I got a new puppy! Our neighbors were driving through the country this morning when the car in front of them stopped and dumped a box a puppies into the middle of the road and drove off Evil or Very Mad They knew our golden had passed away a few months ago and asked us if we'd like to come see them. Of course once my mom and I saw them we couldn't say no, so now I have a new puppy! We think he's a lab mix, he's black with white on the toes of two of his paws and some white flecks on his chest and belly. I think he's only 9 or 10 weeks old and it looks like he has ear mites and possibly some sort of worms (he's on the skinny side but has a pot belly). My mom's going to take him to the vet on monday, and we're going to the pet store in a few minutes to get him some food, a crate, a collar and some toys.

I don't have any pics yet, but I was wondering if you guys could help me brainstorm some good names. He's very playful (and a bit mouthy, but he already seems to be learning that people aren't toys) but so far I don't really know a lot about him. I'm thinking that something about his white paws would be cute, they're on diagonal paws. I want something unique, but I haven't been able to think of anything that really suits him yet. Any suggestions? Very Happy

Queso - thats is so nice!!

Id give him a few days to really get to know him and his personality. My dogs have tended towards "people "names, Max, Charley, Emma..

but we usually try out a few names until one "settles". also, check out baby name books or name sites or myths - my daughters dogs are Thor & Loki (Chi-weenis!)

advice, NEVER name a pet after a famous outlaw or bandit - trust me on this one

I hope that your neighbors got the license plate number and turned them in, that is animal cruelty and they need to be punished for doing that. I am glad that your neighbors picked them up and are giving them a second chance. Those poor babies may have died if they hadn't picked them up.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Very Happy We've started calling him Gibbs, it seems to fit him so far, but we'll see. He seems really smart, I took him for a little walk and he picked up 'heel' in less than a minute! He seems like he's already house trained too, which is really nice. I took some pics with my phone, but I can't seem to transfer them to my computer at the moment. I promise I'll get some pictures of him up tomorrow though.

Drmchaser, I don't think they did. Evil or Very Mad I'm sure he would have died if they hadn't seen them, the road goes through the middle of nowhere. I can't believe people would be so cruel, they could have at least taken them to the pound, it's only 10 minutes away.

Whatever you do, don't call him lucky. The most unfortunatel things happen to animals named 'lucky'.

Haha Marlee, Kai was the name of my beautiful rescue gelding...It means "food" in Maori because he always had one thing on his mind!

Awww Queso, I just wanna snugg him...I love animals in general but have a soft spot for hard luck cases lol...

( If I die and come back as an animal, I'm coming to my house lmao! )

Gibbs...Thats so adorably weird...Why Gibbs?

I'd have offered my suggestions, but if thats sticking, go with it lol...I'd have leaned towards something predictable like Domino anyway Laughing

Haha Vitani. My dog and horse is like that. Kai also means ocean in hawaiian.

You're lucky Queso. I just love labs. Does he drool when he drinks water or sees food? My dog drools a ton.
