Extra Credit story for school ^_^ meh I dun like it much though *shurgs*
It was the start of winter; a shadow cast its long sadness upon Earth’s ground. A silent whisper hung in the breeze as a tree cracked and groaned, upon a hill. The morning was cool and grey, with little mist clinging to plants that were left standing. A cave not far from the tree, hidden among the rocks, was where new life was taking place. A leopard, a leopard of snow white to be exact, had been anxiously waiting many moons for this moment. Her muscles shown through her pelt, showing that she was a powerful creature not one to mess with, and if it hadn’t been for the swelled stomach or twisted moans, she may have looked as though darkness had taken her soul.
The leopard thrust her claws deep into the sodden earth of the cave, and though the pain that gnawed at her, she pushed. Moments later the sound of helplessness was heard and a raven colored she-cub was born. Immediately the she-leopard took hold of her precious bundle and washed her down, then gently nudged her to her nourishment. The she-leopard again would thrust her claws into the earth where they had been before only to reveal a second cub, this was a male cub.
The cub was much smaller than his sister and had a tawny shade to his coat. The she-leopard took this cub and began to lick him in rough strokes, for he hadn’t breathed yet. In this life the she-leopard knew that many did not survive and as she gazed upon her tawny son she knew he would not have made it even if he had began to breathe when he was born, he would never make it past a season for he had been too small. Though it was a terrible thing to have happened the she-leopard knew she still had a cub left to bring to the world so saving time to mourn for her dead son later, she struggled for her final cub to be born. The last cub was born, pure white, and like his brother he laid still, the she-leopard was tired and another dead cub was not what she needed, but no matter how she tried the third cub stayed just as silent as the second.
Sadly the she-leopard looked at her sons; the misfortune of losing them both was almost more than she could bear. She was glad for her she-cub to have lived, but she knew she lost something with both males dying. Male leopards were rare and the fact that she had given birth to two, and they both die was worse than eating a bad piece of kill that would leave one miserable for days. Slowly the she-leopard rose from her birthing spot and gripped the tawny male firmly in her jaws; she padded out of her cave to the top of the hill.
Winter had not taken the leaves from the old tree yet, and the cool breeze teased at the leopards’ fur. The now slender she-leopard unearthed a tiny hole just about the base of the tree, placing her son gently down she pushed soil mixed pebbles over his tiny body. She then padded back to the cave to take the other male away. Stopping short of the entrance, the leopard swiveled her ears back upon hearing a mew. She bounded inside the cave, expecting to see her daughter fumbling about for her. As she entered and her eyes adjusted to the dim light, her gaze turned into misunderstanding. The pure white cub moved his tiny head about an inch and let out another shrill cry. Her son, he was alive, in a hurried pace she brought herself to the cub laying down gently beside him, nudging him to her. She never would understand why or how her son lived but he did and many moons later he would prove to be a strong, handsome leopard.
It was about six moons later that the she-leopard decided to have her cubs join her on a hunt. They pawed around her like playful cubs, when they see their first leaf floating down above their head. The she-cub was named Brenna for her raven black coat while her brother of pure white was named Dillion meaning faithful. Brenna overtook Dillion in size and speed, but Dillion held the power and intelligence. The she-leopard watched her cubs frolic for awhile only then she flicked her tail to show that was enough and it was time to follow her. Brenna raced ahead and padded beside her mother while Dillion stayed a little ways back to absorb more of the earth’s beauty. He watched intently as a butterfly landed upon a brilliant blue flower, collecting the ever sweet nectar. Suddenly his sister pounced upon the butterfly taking its life, showing her jubilance, of her first kill of the day. Dillion padded ahead leaving his sister to enjoy her own pride, keeping perfect pace with his mother now.
Brenna caught up finally annoyed with just padding around she hissed, “Where are they mother, this is extremely boring.” She flicked her tail in irritation back and forth.
The she-leopard calmly retorted,” Brenna hush or you will scare what little prey that hangs about away.” Brenna lowered her ears obviously irritated with her mother’s words.
Dillion cast a glance at his annoying sibling, who seemed to have drifted into a thorn bush for a reason unknown. Shaking his head he turned back to his mother who had suddenly stopped. Dillion followed her gaze and spotted an Asiatic ibex. The Ibex had not spotted nor sensed the leopards, because the wind was blowing towards them, giving them the better standards. Dillion lowered himself into the hunters crouch just as his mother had, he felt Brenna’s fur brush against his and she too was stalking forward.
