all breeding of their creations, and encouraged other creators to do the same. Additionally at least one of these creators complained to the game owners that one of the main things causing this overbreeding was people putting their animals at stud for a ridiculously low price (not necessarily intentionally, this was usually done by new players who simply didn't know better) then leaving the game and hence never getting an opportunity to change the stud price to something reasonable. Understandably, this was a problem, but the game coders responded by having all animals automatically taken off the market after a month. While this helps to stop people breeding too much, it also helps to stop people breeding at all, which is an issue.
I also have an issue with remembering to re-post my males at public stud, so a lot of them just disappear off market. If there's anything on my farm you're interested in let me know and if I'm willing to breed it I'll put it up for public stud. |

i think its also a mather of geting over a limit, when your new then animal sale is a very good way to make money that mathers, after a while as prestige increase then it doesnt mather as much as it did originaly, and i know myself that most the time if i got anything for sale its because i am quiting an enclosure and selling it out instead of releasing so people can have a chanse at using the animals that are in most cases trained
other then that i have a couple times set up missbreeds for sale, but i got limited place on the farm and as such in most cases release animals i dont need imidiatly to leave the room for expanding on my selection (i am allowed 500 animals atm and have 490+, so as the collection grow keeping unneeded animals around is an increasing issue...i just dont have the time and space to wait 2-3 months on an animal geting sold as i did when new)
so i think in fact its several things amather
and thats just a few of the things, others i wont even bother going into because its not something that at curent can be done anything with so its pointless to spend time on freting over it |
