So, I came home the other day, and my mom shared this news with me...

Does the picture explain enough?

Well apparently, my little siblings were playing outside, when they heard crackling in the brush. A large (I know he doesn't look big in the picture, but he's HUGE for a black bear.) bear came barreling through our horse pasture, chasing the two three year old horses. After a while, it turned on our German Shepherd, and almost got ahold of him, but then decided to head back up to the barn, to try and get a taste of sheep and goat. Luckily, my dad got out his gun, and this is the end result.

Both of the horses were wary to approach the bear, but did after a while, still a little nervous.

I know this picture does not make the bear look big, but both my dad and brother could not lift this bear. They had to drag it (with great trouble) to the four wheeler trailer. It was very, very scary news to come home to....

Lol, I love sheep too! I've raised them for five years! They are so sweet, just like puppies!

Anywho, it was completely freaky! I had to go hug my horse after hearing it, just to make sure she was alright!

That would have been scary, especially with so many animals. We have black bears on the mountains, they usually don't come down though.

Ya, sheep are the sweetest things on earth (not the brightest by any means, but definitely the sweetest!) I had a sheep one year that would sit by me and lay his head in my lap while I talked to him. He was such a big baby boy!!! (Now I miss my Ritzy...) Crying or Very sad

Bears are some of the freakiest things to me! And the scariest part, is usually black bears are skittish and will run away when they see people, but this bear was actually trying to attack our horses!

Wow! That does sound out of ordinary behavior for a black bear. Like you said, they are usually timid and afraid to get too close to people. It's a good thing your father shot him, else he would have caused big trouble, if not then then in the future. Whew, it is a good thing he didn't manage to hurt any of your animals!

Yeah, where me and my family live, there are no bears. It's too dry for them. But we do have cougars, bobcats, and coyotes. Cougars don't cause any trouble; they are extremely shy, can never get a glimpse of one. Bobcats and coyotes, however, have done their damage. A bobcat killed one of our cats, and a coyote attacked my poor doggie! She recovered, which is amazing considering she's smaller than a coyote anyway...

P.S., I love goats! I wish we had some, but we are farmers, not ranchers. No goats for me. Sad

Lol, limp is a pretty good description!

We were all really releaved that the bear didn't think to attack the sheep earlier. It was like a last minute shot, we were really lucky!

We have bears here, and an occasional lynx or fox. But those are really shy, like the bobcats and stay fairly far away. Bears are our biggest worry, especially in the summer!

I like your black geldings neck.

I think limp bears are the best bears when on farmland.

Hopefully, black bears arent protected by the government xD
