Let me just start out with hubbys surgery went well and we're doing fine. I've been tired and stressed and working online and job hunting and taking care of hubby in RL so I haven't been at SBF. So far as I know right now I am waiting for ONE phone call tomorrow and can spend the rest of the day here on the party. Well, I do feed and take care of animals here at the ranch but it is supposed to rain so that keeps me inside Wink

Trent I had to get up and didn't get the PM sent to you. Let me take care of the party business and I'll get one headed your way. WOW, some picture.

Looks like mainly I need to get back to the top post and put in tickets sold/donations.

It's the night before the party (RP)

Cocodri is sitting at a desk in a pool of golden lamp light in her ranch office, tallying tickets bought and donations and making sure all the "i"s and dotted and "t"s crossed. A female black and white Police Dog puppy lays beside the desk quietly watching Cocodri tap on her computer, no idea that her life is about to change drastically as she goes to a new home. Cocodri smiles at her and makes kissing noises as she rises from her chair and stretches. The puppy leaps up, tail wagging wildly and dances around Coco as they walk to the kitchen. Coco pours herself a glass of water, and takes a dog treat out of a box on the counter. The puppy sits politely and does her best "I'm STARVING" look before taking the treat gently from Coco's offered hand. Coco pats her on the head. "I'll miss you Little Girl, but you'll go to some good people and be a brave and clever police dog for them, I'm sure." The puppy wags her tail in reply.

Down at the hall volunteers are sweeping and mopping and hanging decorations. Others are stocking up the refrigerators with soda and tea, and getting the kitchen ready to make the dinner and snacks for tomorrow. The fence company came earlier and put up a big chain link enclosure for a temporary dog park. In one of the small pens around the arena, the JLR donkeys are munching hay and looking around with interest. Their big surrey got washed today, and then they were hitched up and driven the 20 miles or so to the Sheriff's Posse Arena, fed and groomed and turned into a small pen. As always, people smiled, honked and waved when they passed them by on the two lane highway and the donkeys pranced and danced, showing off. They have been to the arena before and know they are going to have a busy day tomorrow, with lots of treats from little kids, too, probably! Yum! In another pen Yankee's Blue Mac (http://www.sandboxfarm.com/viewanimal.php?idkey=878291) is enjoying his dinner after foxtrotting in hitched to the back of the surrey. He's not sure what all this is about, but he does know an arena when he sees one. He decides to have a nice roll in the freshest pile of poop he can find so Coco will have to spend an extra hour in the morning trying to scrub the green stain out of his pale coat before she braids the traditional bows and ribbons into his long white mane and tale. His green eyes sparkle with mischief and spirit.

In other houses, policemen and women lay out freshly ironed and washed dress uniforms and polish their shoes or boots. The K9 officers are bathing and grooming their dogs to look their best at the ball tomorrow. A band practices and fine tunes their play list and a cook goes over their recipes and list of ingredients one more time to make sure everything is ready.

We're going to have a BALL tomorrow, after all...

Coco realizes that she has done everything but choose her dress and runs to the closet hoping something still fits!

Muttering under her breath, Cocodri scrubs at the green stain on Mac's shiny silver white coat. The donkeys, hitched to their surrey, are standing in the shade with their driver, waiting until there are some passengers to go downtown. Already they have been mobbed by all the local kids (under 12 gets in free) and made a few rounds of the arena grounds just for the little ones to get a nice ride. One of the kitchen volunteers gave away all the carrots and had to run to town to buy more. She's now doing a booming little business selling carrots and apples for a quarter each to the kids and adults who want treats for the donkeys. The donkey's don't mind.

Barking and woofing is coming from the dog park as service dogs arrive. There's Legend, and Sooty, and Sabi, Sable, and First Defense. Nightingale, Chocolate and Intervention are running the fence, their noses to the ground as if they don't know how to take a day off even on their day off. Telling Truth, Cougar, and Ashes are galloping back and forth after a Frisbee, each of them trying to be the first to catch it and bring it back to their handler. Wasted Beauty and Molly Brown are sitting quietly outside the fence with their owners, still on duty even during the ball. Hobo and his daughter, the prize puppy, are laying in the shade of a big Rio Grande Cottonwood, panting and resting after a rousing game of chase.

