A story question!

A couple days ago, I wrote a story and posted it in the 'Story Time' forums. My mom looked it over in my journal and said I should publish it! I'm only a sixth grader and I suppose it would be kinda cool, but what if it became REALLY famous and I got asked to do book signings, or even meet Opera??!!!

If you can help me with this descision, I'll give you 4mil PC!

I've been published before and it's not as fun as it sounds.

It's really, really hard to get famous as a writer. No one reads anymore. When I got published I got paid the same amount of attention I normally do... Which is none.

I've been told you should not get published to get rich, to get famous, or any of that stuff. You write for yourself and yourself first, not to please other people. The only reason why, if you really enjoy writing, to get published is to share the joy you had writing it with other people.

Kinda like being an artist as a profession; do it for yourself first, then others.

In other words, If it makes you happy, try it. Parents tell people stuff like that, and sometimes it's not worth it. They're just trying to show their appreciation. Some people have told me I should publish some of my worst writings, and my best get ignored by most people. I published my werid poem that makes ZERO sense to me and people seemed to like it enough to push me to try me.

I could post my best one here if you'd like me too... I've been honestly thinking about if I should publish it, but it's too short to be a book or something. Only 3 paragraphs.

If you're gonna do it, start with the school paper or a flyer. That's where mine got published.

thanks. But I still have to do the research on the animal that I'm writing about, plus I have to copy the story onto my other computer before I can do anything with it. Right now onlly my mom is aloud to see it mainly cuz my father dosn't even care... but I'll take your word and do the best I can to lay low. Smile

Well, try having like a friend or aunt read it and tell you thier honest opinion about it.

well my mom read it to my grandma via cellphone and my grandma liked it so they said I should get it published.... Rolling Eyes

Well, try putting it in a newspaper and put like a poll online or somthing like that.
