to get my computer back and be able to do the things I'm used to online. The money I'm not spending on orbis has been going into my fish...addiction..

Freshwater Angels and guppies. I've joined The Angelfish Society since my computer went down. I've been looking into the International Fancy Guppy Association. I have tanks set up waiting on angels to pair off and I've gone beyond my local fish store guppies and have purchased special strains from breeders. I already had 13 tanks and picked up two more today.

*shakes head*

I used to have veiled Angels. I have two tanks full of mixed Fancy Guppies. I have a 20 Gal full of females, a 10 Gal full of the babies, and two small 3 Gal tanks where I keep the two males I currently have. One has a red tail the other has a multi-colored tail. I also have 3 algae eaters. I've had fish for many years. Very Happy

I miss not being on like I used to be too. And I've been into vp chat withdrawal since my computer died. *twitch*

I'm sure my fish don't mind, they've been getting extra spoiled.

I've had fish on and off for over 20 years, but usually a tank or two.

Right now I have (Angels):
Double Dark Black Standard Fin
Dark Marble Standard Fin
Gold Marble Veils
Gold Standard Fin
Silver Veils
Silver Ghost Standard Fin
Gold Pearlscale Standard Fin
Platinum Standard Fin
Blue Blushing Standard Fin
Dark Leopard Veils
Dark Lace Zebra Veils
Silver Pearlscale Standard Fin

Guppys:
Mixed varieties -store bought
Two Pair Medusa Galaxy (expecting another trio next week) -
Coming in with the Galaxies are Dark Purple Moscows (Reverse Trio (2 males and 1 female)).
There's a few Galaxy fry in their own grow out tank and I have a mixed bunch of fancy fry in another tank.

Course, none of that includes my Ryukin and Oranda Goldfish, the bettas or the tetras.

I had a beautiful gold veil pearlscale Angel at one time. Fish can be rough to keep though if your tank isn't just so-so or the water. I have had various types over the years from goldfish to bettas. I had considered breeding Bettas at one time, but the local stores around here won't buy from private 'breeders'. I've had Zebra Danios breed, which is the only egglayers I could ever get to breed. I have had absolutely no luck with Mollies, though. I bring them home and they die. So I just don't put the money out for them.

I feel so un-informed... I just have two nice Angels in a community tank. Have no idea what kind they are....

:::sigh::: I've got a cichlid-diction, myself. Africans, specifically - Malawii and Tanganyikan, in that order. I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally miss my tanks... :::mutters something obscene about the divorce that caused it:::

Good for you, Jinxx - have fun with your new fish!

I like cichlids too, I want to set up a tank with Neolamprologus Brichardi. Maybe once I have tanks moved and organized better for keeping my guppy strains seperated.

lol, Galen. I'm only just learning about the varieties of Angels. Most of those posted are from breeders so not only can I see their phenotype (what variety they look like), I know their genotype (genes) as well. Not that I would have if the breeders hadn't sent them to me when I purchased from them. The Angelfish Society has a nice phenotype library I believe is available to non members to look at online. Smile

I was into Swordtails for a while. But now I can't seem to find them very often here in my area.

Jinxx, I didn't know you were into genetics, too! I thought I was one of te very, very few people that were. I'm well-versed in coat color genetics of cats, dogs, gerbils, and I know more than a little about rabbits, horses, and chinchillas.

How about that...

Horse genetics! w00t! I am a horse genetics freak. I don't know a ton, like some do, but I know enough and I inhale any article I can find on the subject. Don't know a thing about any other animal genetics, I'm afraid.

Well, we all miss you desperately here, Jinxx, but perhaps it is good that you've found an obsession in real life to take up some of your time. Computers are all well and good, of course, but it helps do be doing something outside of cyberspace.

I had some fish for quite awhile, I don't really know what they were, but we got freshwater fish and they were just too much work to keep. Especially since we had, like, 20. So I think we gave most of them away, and now I'm a happy small-rodent owner.

Allthough I still have one betta fish, which I love. They have giant personalities; mine begs for food. When I walk into the room, he will sink to the bottom of his tank and stare, depressed, at his food container until I feed him. If I pick the food up and shake it around a bit, he will swim to the top of the tank and flutter around while staring at the water's surface.

Such a suck-up. Very Happy lol.

I know a little about horse genetics, I'm far from an expert. Even though I've owned horses in the past (don't have any currently, can't ride anymore) most of the genetics side of it I learned through the model horse hobby (IPABRA - The International Pedigree Assignment and Bloodline Research Association) and I've been out of the loop for a while, just getting back into the swing of things after experiencing hobby burnout for 4 years.

I've bred/raised Chinchillas but that was a long time ago. I was pretty good with color genetics then but it's more of an Question now (way to long ago).

lol..I really don't need another hobby. Razz I do crafts (make/paint/sell)..though I've cut that down recently and sold all the silk flowers and beading supplies. I collect/customize/show model horses. Warm weather brings about yard sales and fleamarkets and I'll spend all day doing those, I have resently started into war-gaming/role-playing miniatures (my sis wants to get me involved in the gaming side of it eventually) but I customize and paint them for now. I've always kept fish tanks. When stress doesn't have me to the point I can't focus on things I love to read and write, and draw on rare occassions. Before my hip kept me from riding I owned and rode horses, I've since given my last horses to my best friend and her family as I couldn't see them being lawn ornaments any longer but I wanted to be able to see them whenever I wanted to. I have a large cabinet full of videos/dvds but I don't watch tv all that much, haven't for years. The only time I watch it now is if someone else puts something on (and I'm usually doing something else not actually watching the tv).

The computer is the way I can keep easiest contact with friends that live across the country and my sister who no longer lives around the corner. Stressful trouble at home I can forget about for a time while I'm online talking to them or spending time doing some of the things I do while on. I don't need the frustration of the internet/computer locking up on me when I am trying to do the things I use to relax because I can't work on the other things I enjoy until I do.
