Have you ever lost a loved pet? Mabey your first goldfish, or you eleventh hamster? If so, you can post here about the pet and all the memories you shared with it.
Reji: My very first puppy. He was a yellow labrador retriever. He was the first pet that I ever got to pick out. He was my fifth birthday present. When I was little, we owned an Akita Inu but had to give her away as she killed the neighborhood cats. Reji was the first big dog that I actually got to bond with. About two to three years ago, we had to give Reji to my half brother because Reji wasn't trained to endure fireworks... He messed in the house, and jumped through every screen door in the house until finally my mom got fed up with him. I was at a friends house when she got rid of him but at least he went to my half brother's family. I was terribly torn to shreds when I found that my two year old dog had left the house. (I was only in second grade. Two years later when I was in fourth grade, I overheard my mother on the phone. She had told someone that Reji escaped from the back yard and got hit by a car. It probably wasn't a good idea to give the family this dog because labradors are master climbers and these people had a house right on the side of the street. Reji somehow escaped and wandered right into the middle of traffic and got hit. I was horribly torn apart as I knew this wouldn't have happened if he was still living with us because we lived in a surrounded area with and electric fence(Please never give your dog a shock collar. We did for Reji's safety but he still found someway to minimize the pain and carry on his escapades.) where everybody knew Reji. He had gotten out so many times, that even the local police knew him very well.
Thats it with my story, but I'm sure you would like to express your feelings about your long lost pet and your best bud.
R.I.P. Reji. We miss you! |

I hope we can post here:
Snoopy: My standard chinchilla rabbit. Snoopy was taken into my home on September 16th, 2006. I loved him very much, he was my first pet. He was the cutest little bunny id ever seen. My dad had decided our back yard was safe enough for a little bunny to hop around and live in. He lived there for almost 2 years. On his last day I was eating breakfast, getting ready for school. When i saw a small little "critter" getting out of our back yard with something furry in it's mouth. I screamed and cried. My dad ran outside, he got his bb gun and chased after the damn thing. Finally he found it dropping Snoopy to the ground. Snoopy was alive so my dad shot the bobcat just to scare it (the gun was very low powered) he grabbed Snoopy and I ran into the back yard to hold my "baby" he died that very day almost 30minutes after my dad saved him, he was in my hands when his heart beated for the very last time. I cried, and cried. I was depressed for weeks. Snoopy was my life. I still wish he was here and I still like to think when a miracle happens its just Snoopy saying he loves me. He died when my mom was on the phone to the vet. Even if we rushed him to the vet he probly would only have lived a few hours longer and we'd just be paying 1000 bucks to see him suffer even longer. his neck and back was snapped. He died from shock and paralization. Even if he did live he'd be paralized for life. I'm happy his death was simple and quick, but i wish he'd not died at all tho. and to have your best friend die in your arms its heart breaking. I still have my heart broken in half from his death way back in 2007.
I will have more later but for now im already depressed enough.
Good Night,
Daes
RIP: Snoopy I miss you dearly, please come back to me buddy |

Aww that seriuosly made me cry...
My 13 year old cat named Jasmine is still very healthy and still very strong, but being a mixed breed and being found in a dumpster as a kitten, no one knew a thing about her. We think she is down to her fifth life(Or more) because she is very old, and being a mixed breed, this could make her life even shorter depending on what type of cat she is. Jasmine dosn't have the best attitude but we still love her anyways and I don't want her to die anytime soon. I've had alot of my pets taken from me *Crying right now* including my cats Silvester and Rosemary (given to the pound) my 20 fish(Yes I used to LOVE fish. They were practically my life along with Reji.) who died because my 3 month older half brother and my little sis were messing around with their food and I couldn't feed them in time. Then there was one time I won a black goldfish and named him Black Jack. I won him from my little sister's friends b-day party. He lived only for about three weeks. (mainly because I loved him soooo much and thought that fish could be spoiled like dogs and I over fed him...) When he died, he had shedded his black skin and turned silver. A few minutes later after I finished dumping the tank, I flushed him and found that he had turned gold! Mabey it was a sign that I'm not cut out to own anymore fish... I won't know. |