Dillion was stalking on the left side not knowing exactly how far away he was from his mother or sister. He parted his jaws to taste the air and an unexpected scent blasted into his face and mouth, unable to hold back a sneeze, he moved up from his hunter’s position. The Ibex sensed him and bolted away even before a single cat could attempt to take him down.
Brenna was furious, and as she batted a rock she glared at Dillion growling, “What was that for you marmot-brained fool?” Brenna caught a scent of unknowing from Dillion and she soften her gaze on him.
Dillion oblivious to her insulting name replied, “I scented something unnatural off that way.” Pointing with his tail tip to the north, the direction in which the scent came from. The she-leopard hearing her cubs’ discussion lifted her head to scent, parting her mouth slightly to breathe it in. Her eyes grew to slits as she frantically looked off into the distance. She softly mewed, “Dillion, Brenna I want you to run, run and don’t look back.” The she-leopard stalked into a bush to hide. Dillion glanced at her suddenly feeling very unsure, but she only gave him a glare for standing there. Brenna turned to Dillion fear lingering in her pale eyes, Dillion brushed his tail against her to follow him and he bounded off.
The cubs were about half a mile away when they heard a loud noise fill the air. Birds flew up in panic, and rabbits fled by them. Neither Dillion nor Brenna had ever seen what made the noise, but they knew from their mother’s stories, that once a noise with the sound of thunder was made, the living would stop breathing and the world would come to a close. Brenna turned to run back, but Dillion jumped in front of her this time it was his turn for the insult, “Brenna you fool there is nothing you can do, you would be killed as well.”
Brenna turned her sorrowful gaze away from Dillion, and a clear trickle emerged on her face. Dillion rubbed his head against her face in comfort, knowing they shared a pain that would gnaw at them for the rest of their lives. Dillion knew it would have been the she-leopard’s wish to keep his sister safe so finding them shelter for the night he gazed up at the sky. A light rain fell while a cool breeze buffeted their whiskers.
Brenna sat close to Dillion their pelts brushed, “Dillion why, why did she…”Brenna was unable to finish her sentence for she was caught up in memories of the white she-leopard. Dillion did not respond but turned and lay with his tail curled over his face. His dreams were troubled as a glowing leopard came to sit beside him. The leopard reminded him of his mother but he could not be sure it was, she was lean and masculine, and her muzzle was lined with silver. She dipped her head in greeting to Dillion, who drank in her sweet scent, and in low tone she purred, “Dillion now is the time for you to learn. You are young yes, very young.” The glowing leopard gazed at him with loving eyes continuing, “You lived for a reason Dillion, you must bring back the peace that once dwelled between you and the creatures of darkness.”
Dillion looked confused by the strange words and longed to hear more but as he opened his mouth to speak, he felt a ton of weight be laid upon him. Blinking his eyes open he gazed into his Brenna’s eyes, “You great lump get off me.” Shoving her off him he stood and shook leaves from his pelt. Dillion thought it better to keep what he dreamt to himself, he did not want to upset his sister if the dream he had was because he was upset. He thought for another moment the creatures of darkness he was unsure what that meant.
On the third sunset of their mother’s death, Dillion was still troubled by his dream. Brenna looked at him and sharply meowed, “What is your problem you look like a lost cub.” Dillion turned abruptly to her and bared his teeth showing he was not in the mood for joking. Brenna shrugged and swiveled her tongue round her jaws. Dillion felt a stab of hunger and realized they had not eaten since the last morning. Brenna cocked her head and itched her ear when Dillion meowed, “I am going to hunt, stay here.”
Brenna narrowed her eyes growling, “You are not going anywhere without me, besides I am not a helpless cub, I know how to hunt.” Dillion gave an uncaring expression mewing flatly, “Mind me if you get hurt it’s your own fault.” Brenna hissed at these words and stalked after Dillion. After a successful hunt of a hare and marmot the siblings sat to share tongues. Dillion felt comfortable under the suns warm rays, closing his eyes he breathed in the sweet air, reminding him of his mother, and as a tear trickled down his fur he drifted away.
“Dillion” a soft voice called to him, he tried to run but he could not move for when he saw the piercing eyes of the glowing leopard once more he was frozen with deep interest. “Dillion, you must listen follow the star that shines the brightest and the use the strength and speed to find your way, you must create the peace before all is lost between us and the creatures of the dark.” Dillion’s eyes flashed open drinking in the sweetness of the glowing leopard. The sky was dark now and many stars shined above him, he wondered how on earth he would ever know which of the stars to follow.
