Cloud- Wild Stallion of the Rockies

I just saw this documentary on a horse named Cloud, the story starts when Cloud is a foal and follows him through adulthood, it is an amazing story and really brings into the light the plight of these beautiful wild horses. There is also a sequel to the story called Clouds Legacy-The wild Stallion returns and a third one called Cloud-Challange of the Stallions planned to air OCT 2009. For those of you who have not seen this series, I highly recommend it. There are also Breyer horse statues of Cloud and his family, Sitka, Boulder and another colt. Apparently the Bureau of Land Management is trying to destroy Cloud and his herd. Check out this site for ideas and ways that we can help this magnificent wild herd and stop the BLM from destroying them, wild horses are a large part of our history.

oh my goodness!! I met this lady at this fair thing called equine affair who for a living photographs his herd! that's awesome I will have to watch the documentaries!

That is so neat Lorraine, I would love to see Cloud and his family in person, he is a magnificent and beautiful horse.

I just read that the Bureau of Land Managements meeting is today. Yikes!!! I'm praying that everything goes in Cloud's favor and for all other wild horses out there. Unfortunately freedom will never be free.

Oh I know, I feel like I know Cloud from watching the documentaries and I for one would be heartbroken if they killed him. I can understand controlling the numbers so they don't starve to death but why kill them? It's not right.

I love those movies! I watched all of them. I cant wait for the next one. I like how these raise wild horse awareness and show how we can help them. I would hate if they kill Cloud and his family.

No I am not helping because I am unable. And also, as you can see from my post, I'm not whining about it either. I already ride and care for a rescued off the track thoroughbred and I don't have enough money to care for all the magical untrained, flearidden, nasty tempered mustangs that people can't seem to fully comprehend the situation of.

And if you can think of a better way to handle this issue, I would honestly be delighted. It is a huge issue and I truly do feel bad for the horses. ---

Ok, you know what? I am trying to help by trying to raise awareness of this issue. I am on a very limited budget, I have a very messed up back, I cannot work and I am trying for SSI, I live on 203.00 a month right now and if I could, I would be donating to help these horses. I don't appreciate being told that I don't know what's going on or that I don't know what I am doing, I posted this so people could watch the documentaries and possibly think of some ideas to help these horses. I am doing what I can, I didn't post this to get attacked, I have never done anything to you Bezzella and I don't appreciate it at all!

I wouldn't call it a personal attack on you Drmchaser, I've held this opinion ever since I decided to get involved in it. I am sorry if I hurt anybody's feelings in expressing my personal view.

And I appologize for the last line in my second post, that was completely unncessary and I will remove it. Sometimes when I get in debates I generalize...

Thank you for the apology Bezella, I really do wish that there was more that I could do to help them. I read somewhere in the links that there is some celebrity or something that bought a huge amount of acreage and wants the wild horses to be moved to this private land. I hope that it's true because I don't want these horses to be killed. I prayed tonight for help for these horses. I just hope that my prayers will be answered in the way I hope they are.

I am hoping that there is a solution. I know it seems hopeless but hey the mustang herd has been here long before most of us have. Why destroy them when they're just trying to live like us? I don't have a solution and at this point in my life probably can't help in any major way but when I can.... I will help them...... somehow...............

Well the meeting time has come and gone and I still don't know the results. I wish they would hurry up and post them. I have been praying that a better way comes along for these majestic animals.

Congress originally passed the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act in 1971 to protect our wild horses, but in 2004 this protection was gutted in a midnight maneuver by then-Senator Conrad Burns (R-Mont.). Then the federal Bureau of Land Management said it would consider killing more than 30,000 horses in holding pens.
H.R. 1018 helps to save tax dollars by keeping our mustangs on the range and using innovative and humane management tools, such as fertility control. We need your help to restore vital protections for the majestic and beautiful symbol of our American West -- our mustangs.