We've always had German Shepherds, and at one time we had two, Bratterratt and Matt Attack. Me and my Mom went riding down on the road on the horses and we took the two dogs along. Everything was going well, the dogs were tagging along, stopping every once in a while to sniff at stuff and the horses were being well behaved. (Now, you have to realize we live in a place, where there are not many houses around, because we live at the base of a mountain. All of the roads are surrounded by trees, and the place is pretty secluded, that's why the dogs weren't on leashes.) Anyway, all of a sudden, Bratt and Matt shot forward and around the bend, barking excitedly. We took the horses at a lope around the bend and saw a lady and her two Labradors walking. Our dogs ran up to them and sniffed them, then one of their dogs (who were also NOT on leashes), started to growl. Matt got mad and started to fight with it, and I mean like going for the kill. Bratt got caught up in it and they started to all fight really bad. We jumped off the horses, and had to separate them, in the end, they were all hurt badly. There was blood everywhere and the dogs were torn up. Well, we took our dogs home, and she took her two Labs home and everything went ok for a couple days. Then we got a call from the Police, the lady had filed a report on us, saying we had two vicious attack dogs that tried to kill her dogs, blah, blah, blah. Pretty much everything was a lie. So the animal people came out and told us that either Matt had to be put down, or he had to be quarantined for the rest of his life. So, we couldn't do that too him, and we didn't want to put him down, so we ignored the people for now. Because we don't have any neighbors and we live on a mountain, so no one would find out. But later, after the fight, Matt started to get meaner towards other dogs, and my dad finally couldn't stand to see Matt like that anymore. Something had happened during the fight with the labs that made Matt jumpy and angry, so my dad took him up the mountain and he shot him, 'cause we couldn't afford to put him down at the vets. It was really sad, and we all cried, but we all know that now Matt is in a better place. But the worst part about this, was that Bratterratt didn't understand why her friend wouldn't come home, and she was really depressed for the next couple months. She's happier now, we've got sheep that she loves and so everything is ok now, but it was really bad then... |

Awwww! That's really sad! If you've ever heard the saying 'Dogs are a man's best friend' then you'll know it's true. Though there are many forms of friendships, you can never go wrong with a dog!
After posting here and bringing up the emotional times, I would go and get a chocolate cookie if I were you. Chocolate always calms the mind and relieves stress. It's a proven fact! If you don't anytype of chocolate in the house, then your crazy! But you can substitute it for any other type of candy. Hope this helps! -CT |

We used to have a golden retreiver. We had had her for as long as I can remember. Her name was maple. She was the sweetest and kindest dog that I have ever known. She would always be there when you were sad and she'd let you cry on her. She'd lick your tears away and make you forget why you were sad in the first place. Maple loved everyone and everyone loved her. Maple was so unhappy being penned up that occasionally she'd get away. One day, we let her stay in the house. My sister and I were going outside to play. I slid just barely out of the house pressing myself against the door and the wall. Maple was at the door and we did't want her to get our. Then my sister tried to get out. Apparently she didn't see Maple. I still don't really know. She opened the door, pretty wide. That was the opertunity that Maple was waiting for. Maple shot out of the door as fast as her legs would let her. She was missing for a week before we found her. She was in the ditch...dead. Someone had hit Maple. They didn't stop to make sure she was okay or anything. We cried for weeks. That was a few years ago. I still cry from it occasionally. Maybe she could have lived. If only that driver had taken her to the vet, or some kind of other mirical. She was the last dog that we have ever had(if you don't count one for a few days). We all still miss her deeply. |

Awwww! I hope you got some chocolate after that!
Poor Maple! I thought goldies were bred to stay near their masters at all times? Or did her retrieving instincts take over? Anyways! I think that all dogs have an instinct that just takes over their body whenever they get outside. Thats how Reji ended up! But poodles are especially trained to stay right on the drive-way! Even as puppies!
I hope you feel better Little Red! -CT |

this wasn't exactly my animal but I got to see her a little bit. A llama named Finity. She was pregnant and 2 weeks and a couple days overdue. I was with a friend who went out to the farm a lot and we got a call that she went into labor. So we went out but for almost 1 and 1/2 hours she didn't so anything. then we decided that we were just going to have to pull the baby out ourselves and it was going well and we got the front feet outbut we couldn't find the head and we were getting really worried. So we found the head and the baby was alive but it was majorly twisted around in there and we kept trying to get it out for about 4 or 5 hours then we called vets and they said that after all that they thought the baby was gone andthey still couldn't get her out so at close to 1 in the morning we took the mommy to the OSU vet clinic and the vets there immediately went into a c-section but the other vets were right the baby hadn't survived all that but they got her out and she was a beautiful baby girl llama. she had the curliest black fiber and she was so big! we named her jewel. The mama got an infection and soon died as well. The thing was it wasn't till a couple days after all that happened that it really hit me and I pretty much broke down and cried my heart out. We were all praying really hard that they would survive but neither one did.
anyway that's my story.... |

Aww thats almost like a book I read! Go ahead and go eat some chocolate or a pickle lorraine! Llamas may not be the most common, but whatever we girls have our hearts set to, we stick to 'em like glue! I'll mention Jewel and her mother the next time I pray!
Hope your chocolate dosn't melt while reading this!-CT |