“Brenna, Brenna get up.” Dillion prodded Brenna in the side to make her get up. Brenna groaned and blinked her eyes open. Shutting them tight again once seeing how dark it was she moaned, “Dillion it’s still dark out let me sleep.” Dillion hissed agitatedly, “No Brenna we have to leave, now.” Brenna opened one eye, “Now? Why now?” Dillion looked off into the night sky swishing his tail to and fro, “I can’t explain right now Brenna, and I just know we have to go.”
Brenna though irritated at her brother stood, “Alright, alright, but you better have a good reason for this, otherwise you will have a very moody Brenna.” Dillion shrugged off her temper, and stood, his white coat stood out in the black night while one could only see Brenna’s pale eyes. Dillion glanced at the stars they all looked the same to him but he decided to follow one of the stars with a faint glow that hung around it.
It was nearly two moons since Dillion and Brenna had begun to follow the star. Dillion had not even had the glowing leopard visit him in his dreams, and he wondered if he really was just imagining her. Finding a small cave, which appeared to be abandon, for the scent was stale within it. Dillion and Brenna barely fit inside together, they each had grown relatively bigger in the past two moons so the space would have only held one comfortably. Curling up together as comfortable as possible the two fell to sleep.
A low growl entered the cave and both leopards woke with a start. Dillion saw two hazy grey eyes peering at them surrounding the eyes was the slender face of a white leopard like himself only this was a she-leopard. Dillion gazed at the beauty of the she-leopard she was delicate looking, yet she was nowhere near delicate. The she-leopard revealed her teeth growling, “Who are you why are you in my cave?”
Dillion had been so sure the cave was not being used; even Brenna had thought it was not in use. Dillion carefully dipped his head to the stranger mewing, “I am Dillion and this is my sister Brenna, we are trying to follow the brightest star to set peace between us and the creatures of the dark.” The she-leopard looked amused by Dillion’s word and no longer seemed as hostile. Sitting on her haunches she retorted, “Tell me, Dillion, is it? Tell me how you expect to follow the brightest star? I mean I don’t think there is a brightest star.” The she-leopard tilted her head observing Dillion more than Brenna.
Dillion himself knew this was true but he didn’t want to be embarrassed by this she-leopard so he calmly sat, staring straight back at her purring, “Sure there is you just have to have really good eyes to notice it.” Seeing the she-leopard becoming more amused he added, “What is your name?” The she-leopard looked surprised as if she didn’t have a name but she answered, “I am Star.”
Dillion thought for a moment then repeated aloud, “Star.” Star gazed at him for a moment longer then turned away to Brenna who seemed very agitated, “Your brother, are you sure he is following the right star?” Dillion lay down wanting to hear his sister’s opinion.
Brenna could only hiss, “I don’t know what he is doing or why he is, I just follow him because he is my brother.” Brenna suddenly sounded very defensive of Dillion. Star narrowed her eyes in sudden disliking of Brenna, but she nodded and said no more. Turning back to Dillion she mewed questioningly, “Perhaps this Star you are following is not what it seems to be.” With that she turned and laid across the entrance of the cave, closing her grey eyes and drifting into a cat nap. Dillion tried to make sense of what Star told him, but he could not find any meaning within it.
Drifting into a deep sleep Dillion found himself back at his birthplace. He raced into the cave where he had been born expecting to see his mother, but when he arrived in it all he saw was darkness, there was nothing but a chilling breeze in it. Turning away with his tail drooping he picked up a familiar scent, a very sweet calming scent. The glowing leopard had returned to his dreams, and as she padded towards him he sat and waited.
“Dillion, you must follow the right star, your eyes will not be able to tell you but if you are wise enough your heart will tell you which the brightest star is. Once you figure this out you must follow that star.” Turning to pad away the leopard stopped and turned back, “One more thing Dillion beware the betrayer for they will do much harm.”Slowly the glowing leopard faded and morning light poured into Dillion’s eyes.
Dillion stood hitting his head on the ceiling of the cave, because he forgot how small it was. Shaking the throbbing pain away he padded outside to find that Star was gone. He did not know if the pain he felt in his heart was in disappointment that she had gone or because he figured out that he had followed the wrong star the whole time. Brenna joined him outside stretching her long limbed legs. Looking pleased as she gazed around she rudely said, “Aw that pesky Star has left.” A voice behind Brenna made her jump. “Well it is a good thing that pesky Star knows how to hunt and share.” There seemed to be a hidden message in Star’s words but the other two didn’t seem to pick it up.
