A Couple of things to say....
Quote: | do you not remember how it felt when you got a specail animal when you just started? the happiness it brought you? the joy of saying finally though i cant have it in real life i have it here on sbf. |
Yes, I remember the first time I managed to get a good animal. It wasn't even a AE or Endangered. Infact it was a Extremely Rare dog. I was over the moon that I'd finally, after much hard work, achieved this. My next step would be a Threatened.
The point that I am trying to make (All be it badly) is that in recent times, the accomplishment of this is so much easier. Newer players do not appreciate the higher rarities anymore because they are so readily available. This is due to other, older player, (by older I mean been on here longer) breeding and breding these higher rarities and selling them for ridiculously low prices. Not only causing the animal to be less special, but also lowering the value of the animal.
This is one of the issues that the EBA are taking into consideration. It is not just about banning certain breedings. That isn't the point at all. But I for one get very upset when I see one of my creations being bred for no other reason than to sell the offspring, and this is without actualy teling me first.
One thing I don't understand though, maybe someone could explain?
When this club was first started, many of you, yes even you who are even now slating the methods, were behind us. You were helping us, but now all of a sudden, you don't agree with it? Is it because now you realise that you can no longer breed certain creations on the quiet? I mean not every creator checks their animals do they? Maybe you all realise that the more awareness creators have of the situation, the harder it will be for you to make some money?
I'm sorry if that sounds B**chy but that's just the way I see it at the mo. Maybe someone could correct me?
Quote: | mash, as usual, you and I see eye-to-eye. Perhaps that's why I see you as a pal here on SBF!

Aww thankies Amanda. Yeah, we've always had the same opinions haven't we? Maybe it's because we are actually older (year wise) than many on here, and our ethics are more matured. |

I remember when this whole thing first started. Creators were complaining about how some players were breeding ridiculous amounts (literally dozens) of their creations purely for a get-rich-quick scheme, and thus undervaluing the animals.
I, and many others, agreed with the creators that this was bad for the game and something should be done. Then Aljan made her Club, toting it as exactly what we were after, with all the same ideals. So we joined up. But then it quickly developed into the anti-breeding elitist club that preached much more than the simple and fair 'no overbreeding' policies. There is a big difference between overbreeding and just breeding, yet the new ideals of the club said there wasn't.
There was (and still is) a lot of support for the club's original ideals of no overbreeding and fair and respectful gameplay, but that is no longer what the club is about, and it is this that players resent.
A lot of the problems you are complaining about are ones of your own making.
"It is not just about banning certain breedings"? It shouldn't be about banning anything! If you pressure players too much something will eventually snap, and that is what you have been seeing lately. The things some players have been doing really do constitute harassment, and is against the TOS.
I just think you should stop flogging the dead horse and get back to fun, friendly gameplay, and return to the days when the game was so much more light-hearted, when players didn't have to worry about copping abuse every time they bred an animal, or seeing it happen to others every time they visit the forums.
Honestly, I give up. I quit this debate. You know my opinion on this. You know I think this is wrong. You clearly aren't going to see the other side of the argument. So be it. You made your bed, now you have to lie in it. |

I do beg to differ Misty. Again, I feel like I'm talking to nothing more than a brick wall, the EBA does NOT ban breeding. We just urge people to breed sensibly and WITHIN creators wishes. This is not only fair on the people who have forked out real money to create these special animals, but it shows good manners and consideration for other members. A issue which I find sorely lacking lately.
The point of the game, as has been so rightly said already, is to collect yes? So what challenge or fun would it be if ALL animals were so easily available that all you had to do was tootle off to the market place and buy whichever animals you wanted, without actually working for it? I for one wouldn't find that a callenge at all.
Everyone sems to be bending the EBA's ethics out of shape. I don't believe ANYONE has PM'd someone saying "DON'T breed my creation or else". Most creators, myself icluded will Pm people to ask that they steralize before selling or sell the animal back to the creator. Obviously I cannot speak for everyone, but that's what I do.
You all say that Odin was "harassing." But al I saw was her asking ASKING politley for her creations to be steralized several times. Then when the seller didn't listen or mouthed off at her, that's when she retaliated. I myself would probably have done the same thing to be fair.
I think it's extremely sad that this has had to be twisted like it has, because lets face it that's what has happened.
Some of the best creators, who I might add appreciated what we were trying to do for the game, have left for good. I myself will only make AE creations from now on, and yes I will keep the close to my chest, unable to trust people on here anymore. Most the people I trusted have left anyway, leaving one maybe two people on here that I would sell whole animals to.
And Misty, if you think you can do things better, then by all means have a go. |

mash, you hit the friggin' nail on the head... AGAIN. Thanks for making me not have to type out another version of what I/we've been saying all along. I just got home from work, and I swear I'm working on an ulcer!!!!
I'm at a real crossroads here, I'm going to be honest. Part of me is tempted to disband the club and just pursue my OWN interests here with my OWN friends within the guidelines I compiled from some of our our best players whether they're still here or not. It happened to the Creator's Club, so I'd be in excellent company. Besides, none of the tenets of the club were something I just pulled out of the clear blue all by myself, and I have tried to embody the ideals of the many people who have contributed, not just my own - they are really just an extention of the Golden Rule: do unto others, etc.
The part of me that wants to be of service compels me to try to add some incentives, to give people a chance to treat others with respect and REWARD them for their efforts. This place clearly needs some positive energy and revitalization, and I'm one of those people in the camp of "If I don't do it, then who will?"
*Post Script: I've had a little time to think after I got settled in after work, and I'll be darned if I'm going to sit back and watch the negativity here claim any more players or any more creations, if I have anything to say about it. I've received annonymous donations from multiple people that believe in the EBA's cause, some of them as they were leaving because of the DRAMA, and I think I know what I'm going to do with them... keep an eye on the "Club Announcements" board if you're interested in being part of a potential solution.
