Well, over the weekend, I have been at my dads. On the way back, my mum said that my cat, Fudge, now stays permanantly inside. I just said it was alright, and I wondered why.
Later that day, I had discovered why. My mum had got back from shopping earlier that day, to find Fudge sat in the garden with two cable ties tied tightly around his neck!!!!
Thankfully, and fortunately, he is alright. I was very upset, and just burst into tears, thinking how somebody could do that to an animal, a helpless, defenseless cat.
We have a good idea who it was. But, we have no idea why someone would do that. I cannot understand it.
Here he is now though. Happy as anything, and he is ok. My mum did cut te cable ties off his neck straight away. Just in time as well. If she were any longer then the damage could have been worse.
My cat is sooo friendly and loving. I dont know what I'd do without him.
Love You Fudge <33 |

sadly some people do things like this, and with kids it may be a trend that can develop to more serious abuse trasfering over to their own kind as well
in animal welfare class we learned that a lot of those who do abuse crimes on humans often started as animal abusers
if you know who it is, you should probably alert parents of suspicions so if they are descent parents they can have a shot at talking to their kids about this
presumig its kids anyway, adults i guess is another mather if they lack the reasoning then i guess the only one able to deal with them would be cops |

I know people do this, and its awful!
Me and my family dont think its a kid or a gang of kids, but we are sure it is my next door neighbours. There are 2 of them, and they HATE cats, and us, and they know its our cat.
They have also tried poisoning our dogs as well. Now we can't even let them outside unsupervised. I mean in the garden. Yes, they chuck things into our garden!! |

i'd try and hide in window behind curtains with a cam and get it on tape, then go to the police
specialy if you live in one of those cities over in the states with a own animal police department
so basicaly get something done about it, because its illigal, so if you can get proof on it you should have a strong case to get something done about it and get them fined or whatnot
if they already dislike you it wont sour the relationship anyway, but it may give them something to think about that you wont put up with it, and that its going to dig into their pockets to keep it up |

I have the cable ties, but the police/animal cops, over here in the U.K we have the R.S.P.C.A. But I don't know how to go with it because anyone could just cut a few cable ties.
But we have had problems with them for years. We're just fed up now. |

well report suspicions and what you got, better then nothing, then you can start building a track record
even if the cops dont do anything more in the first start then talk to them who knows that may help, if not as said you can start a track record, and when it become severe enough and long enough maybe they can be charged with haressment if nothing else and be slaped with restraining orders or whatnot...as well as paying fee's and whatnot
if the consequenses become severe enough and expensive enough they may give it a rest, as well in most communities talk go, so if the cops start runing down their doors, and what they do become known the talk and reaction of people around them towards them may help the cause as well |

Yeah. I understand.
Well, I certainly will chat to the police about it, and I will keep a record, because as I said, this is not the first time they've done something bad, however, this is the worst thing they have done. So far anyway.
Anyways, I hope something happens about it, and we're not going to go quiet on it, they have well and truly crossed the line. |

more what i ment was establishing a record in the police, ie by reporting it each and every time they step out of bounds
the longer the list they establish there the better, instead of droping it all in one when things come to blows so claims of make up is made, you should report things as they happen so that acurate proof can also be preserved if the police want in proper time |

Okay. Well I'll start from now, and a few other things that have occured over the last few weeks, but I dont think its a good idea going way back into the past with it. Like you said, I'll record it with them now, and anything else that happens. |

nods if the cops call them and warn them off for some it may be enough, so i hope that
if not as i said if this is a frequent thing, try see if you cant outscheme them and get them on tape throwing stuff into the yard, and then call the cops so they can see whatever was thrown in where it landed, and hand over the tape with them on
like said if you cant get them on animal cruelty, then get them on harasment...either or, whatever will help |

It's terrible that people can do this.
Unfortunatly the R.S.P.C.A don't really want to know unless publicity follows (just my findings).
And my advice....Yes definatly inform the police as and when things happen with your neighbours and get a INCIDENT NUMBER from the police. Most of the time they say they've documented things and they havn't. If you insist on a incident number then the complaint will HAVE to be documented for the police to give you one.
I have had dealings with police and my neighbours and when I've phoned again to complain they have NO record (Needless to say I learnt from my mistake)
I truly hope you can get something done about this hun, good luck |

Well, we've spoke to the cops, all they said was to, as you guys have said, keep a record as and when things happen. I don't know what action has been taken as yet with *them*. But they will get back to us.
PinkStar, you must be joking! My mum loves him as much as I do. If she heard you, she would be quite unhappy. Anyway, why would she do it,IF she did it, and I know she didnt, why would she then cut them off his neck?? Hmm?
Cecilia, the sad thing is that cats don't actually harm anyone or anything. But *they* used to hit my dogs with brooms, when they could reach them over the fence, but since then we put a 6 foot fence up. Reach them now!!
mash.. none of the problems we have had with *them* has been this bad before, so we didnt think the R.S.P.C.A would be a good idea after all..
And I know what you mean by the police doing that, as 4 years ago, a knife crime happened at primary school, and the police are yet to still get back in touch with us about it. But yeah, we are aking every effort to stop this. Thank You For Your Advice. Much Appreciated. |

nods as said it may be hard without dead hard proof to get them to angle it on animal abuse some places, depends on local resources and whatnot really
however if you cant get them that way try to get them on harassment by making sure the cop get notified each time, and if its a problem over there like mash said it may be, then do ask for the incident report
when you have enough of those then you probably should be able to enforce some action be taken, and ask that you want it treated like harasment of you guys leading to animal cruelty and try get a restraining order or whatnot
when you got that then when you call the police about things like that they have to take it as a viloation of the restraining order which should be another mather all togheter
asumably anyhow, its the best idea i could come up with, dont have legal knowledge as such, but it sounds like it should be generaly doable by logic in my head...so at least would try...also potentialy talk to some free justice help about just how to build up towards such a thing, so you are sure you go about it the rigth way and get everything in place for it |
