My BBFF (Best Bunny Friend Forever) Thumper died yesterday... =( as u all know Arizona is one of the hottest states in the continental US, and my dad told me while I was at school he'd always take care of my animals... well he didn't know rabbits have gotta be kept cold or else they'd die so he did nothing. also my dad tested our water and found out the PH level was WAY wacky and we've been giving it to the rabbits for a year now, not anymore tho. Anyway now im stressed, I can't eat, I feel guilty for not being there to remind my dad. I've never had a rabbit die because we weren't responsible, they've always died naturally (old age) now that an animal died because of me or my dad i feel i should have been there to save him. I know i couldn't have done anything but then again i feel i could have. im a mess. I have nobody to talk to about my feelings, my parents are not sympathetic enough, my friends don't understand how much I love Thumper (well now its loved) Sad , and my brother is the most insensitive person alive. can somebody help me. It might help if you tell me it's my fault, or if u want to be nice u can say it wuzn't my fault. idk i just need something to brighten up my day (well now night) I feel like ive im in a deep whole i can't get out of! My three baby goats died of abortion, my rabbit cant have one litter without canablizing herself, and my rabbit has fleas again. i need help.

Thanx,
Daisy Dead

I know how you feel. A couple years ago, I went out to feed my rabbits, and one of them jumped out of the cage. Our dogs attacked it and killed it right in front of me while I was screaming for help. I've had so many rabbits killed by our dogs, it horrible. So we stopped raising them, but I know how you feel Daisy. *huggs*

thats sad. The same thing has happened to me 2 my dad used to let my rabbits roam the back yard and my best rabbit ever that i had when i wuz like 6 or 7 got attaked by a bobcat while i was eating break-fast then i held him and he died in my arms. the good thing about Thumper is i didn't acctually see him dead. I just came home from a friend's house and he told me he found him dead. =-( Sad

Daisy,

Last year i went to my aunt's house to go and visit my mom, becasue she lives several states away. I asked my dad to look over the rats for me(I hdad about 12 at the time, mostly babies) and told him exactly how, and specifially, NOT TO CLEAN THE CAGES because i couldn't trust him to clean them without me being home. While I was gone, he decided he should clean the cages besides my warning and put all the babys and their mother in a plastic container because he couldn't keep them to stay together. He forgot they needed air. 5 minutes later, all nine died by sufacation.

I know how you feel... My dad is also at fault for creating those babys in the first place by taking out the cage seperating when we had only four becasue it was important and he needed it. They bred like crazy and the result was 16 babys that really needed homes... only 1 is still alive now and with an owner i know. His sister died of cancer, and all his other siblings wedre given to animal welfare (and their mother) by my friend's mother.

You should try and coach him on how to take care of them. I know, i'm not saying thast he doesn't know, but my dad not knowing is the cause of all MY craziness! Maybe a little reminder, and a few calls, would help prevent things like this. Wink

It is so sad how the smallest and most subtle mistakes can lead to tragedies. Did you hear about the polo ponies? I would think each was worth over 100 grand... I'm sure your intentions were the best so just keep on trying and make sure to keep a close eye on all of their conditions. Smile

Never heard about the polo ponies.. what happened?

And, your welcome daisy. Sometimes, you never really see things coming, unfortunately. I had to teach my dad alot of things about how to take care of rats. Took him a while to catch on... all's fine now though, except for teh fact that I can't teach them tricks because he dissaproves of wherei try to teach them. I could try and teach them elsewhere, but, he disaprroves of teaching them anywhere in the house...

I never heard of the polo ponies either, and yes small things can become disasters, like one time I forgot to give a fish some food and it died somehow idk how but it was pretty sad (yes i give funerals to every animal i own lol)

I will still tell my dad how but I think this has taught him a lot already.

Thanx 4 the help guys!

Pardon my link-posting, but since several of you didn't hear and it isn't necessarily an advertisement:

That is so sad and maddening that 21 horses died because of someone's carelessness.
