Hey! For all you that ride or own a horse or even lease a horse, post here! For those of you who ride regularly, anyone have mares that have foals or that are in foal? |

Ooh! I've got a pony! (Well, technically a horse, but I call her a pony!) She just recently turned three! My baby's growing up... *sniff sniff* I got her right after she turned one and, with advice from my mother, taught her everything she knows! Actually, truthfully, she was born trained. I swear, the first time I got on her to actually ride (bareback, but with reins), she didn't need to be taught how to turn, change gaits or anything! It was pretty incredible. She's an extreme escape artist, and just got out of her pasture yesterday actually! But I don't worry too much, because when she does get out, she never leaves our yard, and I don't think she ever will. Lol. She also LOVES water! It's so strange! If you point her towards water, she will play in it all day! She splashes and snorts and kicks up a mess! Lol, I love her so much! Just talking about her makes me want to go hug her right now!
Couldn't help myself. Here are some recent pics!
After Playing in the Mud!
Not a very good head shot, but a head shot, nevertheless.

i ride horses regularly, on fridays. I am gonna start working at the stable over the summer, and hopefully will get to ride more.
I ride Beau and Powerplay (Timmy<3).
And i used to ride J.T. (retired) and Flynn (sold, yet again).
Flynn is a funny little horse. He always gets sold, and then six months later he is returned xD |

I don't ride horses, either, but both the foal and "pony" are gorgeous!
That still sounds fun, SD! I like mules; maybe better than horses, actually. |

Yep
The sad thing is though, is that they aren't ridden often...
SOOO.... They are partially wild .... |

We have two horses and a mule, but I don't ride any of them. The mare, Suzy Q is a 7 yr old QH that my roomie is still training to rope. The gelding, Moses, is a 23 yr old QH who has been promised he is strictly on grandchild duty now - I used to ride him a bit but he is a little "gimpy" so now he carries no one over 30 lbs - LOL. He was a great rope horse in his day - the roomie won money on him.
And our mule - ahhh Sampson. Sampson is about 17 hh of draft mule who has been used for packing hunting trips into the mountains. He has a nice little shuffle gait and we have been told that he can be ridden as well as pack - but also that he bucked some people off. He seems to have opinions about who can ride. He IS a mule. He is so huge, and has this big moose head, that we haven't been able to find a bridle to fit him yet.
So...... if I added mules as a species, with draft and riding as the commons - and gaited, jumping, and packing as more rare versions - there would be people besides me who wanted them? |

I have a Tb/Hanoverian cross mare named Winnie. We show in the jumpers and also dabble in dressage and eventing. I've had her for three and a half years now and I love her to bits. She has the stereotypical chestnut mare attitude: spicy with her own opinion on everything! She can jump the moon and is a blast to ride (as long as you do everything just the way she likes and don't mind lots of go lol).
Then this summer I'm flying out to Florida to be a working student at a big eventing barn! I rode in a clinic with the trainer last fall and she asked me to come work for her! I can only afford to go for a month, but it is going to be amazing, riding nice horses all day long and lessons 6 days a week. I'll also be giving lessons to kids. |

YES! I would want them Coci!
These are the mules..
•Lady is the smallest of the three and is most tolerent. She doesn't seem to care and you could basically do ANYTHING to her and she wouldn't seem to care. lol. We can't find a mule bridle to fit her so we have ended up riding her without a bridle or a smaller horse one. She is my fav!
•Molly is the tallest and strongest of them all and of course because everyone want to ride her `cause she is the biggest she of course has to be the most wild of the three . Sh doesn't tolerate being in the back of the pack and always has to be front and center and the center of attention. LOL she reminds me of my drama queen little cousin!Haha... She is very intolerable of any people playing around so of course she HATES me.
•Sammy is the medium of the three and is very sweet. She is the oldest and we are very conserned for her. Last year we had a scare when my grandmother went out to feed them. She was laying in the middle of the over hang. My grandmother thought she was dead at first, but she finally raised her head up and got up when my grandmother got closer. Phew...
And ya know they always remind me of the cingular bars! Haha... |

Queso - WOW that is so cool! What a great opportunity! Winnie sounds like a blast too - I LOVE lots of GO!
SD - Well, I'll push those mules up in the token todo list then. I have been thinking probably no one would want them but me.
Hah - Moses scares me half to death at least every month or so. He likes to sprawl in the sun and go to sleep. I think he is maybe going a little bit deaf and doesn't hear me whistle when I walk out to the barn, so then he doesn't get up and I'm treated to the sight of the old horse sprawled out, legs stiff... and he doesn't lift his head until I get right up to him. He blinks a couple times and looks at me like "What's the problem?" and gets those old legs arranged to get up... he's such a beautiful old sweetheart tho. We all love and spoil him rotten.
Trent - the baby is so cute
Brat - I love your pinto pony girl! Suzy Q likes to escape too. She very carefully threads her way through the fence - then Sampson gets mad over being left behind and just BULLDOZES it down.
I spend a lot of time fixing fence... |
