Just wondering if any players have had/are planning to get their WT out...?

I'm... Embarassed Just a little nervous about my surgery on the 23rd to get all four of mine out, wondered if anyone had thoughts they'd like to share on the subject? Good or bad I don't mind lol....

I'm not a big fan of hospitals and surgical procedures, and mine are going to be tricky to get out...They've been trying to crown for the last few years but theres no room so the upper two have started twisting, and the bottom left has fully rotated and is trying to grow horizontally...So my mouth hurts alot, makes me grumpy Laughing Will be glad to be rid of them, but not keen on the process...Plah Sad

I haven't had mine taken out, but I still hope you have a good surgery, and all goes well. Good luck,

Chilly

I don't have to have mine out for another couple of years ... so says the dentist from looking at a 3 year old xray *shrugs* I guess they can tell from that Laughing

Hope everything goes well. I -have- had dental surgery and had teeth that weren't quite in yet removed (other molars I didn't have room for as a 4th grader (can't do math Laughing )) and it went fine. The only problems I had was from the stupid anesthesia I think ... and not being able to eat solid foods due to pain kinda stunk too Confused

Its going under the anesthetic that worries me...Last time I had surgery, I didn't react well to it....But he can't do it under local so I guess I just have to toughen up lmao...

I'm looking at the after period as being good for my health....No pain, and all the custard I want Very Happy

Good luck, Vitani! I hope everything goes well. I can't have my Wisdom Teeth pulled out until I get my braces off. Which won't be for another year and a half. Well, just wanted to say, good luck! Very Happy

I had mine out a few years back. Two were impacted (sideways). The procedure itself was nothing...got knocked out...didn't remember a thing. I could have been the poster child though...I didn't swell, didn't need any of the pain killers they prescribed me, and went to the movies three days later lol

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. Smile

Thanks everyone...I feel better, with all the support...

Funny how a few assurances from people you've never met can help quell fears isin't it?

This is why I love SBF, and all its players Very Happy

I am getting mine out in two weeks so probably around the time you are, Vitani. I am also kind of worried, but just think how many surgeries these oral surgeons have done, so I would imagine not much could go wrong.
Almost everyone I know has had a problem-free surgery, so that's comforting. And depending on how old you are (don't worry, I don't want to know) it's easier to recover and they are easier to take out. the younger the better.
anyway, I am rambling. I wish you luck..and I wish me luck..if that's even possible. haha You'll do fine. Very Happy

I got all 4 of mine (all impacted) out last year. The procedure itself wasn't bad at all, all I remember is talking with the nurse and then waking up in the car. The first day wasn't bad al all, but by the second day my mouth started to hurt pretty bad, but the painkillers thay gave me worked pretty well. One the third day I swelled up like a chipmonk, but by the end of about a week I was back to normal again.

My biggest sugestion would be to have a lot of soft food. I practicly lived off of pudding and rice crispies for a week lol. Also since yours are impacted like mine were, make sure you use the squirter thing they give you to get any bits of food or stuff out of the holes they took you teeth out of. It sounds gross, but its really imprtant to keep you from getting an infection.

Don't be worried, you will be fine *hugs* Very Happy

I had mine out last month, but only the bottom two. One on top never formed and the other one is under a bunch of bone. My experience was pretty similar to Queso's. The pain was pretty much just a dull aching, but the painkillers worked well.

The only thing was that I reacted to the anethesia and got flabitis, lol, or inflammation of the vein. So it got all hard and I had to take ibuprofen for it. Unfortunately, it didn't work and the vein is still kinda stiff even now. The surgeon said to go back if the treatment didn't work, but I don't want to...doctors scare me and it's not really that bad, it just hurts a little. Plus, you can trace the vein all the way up my arm. There's like a bruise along it that is still there. I'm still hoping that will go away. But anyway, the procedure itself isn't bad. Smile

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you or anything, just telling you my experience. I'm sure my case was pretty rare, too. Anyway, good luck and have fun eating all that custard! Very Happy

I don't have to get mine taken out, but my friend did. It really wasn't too bad for her, she just hated not being able to eat solids or drink through a straw for that short period of time. I did have dental surgery once too, would tell u all about it except for that it's REALLY long and kinda hard to explain. *Shudder* I hate needles.....well, Good luck! Smile
