|
|
On May 28th (actually, tomorrow the 21st )I am scheduled to have my back surgery done...finally! After two years of pain and agony, I'm definitely ready to go. I'll be in the hospital for four days and be off work for three months while I lounge around in an armpit-to-butt brace. The surgeon will pull my forward-slipping vertebra back, screw in two metal rod/bar supports, fabricate discs out of ground cadaver bone and epoxy, and remove bone spurs. I'm hoping he can fit in a nose job and a tummy tuck while he's at it, but I doubt it
I will either be able to be on the computer a lot while I recover...or not much at all. I'll have to play that part by ear and see how it goes. So..don't panic if you don't see me around too much.
Counting the days....
Thanks for the well wishes, you guys behave yourselves while I'm gone! I'll be back on line in a week or so, so not to worry if I don't respond to you.

YAY!
aww, I bet you don't need a nose job!
So, your vertebrae was slipping forward? is that scoliosis or something else?
its taken TWO years?! |

No, not scoliosis, that is side-to-side misalignment of the spine. My vertebra are moving forward due to injury and a birth defect I recently found out I have. I am an inch shorter just in the last six months.
Yeah, it has taken two years because of a list of things that have to happen first. Drugs, therapy, stronger drugs (oxycontin), MRIs and x-rays, Dr. appointments, pain clinic where they inject meds right into the spine..and last, surgery. Progress is painfully slow...

I know what you are going through Rusty, I have four degenerative disks in my lower back, spinal stenosis which is pushing on the disks that are already bad, plus the bone spurs, arthritus and scoliosis in my upper back. Thankfully it hasn't gotten bad enough to need surgery but I know that I will end up there too one day. Hope you have a quick surgery and an easy recovery. |

I hope everything goes smoothly and you are soon feeling much better! Back pain is miserable - seems like everything hurts if your back hurts.
Dealing with anything medical is a nightmare, at least here in the U.S., as I've recently had the joy of finding out with hubby's problems.
We'll miss you a lot if you're gone, but I hope you find recovery the perfect time to just sit around and play at SBF |
