Very Disturbing..

As I was driving home from tennis, I saw something that disturbed me and I will NEVER forget it.

It was a normal drive home, I listened to music and drove. But then.. I stopped and saw an animal in the grass.. I thought it was a racoon or something but it looked sort of weird. So I turned around and went back to it, My fellow SBF people do you know what this was!? It was a beautiful, young dog laying on its side! It was dead. It was right in front of a House and the owners did not do anything about it.

The death of this dog was unknown, you can take your guesses. It did not appear to look hit by a car, I think the owners poisned it. What didturbed me the most is that NO ONE DID ANYTHING ABOUT THIS! I was just driving in a car in the middle of a Highway so what could I DO? As I right this SBFers tears are in my eyes just knowing this little dogs life is gone. I found this very disturbing and we are reporting it so dont worry.

I completley agree.. I love my dog, Sage as much as I love anyone else. And my five fish, Bob,Twinkle,Tycoon,Splash and Stripe.

was it on a leash? while its easy to jump conclusions there may be other factors unknown

if they poisoned it it would be easy to discharge of the evidence, and unlikely they would leave a dog to lay rot infront of their own house, some very few people dont have the care in them more then to do so, normaly people who do such things would disperse of the evidence

or so one would think, the dog could have wandered there itself, it could be poisoned by neighbours, the owners could be unaware of the death...basicaly there may be many reasons for the how and where

however if the death was caused deliberatly then it would make sence that the dog had been dispersed of, unless the house it was infront of otherwise indicated neglecting no caring persons

It was not on a leash, And it was in front of a house. It looked like it had no injuries so maybe neighbors did poisin the dog, who knows.

nods or it can have come from practicaly anywhere and not even belong to that house at all with the lack of leash to tie it to the house, and presumable fence as well as you notised it, which would been harder if there was a fence

which means it even if it was runing around could have goten unintended poison in it used in someones yard or somewhere to kill rats...or have eaten poisonus plant in its curiosity to explore etc

basicaly without talking to anyone there is no way to know how the dog died as it seemed healthy like you said

as well as no way to tell why it was where it was, hopefully police will be able to figure it out so that either if the owners are responsible they can be held acounted, or even worse if it wasnt the dogs house and something unintended happened...that the real owners can be notified so they at least know what happened to their dog

its no good when your dogs is unintendedly loose, i know my parents had many long nights driving the roads listening for our dogs, while waiting for a phone call

its different when the dogs run off from when we release them, when we do that we got a plan, the time, and such they arent by law even considered to run loose but to be under a level of expected control based on the work situation...mom always call the cops as well to let them know when our dogs managed to get out, so that if anyone call there they know who's dogs it is

and well a loose dog is always at risk, things happen, we had dogs we sold that has died during work situations (drowned), as well dogs that died due to owners not thinking every senario of what a dog is capable of coming up with through (like one dog who hung itself trying to get out of the dogyard...we never have collars on our own dog when they are in the yard, dogs can sometimes manage if the drive is strong enough to either jump incredible heigths, or even climb fences)

as you said its terrible that its dead, however it will not make yourself feel any better by jumping to the worst conclusion...its sad enough the dog is dead, and there can be many posibilities to why it is dead and how it died *s* and it hopefully can make it a little less sad for you to think about that there always is a chanse the dog had a very good life, with very good owners who loved it...but that a random strike of bad luck happened as they can, and your notification may lead to the ease of mind for someone out there who are dearly missing a family member

basicaly in a world with tragic, when posible try to look on the glass as half full and not half empty

I have to agree there's no way of really knowing what happened, it could've been anything.
You said you were driving on the highway, correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like you didn't actually get out of the car to examine the body, so although there were no obvious signs of it being hit by a car there could be trauma on the other side of the dog or even a head injury that caused the death showing no outward signs.

A few months ago I saw a cat get run over and if I hadn't seen the car hit it I wouldn't have known what caused it, she actaully got up, walked off the road onto the grass and collapsed. I crossed the road to help her and she gasped for her last breath and died in front of me, the only sign of trauma was a tiny trickle of blood from her nose.
And if that wasn't upsetting enough I then checked her collar and there was a phone number, I had to break the news to the owner. Turned out I was standing outside their house when it happened. The woman drooped a pan in the kitchen which scared the cat ( who was an indoor cat) the cat jumped out of the window and ran straight into the road while the owner was still checking the back garden the cat had run around the side of the house.

That really does just go to show you cant jump to conclusions about these things.

On another note, it is very sad that the dog has lost it's life here's a {{{{Hug}}}} from me. This has obviously upset you, it's never nice to see something like that.
