Ok, I'm finally done with my entry lol. I'm sorry it's taken me so long.

Title is Cherry Red. Photoshop, probably around 10-15 hours. I ended up kind of burying myself in this when my dog died. I just now realized I gave it her face in a way... some how its expression reminds me so much of her. |

That is beautiful Queso. Very heartfelt. As a dog owner myself I can recognise a dog-like expression in its face, although its appearance is in no way dog-like. Dogs are always very expressive in their facial features, aren't they? I know mine are.
Thank you for your entry. |

Yes daisy, yours is nice. Perhaps you should spend more time working on realism though. :] |

just send it in when you can then. your local public or school library probably has a scanner or equivalent you can use if that's adequate. |

Can't resist entering anymore. Brace yourself for a lot of reading since I can never seem to abridge anything I write and you can have an imaginary cookie at the end.
I didn't have access to a scanner big enough for it while I had it so excuse the glare, it was still wet at the impromptu photo shoot.
Prince version 2
and for reference;
Version 1
- Dimensions- Version 1: 14X19 (w/o the shuttles) Version 2: 14X18
- Version 1: Materials include duck cloth canvas, gesso, oil paint, man-made sinew, staples, gorilla glue, and two antique industrial loom shuttles. Everything on this was hand made, I went a little nutty and decided to do everything myself from cutting the canvas to hand stitching the sides with the sinew, no machines involved unless you count my trusty non-electric staple gun that scares the bejesus out of the girls in the next apartment without fail >: ).
Version 2: I wised up the second time around mostly because I didn't have the time to go overboard since I had a time limit of less than a week so it's on store bought stretched canvas also in oils.
Each took roughly 15 hours of actual painting listening to heavy metal for the first and watching movies with my brother during the second which could explain why one has slightly darker colors than the other, the wall scroll style one has from 6-9 hours of building/prep time that went into outside of painting.
- Title: Prince (aka. GOGO Prince Cobra)
- The first one you can thank my teacher for. I had a painting class last semester to fill up time and one of our homework projects he turned us loose and said go forth and create, just make sure you're done on time. For some reason I was fixated on creating painting surfaces that tied in to the subject of the painting thus the attempt at country western decor with the loom shuttles for a frame.
The second one came about because I always give the couple I board my horse with a painting for Christmas. The horse in the painting happens to be their Morgan gelding that is my second best buddy and absolutely gorgeous when he isn't freaking out. I couldn't/wouldn't give them the first one because I fell in love with it and it is mine, all mine, and secondly, I couldn't safely take it home on the plane since the shuttles make it nearly impossible to pack. So I decided that I could recreate it once I was home and make it better since I already had practice.
- Description of subject matter: The reference model is 'I'm too sexy for my saddle" Prince, an eleven year old Morgan, wondering what I was doing snapping pictures of him with the monster named camera.
- Inspiration for the work: I am obsessed with horses like nobody's business. I get whiplash anytime I drive past a farm. I think that speaks for itself.
Ok, I think that's it, though I could always find more to say since there's a horse in it (see above) |

i'm really glad you ended up giving into that temptation. that horse is absolutely stunning and i really admire your skill with oils. i must say version 2 is my favourite, but the extra materials in version 1 is fantastic as well. and I don't mind reading everything you posted.
thank you very much for entering this. i really love it. |