Brenna did not seem to care that Star had heard what she said for she shrugged and padded down to a tiny stream for a drink. Dillion looked at Star and his throbbing heart seemed to vanish, he mewed a brief thanks and lay beside her to eat. Star delicately gnawed on piece of meat watching Dillion, from the corner of her eye. Dillion’s heart suddenly dropped, “The brightest Star!” he yowled in excitement nearly scaring Star half to death.
“You marmot-brained leopard what are you talking about?” Star inquired half laughing.
“You!” exclaimed Dillion, “You are the brightest Star!” Star looked puzzled, “Excuse me?”
“The glowing leopard she told me I had to follow my heart to find the brightest star not my eyes!” Dillion suddenly looked embarrassed and if a leopard could blush he would have been as red a cherry in spring time. Star looked amused and gave Dillion a friendly bat on the head, “Why would I be the brightest star?” Dillion had hoped she hadn’t asked that question but he retorted, “I can’t explain, I just know I have to follow you.”
Star gazed at him with uncertainty in her eyes, “I don’t know where to go, I don’t even know what you are looking for, so how can you follow me?” Dillion did not know how to answer this question, but he mewed, “I have to find the creatures of the dark, by following the brightest star.” Star retorted, “Well until you know what the creatures of the dark are I am afraid I can’t help you.” With one last glance at Dillion she pushed herself up and padded off to the cave
Dillion hesitated on following her, and in the end decided not to. He longed for his mother’s comfort, but knew it would not come, it would never come. Dillion knew he must figure out what the creatures of the dark were but he wasn’t sure how. He spotted Brenna off in the distance her black fur rippling as she raced across the ground. A raven swooped above her it seemed to become a part of her as it landed upon her back. Dillion thought this was strange ravens were not known just to fly so close to leopards let alone land on one.
Legend said that a raven and a wolf could be partners if the wolf allowed the raven, remembering his mother’s words of ravens and wolves shot into Dillion’s mind. Thinking more he also remembered more the ravens and wolves live in dark lands. The wolves were our ally until he came along. Glancing back up to where Brenna was Dillion suddenly knew who the creatures of the dark were. Calling out to Brenna, Dillion raced into back to the cave where Star was.
“Star!” Dillion’s sides heaved as he stopped by the white she-leopard.
Star widen her eyes at Dillion’s excitement, “What is it Dillion?”
Dillion still trying to catch his breath sputtered, “The creatures of the dark are wolves. My mother told me of them when I was a cub. The wolves and ravens live together in dark shadowy lands. They were our ally until something happened, something came and ruined the peace, I am not sure what it was but that is where we must go.”
Star narrowed her eyes at Dillion, “Dillion I can’t take you there, it is too risky. I am sorry I must be the wrong Star.” Star lowered her gaze to the ground. Brenna just then entered the cave; she seemed irritated the Dillion and Star were together and padded off to sit a little ways away by herself.
Dillion was annoyed at Brenna’s behavior, but dishearten by Star’s words looking back at her meowing, “Star what do you mean? Star please I need you to show me the way.” Dillion gave her a pleading face, but when he noticed the tear slide down her face, he stood and purring rubbing his head against hers, hoping to comfort her.
Star not seeming to have any emotion went on, “Dillion my mother and father were captured by the wolves. The wolves took them into the dark shadows, they tried to capture me but I escaped. If it had not been for me my parents would be alive.” Star hung her head. Dillion gazed sadly at her he wanted to say a few comforting words, but nothing came out.
Brenna suddenly stood and hissed at the two, “Oh what a sad story, I feel so bad. I don’t care about your past or your future Star! Ever sense you showed up things have gotten worse. I hope you two enjoy yourselves!” Brenna turned and pelted away. Dillion stood to follow, but Star shook her head mewing, “Dillion she will come back it would be no use to follow her now.”
Dillion glanced at Star and she purred, “I will take you but only because I trust you. We should go now.” Star rose to her paws and let her pelt brush Dillion’s as she started off. Dillion knew there would be a long journey ahead of them and with Brenna gone; things may be a bit harder than normal.
