New and Confused

Okay, normally I like finding the answers myself so I read the help files for getting started and... it still doesn't make sense to me. The Getting Started part, I felt, didn't really tell me what to do. I felt like I was reading it and trying to grasp sand. So I went through some of the threads here that I thought might help me (since they're written by people who have no clue too and the answers are much simpler) and I got a few things; like building a house for your animals and stuff so you can get more different types of animals. So I made a rodent house and got some Jerboas from the rescue.

My real question is; how do I start now? There's too much information everywhere and my brain is going to short-circuit. Am I supposed to build the houses all at once, or one at time? Even then, and I buy some pets, what do I do with them? What's these exams and how do they work/ie. what's their purpose? I read how to get money, but is it easier then it sounds to get money when you begin, or do I need to be a money wiz to survive?

A buddy who I could bug with questions would be nice. XD lol Then I wouldn't need to plug up the boards with all of my questions.
