This debate/arguement/firefight keeps popping up in auction and sales threads. Creators don't feel respected, those that buy foundie pairs say "It's my money I spent too", the general public scrabble for a piece of the exclusive animals they want and on it goes.

BTW, if my special brand of sarcasm comes off as offensive, just chill and eat a cookie.

Sure, if you buy a foundie pair it was your own money. Almost a whole $2 worth. You have rights to the animals you bought. The creator gets a little message when they log in letting them know you bought it and there is nothing to stop you from putting the male up for public stud for tuppence. It's probably nice to let people know what you plan to do with their creation you bought (especially I would suggest if they've been burnt before and are paranoid).

My view is that if I create something End, I hope it will be something fun that people want to buy foundies for, throwing me a handfull of tokens and following a "breed to replace except maybe one" sort of concept. I do worry when I see them bred straight away, but when that stops and the population peaks at about 5 I chill again. I'm sure most people are good most of the time, and I'm not going to start throwing stones at someone if I don't need to.

If you're a creator on the other hand, you tend to get attached to those ideas of yours, and they hold more value for you because you put more money into them. That's just a human nature thing. You want some credit, some kudos, you want people to ask you for your creation. You don't want to see if flowing freely. You want it to stay a little bit special, to everyone. You want it to keep the value it had when it was new, for as long as possible. It's hard to explain, but those pixels and a bunch of code are special to you. It may be just a game, but you have an emotional investment in it now. And we all know what people can be like when emotional, right?

So what's the solution? Caring more? Talking more? Pandering just a little bit to creator's needs for recognition to allow foundie buyers to go on doing similar reasonable things to what they've always done but without *rhymes with flit* hitting the fan every time there's a horse or dog auction?

I mean, what else can creators actually do? Cry? Scream? Stop creating and Leave?
That's not fun.

This isn't meant to start a fight. I'm rather hoping that talking can start to address the different points of view we all have and try to understand where everyone is coming from. This should be a fun place and constant underlying tension is what's going to make people leave. I want to still be playing a year from now- and I want you to be playing a year from now too.

It's not meant to start a fight. Please try to talk 'in general' without bringing up specific examples, no name calling and absolutely none of these condescending smilies Arrow Rolling Eyes[/b]

The last option on the poll kind of made me twitch, I will put more 2 cents in I guess, and I must also Thank you Ferox for this thread!

I Have not made much on this game, nor do I expect to make much myself, but I still create. I prefer to make all my variations AE, and either put them up fro donations or such else, It would stop the the alternative, but when you give a whole to someone you Trust, you put a lot of faith to that one person, and when or if they over breed, I feel disappointed, but I will probably just suck it up, If there is more then 12 in game, I consider it "slightly" over bred, If it's over two pages, Its way to much in an AE to me. Through I will go for special AE's already made if I really want to. I try to respect the wishes of creators, and I prefer to buy from the Original foundation pair, I don't know why. If someone else buys a foundation pair, if I do make an End, I will just be happy that someone else enjoys it enough to spend a few tokies. But If I see it overbreeding, I lose faith in that person and I might remind them once, But I'm soft heartened so ya...

Now the other thing is when someone uses an animal from You or bought from you, to overbreed another Creators species, I've seen this happen before, I personally feel quite guilty from that, I hate that really badly. If they really overbreed it, I will offer to buy the animal they used to overbreed the variation back, so they can't continue it possibly. Some are stubborn and it upsets, but can't do anything about it.

I have more, but I'll post more later...

I'm hoping people will get along, but every other week tempers flair in the selling section, and I'd really like people to take some time and talk rather than scream.

Oh and Sand, sorry if it made you twitch. It's supposed to remind people not to be ridiculous.

It's those that are fighting that I would most like to see talk to each other.

Too tired right now to properly voice my opinion...

But kudos Fer, for continuing to poke fun at people that take themselves just a pinch too seriously, and pulling into line those that would otherwise run riot...

Without managing to make enemies in the process. That takes skill Wink

Ok, really short answer before spelling completely up and deserts me...

If I'm intending to hold an auction, if the creator is active I tend to message about my intentions and give them reasonable time to respond as to their wishes in regards to the animals in question ( usually a week ) if the player doesn't appear to be active ( this is a tricky one........I regularly show that I haven't examined in a month, but a quick look in the forums shows me posting most days and therefore active ) I try to use my best judgement about who an animal goes to......

Sure, THEY might be the ones overbreeding it..........But its MY fault so thats where the responsibility actually lies. I've worked too long and hard to make good friends here that I trust to trade with to see it ruined by something as simple as 50 million in a sale......I can make that money somewhere else. Once those friendships are gone, so is the fun of the game........

None of that probably made the slightest bit of sense......Sorry >.< Need sleep... Rolling Eyes ( Yeah, I'm a rebel...Using the banned smilies Twisted Evil )

I'll forgive you for that one Vitani Rolling Eyes

I may have upset a few individuals but hopefully am not making enemies.

I think I get what you're trying to say. I've bought creations of inactive players (no activity, demolished farms etc), including a few that were otherwise lost. I can't really get their opinion on what I should do with them.

I think if you're not sure what you should do with an animal, up the price. Gives you some thinking time in the negotiation. I often think I should have upped the price when someone says BIN instantly.

Thanks for joining the debate.