It was about 5 moons later that Dillion met with the glowing leopard again. “The road ahead may seem smooth, but soon things will grow hard and the creatures of the dark grow stronger with their new leader. Keep your friend close she is smart and will stay beside you.” Dillion was hoping that the glowing leopard would say something of his sister, but she did not mention her. Dillion awoke to find Star peacefully asleep, she had become a close friend in the past moon. Dillion stood to his paws shaking dirt and leaves off his pelt, gently licking Star’s head he padded off to get a drink from a nearby stream. Dillion gazed into the water at his reflection, the reflection turned into the face of his mother, soft and angelic, then it switched to Star’s showing every inch of her beauty, but then he got a disturbing image of his sister, Brenna, The black leopard’s face appeared cruel with hateful eyes, a wicked smile spread from ear to ear.
The image splashed into a blur as Star pounced into the water, spraying Dillion with water droplets. Dillion shook himself and playfully sprung at Star, forgetting the disturbing image. The two leopards pounced and threw water in the air with their paws at each other, until they both became exhausted. Star climbed out and shook her body and flopped down, curling her tail around her muzzle. Dillion clambered out as well, and he flopped down beside Star, licking her behind the ears. Star closed her eyes feeling soothed by Dillion’s repeated licking.
As sun high arrived the two leopards padded at a perfect pace, “When I was little, we used to come this way all the time.” Star commented glancing at the dead bushes, trees, everything seemed to be so grey and cold, “It was beautiful then of course, but once my parents were captured I was forced to leave.” Dillion kept his gaze straight ahead he felt very insecure here, and though Star said it was once beautiful he found it hard to believe.
A raven sat high above in a dead tree, watching, Star drew closer to Dillion, and he felt her fur prickled with anticipation and fear. A dark shadow passed in front of them, but had vanished before they knew what it was.
A black wolf emerged from the shadows, he had scars all along his body, and his eyes burned red, “I am Tyrant, why do you come here?” Tyrant did not look nor sound friendly. Dillion narrowed his eyes as he saw more and more wolves emerge, they looked equally mean but there was something hidden in their faces, Dillion could not place it.
Dillion dipped his head trying to show he meant no harm, “I am Dillion and this is Star I have come because-“
“Enough.” Tyrant cut Dillion short, “I know who you are and why you are here, and I am not the leader though so why do you speak with me?” Tyrant revealed his sparkling white fangs. Dillion backed away a bit and just as he opened his mouth to speak a daring voice was heard.
“I am their leader.” Dillion gazed at the owner of the voice and his eyes widen in fear. “What’s the matter cat got your tongue? Tell me did you expect someone different?” the mysterious voice sent chills up Dillion’s back Star stood beside him her fur ruffled. The pale eyes of the speaker looked upon the other two hungrily, hate poured from the eyes, and the once slick well kept fur stuck out all over. A cruel smile set upon the face of the leader as she motioned something with her tail. Two large male wolves circled Dillion and Star. They crept closer until their foul, hot breath was felt by the two leopards. The large wolves bared their teeth and lunged at Star. Dillion immediately attacked one of the wolves, biting hard into its shoulder. The wolf grabbed Dillion by the arm and flung him helplessly away. Dillion stood in pain just to see the two wolves dragging Star away, who was giving up a good fight. Dillion was about to spring after her to help her but the leader pounced in front of him. “Dillion you fool there is nothing you can do, you would be killed as well.” Brenna seemed to laugh as she growled the same words to Dillion that he had said when their mother had been killed.
Dillion hissed furious at Brenna, she was the betrayer; she left him to help the wolves. Dillion leapt at her claws extended, he met her with a full blow to her side. Turning him over she bit into his shoulder making him release a loud moan. Dillion managed to get away from under her and pounced at her again but this time he was met by a full impact of Tyrant. Tyrant’s hunger filled eyes gazed at Dillion. Hot breath spilled from the wolf making Dillion uncomfortable. Tyrant stared straight into Dillion’s eyes and growled, “She has been lost to the dark Dillion I suggest you leave, the spirit of Bane has taken over her soul. Bane is the wolf who came and taught us to be who we are today, now he lives in Brenna, she is our leader.”
Dillion struggled under Tyrant’s weight spitting at him, “I will not leave! I was sent here for a reason, and I would never leave Star behind!” Tyrant gave Dillion an amused glance and saliva dripped from his fangs, “Star is dead.” Lowering his head to Dillion’s ear he added, “You let her die, failure.” Dillion felt his heart explode into a million pieces launching Tyrant off him.
