Ahh!!! Very Happy

So, awhile ago, I mentioned that I had moved. That kinda means changing schools... Anyway, I just wanted to post and let everyone know that I am excited beyond belief that I'm transferring, but a little nervous. I wanted to get stories/personal experiences from people who had changed schools (no depressing stories please!). You have to understand though, when I was seven, I moved from my hometown to the neighboring state. This devastated me, and I absolutely and completely disliked the school and town to which I had moved to. Now that I am finally back to my home state, I feel soooo much better. FINALLY... The basic air of the town is so much nicer.

The school for which I have enrolled in is so much better than my old school. Plus, their science department is more than I ever could have hoped for. I want to go into neuroscience, so this is incredible. What I'm worried about are the people. The state I'm in (sorry for the stereotype) is known for their kindness, but I know in reality, there will always be some jerk. I don't really want to be the "new girl," but then again, I've been waiting for this forever.

Opinions? Advice? Help?

Kayla

Well, I've never been the "new girl". Try finding people that like the same things you do. I found my best friend in third grade. I introduced her to some people.

Just be yourself. Be outgoing. That's why I'm so popular today. I know everyone. I may not hang out with the people who think they're so cool but i dont want to. You shouldn't either. They'll betray you like they did to me.

Also, don't be like overly desperate for friends. I know one new girls who had like 5 friends on the first day of school.

But remember to go up to new people and say hi and introduce yourself. if they're mean the first time but nice the next they might not be worth it. you decide though.

I've switched schools many many times. And I've found that no matter where you go or what happens, you'll find your spot. I wouldn't go out for the numbers of friends. Find somebody you like who is in some of your classes or on your sports team. Try out for sports and join clubs. Be who you want to be because you can change your identity. But at the same time, be careful because you don't want to lose your old self. I've lost a lot of myself at old schools, but I think I'm a better person because of it. Don't be afraid of change and come in with confidence!

If you ever need any help feel free to PM me because I've been there and done that... It is NOT easy. But things will work out if you keep a positive attitude, no worries. :]

I moved across the country the summer before my freshman year in high school. I was terrified I would never make new friends, but it actually worked out really well in the long run. I make friends really easily so I never really had a problem with that, but I will admit I was miserable for most of my freshman year. Moving really forced me to find out who I really was, I couldn't rely on everything being the same anymore. I missed all of my old friends and was realy bitter about leaving. I think me being bitter was one of the main reasons I was so miserable. By the end of the school year I decided to just be myself and that the rest of the world would just have to deal with it. It was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made. Use moving as a chance to shake off all of your old stereotypes and preconceived idea and just be you. Be confident and comfortable with your self, people will notice! Once I decided to just be my self everything really fell into place for me. I went from a selfconscious little nerd, to a popular, confident, wacky me! Now I'm a senior and I love my school and all of my friends. I'm comfortable with my self, that's what made the difference for me. Just be yourself and don't worry, everything will work out just fine. Very Happy

If you need someone to talk to, please give me a pm. I know what you're going through, it's not fun or easy. Having someone to share your feelings with can really help.
