Ok. So like, this is just something I'm curious about. Like, everyone says after they read Twilight that they are: "Team Jacob", "Team Edward", "Team Emmet", etc. So what team are you on?

Bratterratt Very Happy

P.S. GO TEAM JACOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (P.S. Does anyone but me think that there should also be a "Team James"! He rocks, though he's not the nicest vampire ever...)

oh, I've never heard of that. But I LOVE the twilight saga. If I have to choose, it would be a tie between "team Jacob" and "team edward" by the way, edward isn't popular because he's "sparkly", he's popular because of his personallity. I mean, a guy that's dangerous, unreachable, and really so caring and sweet. Who wouldn't want him? While I'm talking and all, Jacob is really just a sweet (and hot) little kid that is a warewolf lol! Jacob is sweet, but pushy. Hey, have you ever considered that Edward is a really old guy hitting on a 16 year old girl. He's over 100 years old! But still sooooooo hot!

Twilight in general makes me really mad. The idea and storyline is great, characters and all, but the way it's presented is so horrible.. It's just bad writing. Mostly because she changed vampire lore. I mean, just because it's your world and your book doesn't mean that you can change all the traditional rules and get away with it!

An example of changing the rules is some 'vampire samurai' B movie I saw. It was so horrible. The idea was original, like Twilight, but the traditional rules being changed so much just left you like 'Huh?' and made it imberable to watch.

Theres alot of rules, but you can only change them if you know how to do it right without making it make someone who knows them go 'Huh?' . Besides that, her character design is horrible. Any good book should tell you what their archetype is without even thinking about it and have more then enough ques(that is if you know what they are), and they have none, which automatically means they're written with stereotypes or with nothing at all. No character works 100% (maybe 80% at most) with stereotypes, even side characters; side characters have their own little things going, but they aren't archetypes.

BTW; I have the book on archetypes, though not with me now, and it strongly advises against stereotypes. They're are about 70 of them and I used to spend hours reading it. It's called '50 master characters' and including the non-archetypes there are at least 130 models you can model characters after, so unless you have no idea what they are there is really no excuse as to why you couldn't find one out of 130 to choose from. If you can't find one that matches, something is wrong with your charecter!

I only know so much becasue I've been trying to write a story for 6 years or so and have done hours of research on it so in the end it isn't like twilight.

All of the above goes for Movies and Plays, too, any kind of story-telling!

....

But then again, I'm a really strict reader and it takes a lot for a book or story to be good for me. Only a few movies and series ever really hit me as good. Alot of my friends in RL have taken the time to read the book fully, and they say that the story is awesome but the way it's written could be so much better.

I wouldn't grace the book with being original.

EDWARD. strong handsome dangerous, bad boy, aka the overused and abused 'byronic hero' who has problems but she ignores them because of some strange love they possess. If you take english classes you should know this. Jane eyre has one (mr. rochester). Along with basically any romance novel ever. Come on, get original.

BELLA. damsel in distress. also, she is EXACTLY like every single girl in the world. Slightly insecure, boring, normal, has a decently hard life but not really, doesn't like parents... However, I must give Stephanie Meyers some props because she used this similarity to draw in every single girl to want to read more about who they can subconsiously transform to be themselves. An ordinary girl who is exactly like yourself meets an amazing guy... Who wouldn't want that?

The characters agitate me beyond imagination. And while reading the book I hated edward which is apparently impossible. And also, I thought of bella as stupid because just since he goes to your school doesn't make him safe. If it were real life she should have been much more careful meeting a guy she barely knows.

/rant

Um but yes, I do admit I read all four of the books and although the last one was completely innapropriate and induced mild nausea, it did surprise me. The plot was somewhat guessable but I did read them at a decent clip and I wanted to finish them and know what happened. I'm not sure if it is because I love books or I, too, found myself in bella. But overall, I think it is not original or great... It is a chick flick and if people ever have to read it for a school assignment I will search out the person who assigned it and sue them. xD

Lolz, I love everyone's opinion. I think it's cool that everyone feels so different about it, but the same. I think Jacob is awesome, I mean, I don't want to live forever with some guy who's as hard and cold as rock. What's so attractive about that?