Dillion leapt on top of Tyrant, wolf and leopard became one, tussling on the ground. Brenna watched with an expression of liking, she watched as Tyrant threw Dillion to the ground. Dillion felt his life draining away from him, and as Tyrant raced at him he braced himself for death. Waiting for the killing strike Dillion found himself on the edge of a cliff, he wasn’t sure where he was, but he heard a voice, it came from the glowing leopard, “Dillion, don’t forget why your mother gave you your name, you are faithful Dillion, don’t give up.”
The world came back to Dillion in a blinding speed, and just as Tyrant jumped at Dillion, Dillion sprung up and gripped the large wolf’s throat. Tyrant’s eyes went to slits as blood gushed from his neck. He fell to the ground spitting the scarlet hate from his body. Choking on his blood Tyrant gazed up at Dillion, peace entered his eyes, and the great wolf shuddered and his sides heaved one last time, only the wind let his fur move once again. The blood made its way to the paws of Brenna who gave a disgusted look and stepped around it.
A hard wind began to blow and the rained poured down, lightening struck behind Brenna lighting up her black outline. Dillion lifted his upper lip at Brenna, and she turned and fled. Dillion raced after her hard on her paws. Brenna stopped at the top of the cliff Dillion had been visited by the glowing-leopard. As the storm continued on and lightening crashed into a tree splitting it in two, leopards’ white and black, brother and sister, circled each other. It was Brenna who made the first move knocking Dillion, clean off his paws. Dillion dodged her second attack, and was able to turn and pounce on top of her. Sinking his teeth deep into her back she fell and rolled over him, and slashing his face. A trickle of blood seeped from Dillion’s cheek, dripping into a puddle mixing together in the sodden ground. Brenna circled Dillion, and now the wind blew cold daggers at them, “Dillion you betrayed me, I did not betray you.” Brenna hissed
Dillion yowled back, “No Brenna, you betrayed me, you betrayed your kind, you gave you soul away, you’re lost in the darkness now, and you will never find your way home!” Brenna narrowed her eyes and shook the rain from her eyes. Dillion was standing close to the cliff’s edge now.
“Join me Dillion, together we shall be great!” Brenna tried to persuade her brother. Dillion gave a stern answer, “NO never Brenna! I will not lose my faithfulness to my kind! You are mad, Brenna stop this, it will never result in good!”
“So be it brother!” Brenna growled and ran full speed at Dillion, he did not have enough time to move, but before Brenna hit him a white streak flew in front of him and Brenna fell along with the white lump of the cliff. Dillion blinked away the rain in his eyes glancing over the edge. He saw two mangled bodies of white and black. His heart stopped for a moment then sped up; as he found a slanted part of the cliff he slid and jumped his way down. Racing to the white and black bodies, he stopped looking at the white one horrified.
“Star!” Dillion helplessly called her name racing to her side. “Star, get up please Star.” Star blinked her eyes open the rain landing softly now on her delicate body, she purred peacefully to Dillion, “Dillion it’s ok don’t worry, I’ll never leave you,” gritting her teeth in pain she mewed softly, “Thank you for letting me be with you for the time I had left, I always thought that after my parents died, I would always be alone.” Star coughed struggling to breathe. Her body was broken and Dillion knew she must have been bleeding internally.
Dillion lowered his head streams of clear trickles emerged racing down his face, he moaned, “Star it’s my fault this happened, I should have never made you show me the way. I am not what my name says, I let you down.”
“Dillion you were always faithful and always will be. You saved the darkness within the wolves, by not giving up, because of you Bane is dead, and he lived in your sister.” Star mewed less than a whisper. “I may have killed Bane but you are the reason I was able to.” Dillion lowered his body besides Star’s licking her ears he purred, “Star do not leave me, please, I love you Star.”
Star’s gaze softens and for the last time she purred, “I love you too Dillion.” Then there was a cold silence. A slight breeze blew Dillion’s fur and the last of the rain fell. The dark land shown with sunlight, the dark taint had been killed forever.
A white wolf with piercing blue eyes looked at the white leopard dipping his head he said, “Dillion you will be remembered among us wolves, and forever we shall hold your name as honorable and of course meaning faithful.”
Dillion too dipped his head to the wolf, “Thank you Radu, but it is my beloved Star that deserves to be always remembered.” Radu gave Dillion a pained look but retorted, “But of course.” Turning his massive head to two mounds of earth where Star and Brenna were buried, he added, “Star will always be remembered, even Brenna will be,”
Dillion dipped his head once more and stood, “Thank you Radu, thank you so much.” Dillion turned and left never turning back to look. |
