"SandboxFarm Monopoly is a SBF-themed version of the classic Monopoly game, which has enclosures instead of streets, and instead of developing properties with houses and hotels, enclosures are developed with animals and herds. It is free to play, and prizes will be awarded to certain players. The game is played according to the rules of standard monopoly, but with a few additional house rules which are stated below, so please read through these thoroughly. This also includes a few modifications which were required to enable it to be played in an online forum.
The Board
Enclosures
The following links will show you the cards for each of the enclosures, which tell you how much rent is due. Mortgage value is half the purchase price of the enclosure, and no rent can be collected on mortgaged enclosures. Enclosures cannot be developed unless you own all enclosures in the same colour group.

Rules
In addition to standard monopoly rules, the following house rules apply:
1. A player is out of the game if they
(a) become bankrupt, ie: have no money or assets left,
(b) have insufficient cash to pay a debt, and do not rectify this (due to inactivity) within 2 days (48 hours) as stated in Rule IV,
(c) voluntarily decide to forfeit the game,
(d) have cheated, as determined by the admins.
In the case of 1(a,b) all enclosures, etc, are sold to obtain cash to pay off as much of their debts as possible, with any remnants going to the bank.
In the case of 1(c,d) all their money and assets go to the bank, they ca not nominate to give it to another player or sell it extremely cheaply or anything like that.
2. Players may take action such as developing enclosures, trading with other players, etc, at any time they like, but it will not come into effect until after the current turn is complete.
3. When negotiating the purchase or trade of enclosures between players it is up to the players involved as to what the prices are, but players must:
(a) only include monopoly money/items,
(b) not include SBF cash, tokens or animals,
(c) not charge 'mates rates', ie: severely under-price something just because you're selling to a friend, or you want to give a player a 'second chance' to stay in the game.
4. Any taxes, fees, etc players pay go under the Free Parking space. A player who lands on this collects all the money under this space.
5. To get out of jail a player must either use a Get Out Of Jail Free card or roll a double. If they fail to do this three turns in a row, they automatically get out on the fourth turn. No fee applies to do this.
6. Players may not obtain loans from the bank or other players.
7. Rolling a double results in that player getting a free go immediately after their current one.
Playing Online
The following rules and modifications have been put in place to enable the game to be played on an online forum:
I. If there is any debate or confusion about the rules, the final decision lies with an admin. If there is any debate among the admins, the final decision lies with me (Misty Glen), since I created the game.
II. The admins will keep track of how much money and which enclosures, etc each player has. It is recommended that you keep a record of your own assets as well.
III. The admins will draw cards and roll the dice for each player. Two six-sided dice will be used.
- If direct action is required, eg: buying an enclosure, the player or a member of the team representing that monopoly player has two days (48 hours) to make a response otherwise it is assumed they take no action.
- If you can't get on regularly it is recommended you join a team so that someone else can take action in your absence.
- To speed things up it would be appreciated if you specifically state if you're not taking any action.
IV. Landing on a space that requires a player to pay money to another player or the bank will happen automatically and will be tallied by the admins.
- If a player does not have enough cash to pay a debt, they have two days (48 hours) to mortgage/sell enclosures, animals, etc to obtain sufficient cash. Failure to take such action within two days will count as the player having insufficient funds, and hence result in the player forfeiting the game entirely.
V. If an admin thinks it may be necessary, players will be given 1 hour between the turns of other players to take any action they wish. Please let an admin know if you want it to be added in for all future turns.
VI. Game-related chatter is accepted on the thread so long as it doesn't clutter it up, but if it gets out of hand or off topic please take it to private messages." -From original Monopoly Game
New Rule:
There will be a limit to how many times the last player to roll passes go. This is invalid if you get a chance/community chess card that allows you to pass go without rolling again. |
