Yeah, the pampus is sharp. I don't know why he likes it, he just does. We figured out the the pampus has given him hives. I have no idea why, it's never bothered him before.

Yay! He's much better! I rode him yesterday and he picked up the right lead! He almost never does that!

It's slow going with Kermit, he's giving to the bit on the ground and moves off from pressure to his side. Biggest thing is he'll now move his hind end away with just a verbal command of 'over'. Getting him to move the front end is harder since he thinks a hand near his head means lean in, I'm going to pet you. He's giving to light pressure turning on the fore, but wont give up on getting some loving before he moves. Smile

Funny story from yesterday. I took her fatness, Lily, out in one of the pastures to ride and she was a peach other than constantly talking to one of the boys back in the barn. Figuring she was being good enough I took her over in the field with the pond intending to just circle it and get her use to the idea of riding near water. She kept looking at it and drifting toward the water to the point that when we were crossing the dam, which is right by the deepest part (about 5 foot) I thought we were going to end up in it. Since she obviously wanted it we went back to the shallow side and all I had to do was point her. She trucked in to about halfway up her belly which was maybe 2.5 feet and would have kept going if I hadn't turned her. Then she wanted to put her head down and me being naive I let her thinking she wanted to drink or play in it like Prince and Tom do. No sooner had her head gone down than she went down. I've had horses try to lay down on me, but Lilly wins the award for being fastest. She must have rolled in water before and knew she wouldn't hit the bottom right away because she didn't even bother kneeling first, just took her front feet up and dropped. I ended up out of the stirrups half straddling her side before she remembered I was back there and got up, thankfully she didn't actually roll. I ended up wet from the waist down with water sloshing in my boots by the time it was over. We rode around on dry ground a little more and then I called it quits so I could get everything started drying out; horse, saddle, saddle pad, pretty much everything. When I told the barn owner what happened his wife said she wanted to be there to see next time I get her in water XD Next time I won't even bother with the saddle and we'll just go swimming since I'm 99% sure I've finally found a horse that is both short enough to swim in the pond and more than willing to do so without a fight.

lol! That must have been quite an experience. I have seen a horse that almost rolled over on a rider, thank goodness the rider was like super experience and just kicked her to get up. She had been doing that lately. Well, today was a really good ride. Gunner usually is very naughty when there are at least two other horses in the arena and he was fine today. We went up the trail too. It was a lot of fun.
