lorraine- I wish I could trust them to get along peacefully, it would make things easier. The dogs do that too, one of them will sit on the other to force them out of the way and chews on her ears while he's at it so that when you pet her she's all soggy.

I ended up being able to take both horses to the show. Prince did me proud behavior-wise. It rained before we got there and the whole place was muddy other than the sand arena which was still soggy. Probably the worse kind of conditions for the poor aqua-phobic to be in, but he did it and even crossed the puddle to get into the arena after an intense eying of it to make sure Nessy wasn't lurking in there. He also saw his first mop and didn't do to bad with letting me carry it, it was that darn bucket of water we had to put it in that did us in. He ended up knocking my glasses off trying to get away from it, but was nice enough to be a gentleman backing away from them so the ring steward could save me from horrible eyesight.

Prince is coming up in the world, he managed to snag third place in the boot race. I wish my dad had hauled himself out of the car long enough to catch that moment, I think Prince's owner would have been proud to see him putting up with his rider coming flying off him only to run under him in pursuit of boots. The best part of the day was the catalog race. They were running it two at a time and on the way back Prince and the other horse were neck and neck right over the line. His competitive side surprised me, he's never offered anything like that in terms of speed before and he proved me wrong thinking he was only middling fast. It was rewarding having him give me something I didn't know was there to ask for.

Tom got his slice of glory too. Out of over 30 horses crowded in the arena for egg and spoon me and Tom made it to 4th or 5th (I didn't see who dropped it first). After that he stayed at the trailer as moral support/baby sitter for Prince and another young horse that is from my 4H group since it was wickedly hot outside even with it being overcast and humid as could be. So I disappointed him badly for sure XD

I should call these the 'Never Ending Horse Stories: the Abridged Version' it would fit my need to ramble.

I never update here..haha I haven't been on in a while, but great news! ...for me anyway.
i took up riding lessons again! Weird how I met the woman, but now I go out to her house everyday and ride. I work for her mucking stalls and other "fun" chores around the barn, and one of her friends who is a VERY good, VERY reputable horse trainer and rider is my instructor! All for free! Which is a plus.
But anyway, about the horses! I ride 2 of four. The two I don't ride are Rya and Lladro (pronounced Yah-dro). Rya is a dark dark brown Thoroughbred who has been resting for about a year on account of her having foaled 6 months ago.
And the other one I don't ride is Lladro, Rya's colt. He is a bay Tb/Hanoverian, and his sire is some world class champ. He is going to be gorgeous when he grows up. his nickname is "monster" and "naughty Lladie" (pronounced yah-dee), because he truly is a monster. He is in that foal stage where they bite everyting and just plain like to terrorize everything in sight. fun..haha
And the two I ride are:
April who is an 8 yr. old chestnut paint mare. She is THE LAZIEST horse I think I have ever come across. and She's ornery too. You can't even get her to budge unless you have a whip and you are kicking and whipping her. (sounds cruel, I know...but it's the nice kind of kicking and whipping, not abuse! haha )
and Summer, who is oddly a gelding despite the name, is a 20 yr. old palomino Quarter Horse. He is the sweetest guy EVER! He's pretty much just perfect. It was so cute the other day when I went to clean out his stall I walked in his stall and the first thing he did was come trotting over and he licked the side of my face all the way from my chin to my forehead. Like I said...SO SWEET! haha

anyway, just thought I would share. I probably bored the lot of you to tears, but I wanted to share my excitement. Sorry about my ramblings!

if i got a 17 year old horse do u think it would have more medical bills than a younger one?

Daisy- That varies horse to horse. Mine is 23 this year and I've never had any major medical problems with him so his vet bills have been consistent over the years while I know a much younger horse that has had hoof problems it's whole life that means a lot of farrier bills for the owner. There are some vaccinations like the one for strangles that are not normally given to older horses unless you are hauling them to places where they require it so that is one less thing to pay for at shot time.

I would be worrying more about extra food and dental costs with an older horse. Most of the senior horses I've been around require more feed than when they were younger to keep them at the proper weight because once they drop weight it is hard to get an older horse to gain it back. If you are providing the hay you'll want to check hay prices because they are still way over inflated due to the drought last year in major hay producing states. Some require specialized senior horse feed and one 27 year old horse on the farm can't eat anything other than a mash mix as he chokes on dry grain. If you find that your horse has mild arthritis that can also factor into feeding as there are supplements for it that that can be given to the horse in their grain. Unless the horse comes to you with prior health problems already in place most of a senior horse's costs will be whats going in it's stomach barring something unforeseen like colic or lameness.

As for me, my little dog Mitsy is terribly NOT fond of water and my little sister decided it would be a good idea to set her in the lake! ggggrrrrrrr! cecelia, my brother, and I were saying"Dana don't put her in there you know she doesn't like water! and "now she's gonna be all gross and wet and all that!!" but no she decided not to listen! I don't know about Cameo cause she didn't go with us on vacation but before we left we gave her a bath in a little kiddy pool and she loved it!! I wish she were younger couse she loves the water!!

oh and Mitsy and I are trying to convince my mom to let us start doing the dancing thing that they do with dogs.... I am not sure what it's called officially anyway my mom is definitely considering it!!!!!

Well my 2 month old boxer Tod (we named him tod cuz he has a white dot on his neck and dot backwards it tod) is throwing up and we dont know what it is =(
My other dog Gizmo a 6 year old Miniature Schnauzer is doing fine although he is stressed whenever hes not by my mom =D
My guinea pig Spazz is doing fine although she seems to like it when i hand feed her, her hay other than actually eating it...
Other wise were doing good! =D

My dog, Dottie, the older one, got kicked by a horse. Luckily she's okay, they had to take out several of her teeth, and part of the upper jaw. My younger dog Moose, has lost some weight. Yay for him! LOL! I've been riding double on my horse, with a friend. We've also riden on her horse, he's an ex-race horse. My horse Gunner, has lost some weight, thanks to me riding him more. Oh yeah, we got a goldfish, but like three days after it died, then we got a new one, but like 15 days after it died. I wonder what we're doing wrong. Hm. We haven't gotten a new goldfish after the other one died. But, my horse learned how to "jump"! If there's a small jump, he normally just goes around it or knocks it over, but he actually went over it! At the trot too!!

Lil Angel: Have you taken Tod to the vet yet? If he throws up for more than three days in a row without any dietary change then you should probably take him. Spoiled little Spazz I guess some of them just like the extra attention.

Cowgirl:Sounds like you're having fun with your horses. Wish I was back in the saddle again *sighs* Are you using tap water for your fish's bowl? Some fish can't handle the chemicals in tap water. Happy trails!

Well I am using a friends computer right now so thats why you're seeing me back so soon. We found a farm for our llamas!!!!! It will officially be our farm on Monday so I'm whooping and hollering a ton!!! We are on double petsitting duty right now and our charges include at

The only sad thing is that we probably won't have internet service at my new house so my Sandbox days are definitely limited.

No, we use some solution to take the chemicals out of the tap water. That sucks, I hope you get back in the saddle soon though. I've been having soo much fun! I've been riding double, with the saddle and bareback. I went up the train, and I learned how to differenciate(sp) between the leads! I just taught a week of horse camp at the place where I board my horse.

My mini schnauzer got lost!!! And she was in heat!!!
