When I came home from my dads yesterday at 6 and went round to my bunnies runs, my mum said Nia had hurt her leg. So I went to see and she won't run on it. My mum had only just noticed it. It is swollen on both sides (bottem and top) of the lower part of her left back leg. We couldn't get a closer look coz it was my stepdads 50th party. But while giving her, her supper last night I could see that she could stand on it lightly but wouldnt walk on it.
I'm going to go see her in 30mins and see if she better, if not she will have to go to vets.

She is in the same condition today but her foot isn't swollen on closer inspection. It was because all her fur on her other foot has been squished down coz she has had all her weight on it. We are going to take her to the vets tomorrow if shes still limping as it would cost a fortune today as its emergancy vets on sundays. |

i am not lie-ing i am a pro i am a head vet and u should take her to the vet before it gets any worse if u wait a week she has a 50/50 chance of die-ing just so you know she might die if u don't hurry and it might take just a shot and a tiny bit o surgery |

She hasn't broken her foot as she has been standing on her back feet washing. She is going tomorrow that isn't a week a way. It does not hurt her when she moves it as she does not flinch or yelp.
How do you know whats wrong with her?? You haven't seen her have you! We think she has sprained it coming down her ramp. She is eating as much as ever (almost eats my fingers off too when she has treats) and pooping fine. |

Well I just got back from the vets and your diagnosis is completely wrong, she has broken a bone in her foot. But she would not have died after week infact we have been told to let her leg heal by itself. So no surgery, no shot. We are just giving her metacam.
It will be 2 weeks before she can stand on it and take 3months for it to heal properly but she should be fine. |

Is it kind of like a hairline fracture then? If it is a clean break will it heal straight on or is there a chance that it might heal off center? |

...Most professionals of any kind, regardless of profession, don't type like 12 year olds. Just my observation of those wanting to be taken seriously.
Anyways, glad to hear the bun will heal on her own. Make sure she gets enough exercise (she should be getting 2-3 hours out of the cage every day anyways) to keep her muscles strong and able to support her. I've seen cases where the results weren't so positive...lots of amputated limbs in rabbits because of broken legs. Do you know what caused it? Is she on wire flooring or did she fall? |

Just come back from holiday and she is improving and can put full weight on it when sitting. We don't know how its broken coz the vet didn't do an x-ray coz he was sure it was a break.
We think she did it out in her big outside run coz she was out in the sun when suddenly it started pouring it down so she spooked and ran around madly.
She has been going out in her large run attached to the hutch in all weather and in the outside run when the grass is dry. |
