I saw this mentioned on another thread and thought I'd see what everyone had to say about it..
There are ALOT of random un-used accounts on SBF, which yes happens on virtual games..
I was thinking, what about accounts that haven't been used in say, 1000 days, are deleted? (as well as the animals being contained on that account) I understand people do not always come on, and there are a few who check on their accounts every month or so, thats why I figured 1000 days would be long enough to ensure the person is done with their account on SBF..
Anyone else's thoughts? |

It does sound like a good idea. But sometimes people can't come on for months on end because of situations beyond thier control. I was gone for a long time because i was in the hospital for 6 months. Not because i didnt want to play anymore. |

I completely agree Trinity!
But 1000 days is 2.5 years (approximently, and a bit), if you haven't been on in 2.5 years, I don't think your coming back. '
Or maybe the option could remain that if you intend to take a long leave of absence than you can alert the mod dealing with this "situation" to ensure your account is not de-activated. I just feel bad for all the end and a/e animals, 'rotting', on inactive players account. |

Agree.
What if they weren't gone forever, but just didn't come up in searches etc?
I would like them to be gone forever, but I don't see them doing that.
2.5 years is well long enough... |

I think the animals should retire automatically to begin with, once they reach retirement age, whether or not the owner exams them. but that could be a problem for active players too.. |

Thats a good idea too.
As soon as they take an exam theres a great chance those animals would be gone anyway.... |

Perhaps that should happen to all animals EXCEPT the ones who are pregnant, to give the player a chance to get a replacement when they take the exam? Or maybe when they reach x years (or perhaps double the retirement age) past that time, it should be retired no matter what? |

double might be too much, some animals live for like a year in real time. 2 years to auto retire is alot.
maybe 1.5 |

It's orbis games policy to not delete accounts or animals. Animals that aren't being trained and accounts that aren't being accessed/changed don't affect the server in any way, so it's not a detriment to leave them.
However, deleting animals can be bad. It leaves gaps in the memory. Say you have animal that is descended from one that's been deleted. That animal will no longer be there, and can mess up the genetics in the coding when attempting to breed your animal.
Yes, chances are if the person comes back, their animals will most likely be retired the first turn they take, but they still have the option to try and breed to replace those animals before taking that turn.
Deleting accounts is never done. Doing so would be of no benefit to anyone. |

well, its more of retiring the animals maybe. And once a player leaves for that long, even if hte retirement age animals, they may be so old that they retire with the baby. |

Thats what I was trying to get too Trent.
If someone has, say, 20 Rez Horses on an inactive account, but there is only 5 horses on active accounts.
The value of the Rez Horses is not a 'good', as it could be since there is now technically 25, when they should only be 5..
I feel this weighs on the animals rarity, and would definetly effect if I decided to purchase this animal or not.. |

i agree.
however, if it was possible, perhaps a warning email could be sent?
this way, if the person forgot (i'm not understanding how you'd accidentally forget about sbf for that long, but oh well xD), they could have a reminder to log in within the next two weeks or whatever, or their account will be deleted. c:

Think we would be able to make everyone happy if animals no longer showed up on searches once they aged so far over their normal lifespan. That way no animals would have to be retired, but they wouldn't drag down the breed's rarity. |