The delicious smell of cooking is coming from the kitchen, although right now you can only get some sandwiches or chips from the long buffet table set out this morning. A few families have drifted in early, mostly the volunteers who are cooking or doing other things. One volunteer is setting up a table with brochures and photos of the service dogs and their handlers with information about their work and how important they are to the communities they serve. There is another volunteer here from the animal shelter, too. Many service dog trainers make a special effort to adopt shelter dogs they think may be suited for service dog work. There is another table from the local nursing home with photos of their Therapy and Companion dogs, to remind us that they are so important to the people they care for and love.

Cocodri finally got the stain out of Mac's white coat and is busy braiding the traditional ribbons and bows into his long, fine mane and tail. Mac looks bored.

Wolfgirl gets herself ready then gets Snow's nice chain leash out of the closet and hooks it onto her new leather collor and gets on her nice Jean capri's and nice dress shirt adn walks out the door,Snow on high alert even though she would be going to play.

Wolfgirl exits her black Ford F-150, and walks to the back door and opens it. Snow jumps out the pure white Wolf pricks her ears adn they swivel at the sounds of barking as she wags her tail.Wolfgirl walks with Snow to the gate enters adn unhooks Snow once saftley in the dog park and watches.Snow runs over to the new pup and sniffs her carefully.

Marlee brushes Czac, the extremely well behaved Police dog. Dressed in her police woman uniform, Marlee opens the door to the ball, Czac at her side.

Absolutely Marlee jump in anywhere Very Happy Ah, I see you have.

Coco has changed into a black velvet riding dress with a huge sweeping skirt, complete with a fancy dress hat and veil and fine black leather riding gloves. She is mounted sidesaddle on Mack who is adorned with green and black silken ribbons and bows in his mane and tail to match his green eyes and his riders dress. They are meeting cars at the entrance, and after the tickets are passed to the attendant, escorting them to their parking areas. Mack knows he is all dressed up and ribboned, so he is at his head nodding, tail bobbing best, snorting and flopping his ears in time to his dancing fox trotting feet. At his heels trots Hobo, the proud father of the prize puppy, looking very official and proper in his police dog vest.

Coco waves at wolfgirl as she arrives and leans down to pat Snow on their way to the playground. Seeing Marlee arrive, she salutes the policewoman smartly, then smiles and leans down to pet Czac.

"The dogs can go play in the park, or they are welcome anywhere in the ball grounds tonight. We didn't assign seats, just make yourself comfortable anywhere. wolfgirl, when you want to change, we've made the little room behind the main ballroom into a changing room for the ladies. You guys go get yourself a soda or whatever you like. I'll be in a little later when everyone gets here." She waves again and turns Mack to fox trot back to the gates.

In the dog park the puppy bows to Snow and lets the senior wolf inspect her. Her dam, Chocolate keeps a close eye from nearby.

*Make and RP in the gaming thingy, then it can go on longer!*

Czac pants and licks Cocos hand. He wags his tail and runs out into the park and noses Mac.

Trent puffens the pink bow in Brownies ear. i pat her on the head, and then push open the doors loudly, hoping to make a dramatic entrance. Everyone turns their heads. WHUMP! i fell. Brownie, with her foot extended, smiled, knowing exactly what she did. i awkwardly got to my feet, straightened by tie, and continued down to my seat as if nothing happened, but i held brownies leash at arms-length.

Coco grins at Trent and gives Brownie a stern look. Mack just switches his long tail, tossing the ribbons and bows, amused at just the sort of prank he'd probably pull if they let him in the main hall. He cocks his head a little. One of the old cowponies once told him this story about being ridden right into the bar and around the pool tables...nah, Coco would probably not go for that. He snorts loudly. Unfair. Dogs can go in but horses not! Hobo snorts too - but because he considers Brownie's behavior not quite proper for a police dog.

**Marlee don't you tempt me. Besides, I've got to return to the "real world" tomorrow for most of the day *sigh* Alas, the ball shall last just one night... then like Cinderella it's back to wearing rags and washing the floors...
