Tip #1:
Think about what you would name the animal if it were yours.
Tip #2:
Ask for a family member, but stay away from contest makings. This will loose all your money over a name.
Tip #3:
Think about the colors of the animal. That could help.
Ex: If an animal is a grey of white color name it Snowy, Snow or maybe cloudy.
Tip #4:
If you want to make your names great, add a brand. I normally put ~TIC~ staning fot The Ice Caves because that's my kennel name!

It is good, but I would try and mention how some people put things like [B*Z] or Bezzella's before every animal's name. |

-nodnod- I suggest you can use parts from the parent's names/bloodlines (unless they're unknown of course lol)
Like say if the sire's name was Black Ice and the dam's name was Snow White, you could do:
Black Snow
White Ice
Ebony and Ivory
Black White And Snow All Over
Etc Etc Etc =) |

I know that I personally ( particularly if its an animal I'll be working on and presenting to the public ) take alot of things into consideration when naming an animal...
Often using its type as a basis...
For example, my titanium red Siamese "Saika Miyu" translates loosely to "vibrantly coloured" or "red flower"
My Bengal tigers have Hindi names....
Etc etc....
I enter naming competitions because a quick buck never goes astray, but I'm always more than happy to help people out if they want to really tailor a name to the animal.... Sometimes all it takes is a few ideas from a new person to get your own creativity flowing |

i like the totally random names, i mean look at the ones i have chose! The Lady In Diamons, Man In The Tux, Goldies Doras, Silver River Blues, etc. I like the long names because then the "kids" you can have more ideas for, like GOldies Doras and SIlver River Blues you cpuld ocme up with Doras River Blues, etc. i dont like the names such as Snow, Ash, Butterball, Too Cute, etc. What about origenal names like KIng Me, Sorry, Game Over, like that. their fUN! |

I pick themes for the names. Right now my rats are named from greek mythology, my mice from Angel characters, my rabbits after drinks etc.
It gives me so many options and with each species haveing a different theme I will never run out of names |

I usually put an adjective before the name I want.
If I have some sort of rodent, and I want to name it Harry or Susy, I call them Hyperactive Harry and Silent Susy.
I also have weird interests, so I'll name them after Odin, Freia, Thor, or Loki.
People who can't think of names just don't have any imagination. I mean, you can even get names off the tv, like Speedy Gonzalez !! |

you can also try googeling name generator, a lot of these exsist with different themes due rp need of names that fit into a story's setting, but people not wanting the same name as a main char, just something that sound out of the books
also with some 100 animals and not beeing good at remembering names i am strongly considering starting to add spicies tag's like
-Az- D Messy
brand - dog - name
to be easier able to find different animals in contract section when sending for training and whatnot :S |

I personally start every name with {DB} my brand and then Desert or Desert's. When I have my lines I try to theme them around say angel or a deadly sin. Also sometimes you can also make a name like fire angel then translate it into another language. It's quite cool and unique. It often sounds better in say russian then it does in english! |
