My little Kittie, rolled over and..DIED!!

My little black cat Niko took is last breath yesterday, We had our bad times when I was little and our good times when i learned he had a little life left, so as i am at the airport coming home, i hear he is dead but wen I got home the minute i walked i nthe door.. Sad

he.. Died.. Sad

I am extrealey sad bc i dont think we getting a new cat and I really loved niko!

How old was he? Had he been sick? It's tough to lose a pet, especially if it was before his time.

[img][size=9]Well,He got him for a hift when my parents got married so 11 years or so?? He had diabetes.. Its hard to lose a pet when you out of town but evenn harder to watch him die.. Sad

I really feel bad. Losing a pet is hard, and it is even harder for a cat that you had for a long time. I would be lost without my cat...I feel sooo bad!!! Sad

Aw, I'm so sorry! My cat, Alley, ran away and was gone for five weeks - being an indoor cat, we figured he had been hit by a car, starved or killed... Neither of which were happy, and luckily, none were true. He came back, literally skin and mostly bones (the doctor said he had about 1% body fat) and couldn't even climb up the three steps to reach the door. The weird thing was, he had no scars - he hadn't fought, and it seemed really unlikely that he had lived for five weeks on no food. (The really cool part, though, was that he came back on my mom's birthday ^^)
He was three when that happened, and had been estimated, before running off, to live until he was 20, being an indoor cat. He didn't make it to six. My parents both work, and I'm in school and my siblings are in college... He crawled into my closet and died, alone. I almost would have preferred him dying in my arms to that - at least then, he would have known someone loved him with his last few seconds of life.

And wow. I'm crying right now.

Sometimes I wish animals wouldn't die....but then again....that wouldn't work. Well, I just guess it's nature making her rounds....

Anyway, that was sort of weird, but I am sorry for your kitty, and you. Sad

Maybe, when the beloved pet goes off on their own, they are choosing their own way to let go. Perhaps, although we would rather be with them until the last breath, they want the serenity of solitude for that final journey.

Hope that makes it easier to think about the pets who have left without us there to help them in their last moments.
