...pay over 100 million for a sterile animal? What am I missing here?
just curious....
Rusty
(And I cannot get bids of 20 tokens for whole double endangered animals. What would players pay for them if I offered them for cash?....) |

i dunno - some of the pricing makes no sense to me - i guess some people just want certain animals really badly, and others dump rare+++ animals really cheaply |

Yeah. Sadly I think there's an overload of double endangered horsies right now... I have 10-15 I think... |

yeah it kind of is because then it drives the prices up, someones going to think well if that person sold for one over 100 mill, then I will try it too. I personally will not pay over 100 mill for a whole AE and I sure wouldn't pay that much for a sterile one. |

Supply and demand pretty much. Trouble is, when demand remains high and supply drops, you get "advantage" breeders who'll mass produce....
I'm like Drm, 100 mil is about my limit for a whole A/E...With steriles, taking into account lifespan, colour, training and availability of replacements...50 mil, usually. |

since i don't breed much I usually only prefer a whole animal if I expect to need to breed to replace (I don't trust free replacement policies since there's no guarantee the owner will still be playing the game when it comes time to replace). however if the animal will live long enough that there's no chance of needing to replace it within the next few years (real time), then I'm willing to pay just as much for a sterile as for a whole. i'm not naive enough to assume I'll still be playing this game in two or three years time when it comes time to replace the animal.
having said that, I'm usually pretty reluctant to bid on sterile animals at all unless I am really desperate to own that animal and I can't convince the owner to sell to me whole, AND I strongly suspect that there's no other way I'll be able to get my hands on that trait.
normally the moment i see "sterile only" in an auction I stop reading. I really can't be bothered going to all the trouble it will take to either convince the owner I'm honest enough to own a whole animal, or else buy it anyway then somehow manage to replace the animal when it retires and the owner either doesn't play or can't remember their free replacement promises. the way i see it, if an owner is too paranoid to trust anyone then they're neither deserving of my custom nor worth my stress. |

I'm stingy. I would pay up to 15 mil for a sterile ae, otherwise, I'm not consideiring it at all. I somehow managed to snap up only one AE for a million on the market. She's sterile, but it's worth it. As for what I would pay for a whole, up to 50 mil... It's not really worth it, even if they really scarce. The mosat I would pay for an endangred is 15 mil, for one trait.
Obviously, with my price ranges, I'm not getting anything good anytime soon.. |

I've also noticed some animals priced WAY too low. For example, there was an Endangered Crabbet Arabian Stud on the market for only $500! and another Threatened stud for $5,000! So I guess I can see why people are selling sterile animals, but me, I would never pay over $20mil for a sterile AE...

*Sighs* Unfortunately Rusty it has become a fact of life here on SBF. Either animals are ridiculously priced too low or priced too high. END & AEs especially. The fact is that so many irresponsible players are being given the oppurtunity to breed to rarer animals which are up for a dirt cheap stud.
They then go on to overbreed and sell the creatures for far too much or little. 100 mil is too much for any animal really. Possibly for a whole double AE if you could afford it. But I'd never buy any sterile animal for that. Sterile AEs should really be going for 20-40 mil. Only going a little higher if a special variation.
