"Childhood" - By SisKate
Childhood is crying on the pony ride
Because you’re so scared.
And then crying at the end
Because you don’t want to get off.
Childhood is scraped knees
Loose teeth,
Slivers,
And sunburns.
Childhood is getting sick from eating too much birthday cake.
Childhood is laughing out loud because someone burped.
Childhood is lemonade stands.
And becoming so excited over earning your first quarter of the day.
Childhood is Christmas morning.
Waiting for the clock to turn to 6 am
So you can race down the stairs to your presents.
Childhood is games.
Make Believe,
Kick The Can,
Cops And Robbers,
Kickball,
And sliding down the stairs in sleeping bags.
Childhood is tears.
Tears when your brother rips your front tooth out long before it’s loose.
Tears when your grandpa dies.
Tears of joy when you get your first pony.
Childhood is a snow day.
Waiting for your school district’s name
To glide across the very bottom of the TV screen
Is one of the biggest thrills of all time.
Childhood is accomplishments.
Riding your two-wheeler for the first time.
Finishing your first chapter book (no pictures!).
Your first sleepover.
Childhood is a book full of memories.
Most are remembered for as long as you live.
Others fade away slowly and steadily,
Only leaving a small trace by the faded photos
Enclosed way back on a dusty shelf
In the back of your mind.

This was for a Language Arts project, and it turned out pretty good!
