Zing slows down to a halt as Jake slowly slips off his back. "What do you think Zing, should we stay?" Without even nickering he starts toward the barn. "Ok, ease up boy... I know you're tired just let me find a stall."
We walk toward an empty stall that is cleaned out and a bag of shavings is by the door. Jake ties Zing to cross ties in his new green and white halter and starts to put the shavings down in a nice comfortable way for Zing. Zing sighs and lies down with his head straight up beause of the cross ties. "Zing! What are you doing??? Here let me get you out of these." Jake says as he ties 2 longer ropes to Zing's halter and takes the short ones off. Zing licks Jake's face as a thank you and then he falls asleep. Jake finishes up the stall by putting Zing's tack on the racks and unpacking Zing's saddle bags. He takes out his racing silks and Zing's racing head cover and hangs them on the door. Then he tacks off Zing's tack and grooms him. "Here boy, I hope you like the stall!" Zing gladly charges into the stall and rolls all around. Jake shuts the door and watches him laughing.

Angela finally found Jake. "Hi, whats your name? I heard you were new here. I'm Angela," she said in a friendly way.

Skyler loped the group over to this hill. It was steep on the way down, but there was a nice long trail at th3 bottom of it that was good for loping. She guided Brian to the trail, and leaned backwards as he loped down it. She laughed, having quite a bit of fun.

Summer suddenly felt stiff as Frequency headed for the steep hill. Cantering downhill wasn't a good idea. She slowed him to a stop, feeling panic rise up and down her body. "I'm not taking this way - I'll meet you at the bottom of the hill," she said, her voice quivering a little. She tried to push away the bad thoughts that came to mind from the steep hill. She steered Frequency down the flat ground that barely sloped down, and met Skyler at the bottom.

James and Emphasis met up with the others when he suddenly had the urge to check the time. With a soft curse he looked up apologetically at the others. "Sorry guys, I have to get back. You can keep going on without me, but I'm late," -he excused himself, keeping his chestnut gelding in check...

Trevor's mouth tweaked down in a slightly disappointed frown...

"Why do you have to go back?" Summer questioned lightly.

A slightly mysterious smile crossed Jame's face, as his eye brows raised. "A surprise. But don't let it ruin your ride," -he said in a dramatic voice, then chuckling a little as he turned the eager Emphasis...

With a final wave to the other riders, James moved Emphasis into a lope, heading back to the E.C. It didn't take long at this pace and they moved into the stable yard just in time to see a flashy white three-horse trailer pulling in beside an equally snazzy black Dodge truck.

Slipping Emphasis' saddle and bridle off, James stuck him in his stall, then jogged over to where the trailer was parking. Immediately, he could hear the furious screams and denting kicks coming from inside the trailer.

James winced at each bang, knowing that this was no easy task he was undertaking. Two men exited the pick up truck, one holding an ice pack over the upper part of his arm.

"Let's get this beasty out of my trailer," -the first man murmured in a thick British accent and with the two of them, they wrestled the two year old out of the back. James jumped to help, taking the cotton lead rope in his hands.

"Woah, careful there boy!" -the second man shouted at the rearing gelding, backing away as James worked to bring the horse back down to all fours.

The wild two year old was Xerxes, his deceased father's Anglo-Arab. Having been neglected for a year had turned this pedigree gelding into a nightmare...

Summer disappeared out of the trail riding group to follow James. She left her now even darker from sweat bay on the cross ties outside the barn, where James wouldn't see the parked horse. She watched from behind a tree as the crazy horse reared up. She felt concerned for James' safety...

James was able to use his weight to bring Xerxes down to the ground, and swiftly cross tie him to a nearby emergency ring. The young Anglo-Arab fought the straps and it was obvious to even the most equine-ignorant person around, that the horse had minimum human socialization, if any.

James approached the men, handing them the envelope containing the amount of money for transporting the horse.

"Good luck with that 'un there mister. He's a beasty fer sure," -the first man warned in a thick accent, nodding his head towards the struggling Xerxes, "He bit my assist' here while we were tryin' t' get the travel wraps on 'im." The second man nodded in agreement, and lifted the ice pack to show a large nasty purple bruise.

James winced. "I'm very sorry gentleman. He hasn't been broke as of yet," -James replied politely, though genuinely concerned.

The first man shrugged as if it was no big deal.

"Ain't no matter now. You jus' be careful 'round that 'un. Oh, an' he cut his leg up purty bad in the trailer. You might wan' to have that there fancy vet look at it," -the man replied and James turned to see what the man was talking about.

A sticky pool of blood dribbled from a slit on Xerxes left hind leg. It would heal though without permanent damage, as far as James could see.

"Thank you again gentleman, I'll take it from here," -James said, dismissing the two and they got back in their truck and left...
