Okay, here is the first chapter in a story I'm writing. I think its not that good, but what ever, if you like (or hate lol) it please comment.
Chapter one
Jake and Niko were shooting hoops in the driveway; Halia and I were smirking every time the boys missed, and waiting for Josette to come over to my house. “Niki,” Niko shouted indignantly, “Stop laughing! I’d like to see you and your friends do better!” The truth was that we couldn’t, Halia and I anyway. But Josette, she could beat anyone, and we (almost) always beat them whenever we played a game of basketball. Just then Josette hurried up to the patch of grass we were sitting on. I saw Nikos shot and I winced mockingly as he missed. A dull pink color crept into his cheeks. Josette grinned. Then she became serious and looked at me the way she does when something is wrong. “Let’s go to your room.” It was more of a demand than a request. She tucked her middle lengthen blond hair behind her pierced ears.
She had her birthstone, aquamarine, cut in the shape of a heart. I knew for a fact that she got a new pair of earrings each birthday, March 23. On my birthday, I and had cake and a few close friends over, and a couple presents. May 16, the day 12 years ago I became a twin. I never really forgave my parents for naming us Niko and Niki.
When we got to my room I locked the door (out of habit) and sat down on my bed. Josette sank weakly on my beanbag chair. I looked at her, wondering how such a beautiful person could have such a sad life. When Josette was nine, her dad was killed in a car wreck, but the car, or him, was never found. I knew that Josette wanted to believe that he was living and breathing, but I also knew that deep down she knew that wasn’t true. When her dad went “missing” her mom was due to have a baby. Only, that baby went to the same place her dad did.
Josette started muttering almost mutely. A tear slid smoothly down her perfect face. “My mom”, she started,” my mom is dating…” That was all she needed to say. Halia and I knew how close she was to her dad, and even though three years had passed she still got emotional about it, I didn’t blame her. “Is… is it serious, like…” Halia tried to ask. Josette nodded silently. |

Here is the next chapter.
Chapter 2
Josette told us how she came home from school yesterday, and how there was a guy on the couch with her mom. She said that they didn’t notice her. She walked up and said, “I’m home.” And her mom got all startled and blushed and started stammering excuses.
I asked my mom if Josette and Halia could have a sleepover. She said yes, as long as we didn’t TP Jakes house again. We talked about birthdays, sports, and candy in the beginning. Josette seemed to have forgotten about her mom and Mr. Whatshisface. Josette was only 11, the rest of us; Me, Halia, Jake, and Niko were all 12. In the morning the summer air was humid and warm. We went down to the woods near my house. When we got there we just sat on a fallen log. Then we heard rustling in the bushes and a couple twigs snapped. We tensed. The forest was so dense that I couldn’t see 5 feet in front of me. Then someone or something grabbed my jacket hood from behind. Josette’s eyes were huge. “Run!” I screamed at them. They didn’t need telling twice. They only took three steps when they realized that I was still struggling with whatever had hold of me. They ran back to help. Then all of the sudden the grip released and everything was quiet. Then a soft, “Rrrrrrrr”. We backed away, but it was following us. But “it” was just Niko and Jake. I remembered that Niko had a sleepover at Jakes house. Us girls were breathing sighs of relief, while the boys were laughing their heads off, saying stuff like “Should’ve seen your face!” and “Screaming soo loud!” I was about to protest to the last comment but I realized that we did scream. Another twig cracked. We looked at the boys. “Call it off”, Halia said in a commanding voice all her own. “Do you have another friend lurking around here?” I challenged them. So far Josette was as silent as the boys were starting to be. Their faces were all faced in the same direction over me and Halia’s shoulders. I looked around and swore. All the trees and bushes and everything were gone. And when I say everything I mean plants, rocks, and the crooked trail. That kind of everything. I spun around and just barely saw trees vanish. |
