This is something I haven't seen for many months, and i only saw it once, so chances are most people on here won't be familiar with it, but basically someone posted a thread saying they were auctioning off SBF cash for real money, and posted a link to the eBay auction. I didn't really keep track of it to see how the auction went, or how much play cash they were selling, but I was wondering if that happened again, would it be popular? So if someone were to auction off on eBay a ridiculously large amount of SBF cash, like $1 billion for instance, would people be interested? Would it even be allowed? And what sort of price could it fetch? (Don't forget to state currency) |

I used to think that wasn't allowed, but I guess it is. I know a few virtual pet sites that don't allow it, so I thought it was just a general rule. I bet someone would bid, but finding how to price it might be difficult. |

I remember that post, and I thought they were crazy, because it was hardly a good amount of cash, and I don't think anyone replied. |

depends on how you view it
tokens originaly only bougth by real cash, when you then trade token for sbf money which is comon, those who bougth the tokens have in reality paid money for sbf cash |

SBF cash is pretty easy to come by, it's value has gone down quite a bit since Sert had her auction. And I'm not sure, I think if someone notices a virtual game related item auction can now be deleted (I remember someone having a heck of a time keeping their vp (? think it was) game related auction posted. But don't quote me on the not being allowed anymore as I don't know for sure.
Personally, I'm past my spending obsene amounts of real cash on orbis game/virtual/video game auctions. I once spent over $250 on 3-vp sponsors, 30 gifties and 270 mil in play cash. No wonder everyone always told me I needed meetings of VPA. |

well some can afford it..i had things paid for me in games by alliance partners in the game who basicaly had such high paying jobs that they could care less as long as they enjoyed the game ..because he sponcors wherent even pocket money for them
vp is the only game i ever used money on though myself, but i figure the difference lay in who has the money and who dont have them for spending, a few years down the road i migth well done the same pending that i got my carier going, cause usualy upgrades and such dont when you compare it cost more then a packet of milk (which aint all that much) |

I'm 99% sure ebay stopped allowing things for games sites to be auctioned. That includes game money, upgrade points (tokens in SBFs case) and accounts.
The ban was put in place after some problems with people auctioning low numbered accounts and showing screen shots with the amount of game cash etc. that came with it but then clearing everything from the accounts before giving the buyer the username and password.
The only way it was allowed (I know Kah on FP did it once) was for the site owner to sell accounts and prove that they own the game. In FPs case the money was for the annual charity drive they hold so they may have been given special permission to do it I'm not sure.
This was over a year ago so ebay may have changed the rules again by now to allow it again but it's worth finding out. |
