I know this is supposted to be in help but anyway i need help with my GIMP i just downloaded it and i can do the text please help.

What exactly do you mean by you can't do text? Is it that you can't find the text tool or that you've found it, but don't know how to use the settings on it?

like when i click on the text icon and i click on the picture it just says GIMP 2.7 has stopped working and shuts down GIMP>

I googled the problem and what you have is a known recreatable bug with that version of GIMP. Some of the people that have that problem said that it may be a font specific based error and that if you change the font to something other than the default Sans font, like Courier, before clicking on the canvas it sometimes works. As of now it doesn't look like the developer has a fix for it. You might try uninstalling and reinstalling an older version that the text does work in until the developer can fix the problem. I haven't used GIMP since they were still on v. 2.2.1 so I don't know which would be the newest version that text is still usable in.

This is the GNOME (GIMP software developer) site. It has a search function where you can go through a list of currently listed errors and if your specific error isn't there you can list it so the programmers can look into it to fix it for the next version update.
