Eye copying... we can look at your provided pictures for colors and proportioning though, right? |
Well, yes. What I mean by "eye copying" is drawing something exactly as it is in the picture you're looking at to reference. Like in the chart. Look at the chart if you're confused. It's referred to as "free hand copying" in that example.
For instance, you shouldn't draw something in the exact pose as the first reference I gave you, to the point where it's obvious--even to someone outside this forum--that you copied that lineart. My ref sheet not so much, because the poses are so generic--the proportions are off on that sheet anyway because it was just a quick sketch to get the markings down, so if someone *does* copy it they won't be doing themselves any favors....but I digress.
Obviously you're going to want to look at it to see the markings and colors, and obviously you may use that and other pictures to get a feel for the anatomy. But you shouldn't just be downright redrawing the reference. Does that make sense?
The chart again: http://pics.livejournal.com/ldjohnso/pic/000gq61c

Answered. ^_^ What you've got is perfectly acceptable, no worries.
Don't freak out too much over this guys, it's just copyright 101. I'm technically paying real money to the winners, so I want to be sure it's clean. I don't think anyone here has much to worry about.
*If* there's an obvious issue with an entry, I'll say something to you via PM, but don't worry too much about it. In that case, I'll still give you a participation prize for your effort and possibly even an Honorable mention, but it won't be one of the top three. |

Wow Trent that's fabulous the only thing I would suggest is making the muzzle a bit more fluid in it incline to the nose from the eye . |

Awww, that is adorable, Trent!
Yes, it will eventually be on youtube ^_^" I'm gonna be doing some of the art myself, but I can't fill the entire song on my own, hence the contests.
When she was young, she definitely would do something like that I loved butterflies and moths when I was a kid, and I'm still fascinated by them. Thank you for entering! |

Wolf: Thanks, but in the reference it looked like the nose and forehead was a 90 degree angle, so i figured i could just do that.

Linksage: Sweetness. What other activities does Selkie participate in? Its hard to make something appropriate to the character when i dont know what she does it was kinda a long shot to do the butterfly thing. |

Selkie is a bit of a loner. She likes quiet activities, such as art and reading. She loves the outdoors; she's fascinated by bodies of water. She's also interested in the night sky, thunderstorms, deep forests, and rain.
It'd be awesome if you could match it up with the feeling of the song, but it's okay if you don't. |