Ok, well my mini dachshound (isn't dead yet but we don't know how long he has left) Walker was diagnosed with Valley Fever almost four years ago. It started as a mild case that all he needed was antibiotics, it went away. Then the next year it came back but when it came back it was really bad, he couldn't eat, we had to literally shove baby food down his throat twice a day so he would live, as for water we had to feed it to him out of a bottle when he caughed. we kept him on antibotics and he was put on another pill. finally he gained weight and could eat and drink on his own, he soon was better. But then it came back again, but this time it went to his brain, so he was basically mildly brain damaged for almost half a year. he could eat but he was biting strangers, and barking at our family and basically staring right through us. once again we put him back on pills, and for about half a year he had that. This year when it came back it came back with a kidney and liver problem. he still has valley fever in the brain, but is doing better, but if we take him off his pill he'll loose it again, and become very sick. |

Tucker.
When I was only one, my parents took me to upstate Washington, where we drove out into the beautiful, rural country side for hours. When we had driven a while, we pulled into a gravel driveway. That's when we saw him. Tucker.
My parents had decided to get a dog. More specifically, a Golden Retriever puppy, a cute little blob of fur, scurrying around the house. My dad carried me over to where the puppies were freely roaming and playing in the shadows of a tall, rustic old barn. A somewhat eldery, friendly couple greeted us with welcomes and cookies. We entered the kennel. Almost immediately, the whole litter of puppies ran over and nearly knocked me to the ground, trying to lick me and greet me. I laughed, and my dad hoisted me up off of the ground. The old man kept peeking around as we looked at the puppies. He said that he seemed to be missing one. I wanted to pet the puppies, and my dad set me back down. Just as he let go of me, a tiny red fluff ball of a pup came scootering around the corner, headed straight toward us and knocked me to the ground. I laughed and laughed as the little puppy licked my face all over, and wagging his tail so hard he was unbalanced. I loved this crazy pup, and he, obviously, loved me. Our decision was made. And we brought home Tucker.
********
Years passed, and my little brother was born. Tucker was getting bigger and bigger, smarter and smarter. He chewed just about anything he could get his teeth around, including spatchulas, underwear, Barbies, books, even video tapes. Tucker was descructive sometimes, but we loved him anyway.
He grew up so fast and finally grew to be such a big boy, he weighed over 95 pounds. He wasn't overweight, in fact, very athletic, and a gorgeous deep red color. Tucker still was crazy and never ran out of steam and was always entergetic. Tucker enjoyed romping in deep grass, at the beach and in snow, fetching, chewing, and especially swimming. Since he was bred a hunting dog, Tucker would fetch anything. But he never gave it back.
Now Tucker was getting older. You could tell from the white hairs steadily growing on his chin and around his eyes and nose. But that never stopped him. He was still just as spirited as before. But because of his age, Tucker started having problems. He became very, very sick for a few days, and couldn't even move. Eventually he snapped out of it and recovered to normal, but we knew it was coming. Tucker was the grand old age of ten now. And we knew there wasn't much longer.
**********
Away for the weekend, my family and I made the long haul up to Seattle to visit some family. Tucker was staying two nights at a dog kennel, where he usually bunked while we were gone on trips anyway. Tucker didn't seem to mind the place too much, and always gladly stepped through the back doors to where he'd stay. But when my dad and I went to drop him off that Friday afternoon, something about the way he looked at us through the glass door when we left shot a terrible feeling through our hearts. Tucker just looked at us in such a way that we knew we would miss him.
Driving home late Sunday night, my brother and mom were asleep in the car. I was watching a movie, curled up in my seat. My dad drove on, and at around ten, he recieved the call. He answered his cellphone, and was silent for a moment, then started speakind slowly in a hushed, choked up sort of way. I was worried. My dad was as tough as a tank, he rarely showed any hint of worry himself. He pulled over. Everyone was still asleep. Slowly he looked back at me, and I asked what was wrong.
Tucker had died.
I burst into tears, and that's when my mother woke up. She heard the news and also sobbed with me. My brother, who adored Tucker like a brother, was still fast asleep. We would have to tell him. When he woke up, my dad informed him and I don't think I have ever seen my brother so terribly hurt. The feeling was so grave. It was the most horrid thing I've ever felt. The worst, and most indescribable feeling ever.
We raced to the hospital where the kennel manager had taken Tucker. We walked into that veterinary room, and the vet explained that Tucker had had a large tumor in his spleen that had developed over the years that they couldn't have detected sooner. That's why he'd been getting so sick. The tumor had ruptured, and his organs were slowly being shut down, including his heart and lungs. Tucker couldn't breathe. He was suffocating. When he had reached the hospital, there was no hope. They humanely euthanised him to put him out of any pain. And slowly, Tucker slipped.
********
We still hold Tucker dearly to our hearts. And always will. The little red Golden Retriever that never calmed down, right up until the day he died.
That cute scootering little red blob of fur.
Rest in peace, buddy. |
