|
|
For this contest you must draw a unicorn. It must clearly be an ungulate (hoofed animal), but that is where any resemblance to a horse stops. You could make it deer-like, or you could do something entirely different. It's up to you. Points will be awarded based on creativity and artistic skill.
The creature can be any colour, and be in any pose you like, but must display the typical traits of a unicorn. A full body shot will usually be required to demonstrate this, but if you can do it while displaying only part of its body that is fine.
Typical traits of the unicorn are:
- a single horn on its head
- cloven hooves
- a long tail with a tuft of hair on the end (similar to that of a lion)
You can be as creative as you like with these, and any additional aspects of the animal that you choose to include, so long as you do not include ones that are obviously not found on a unicorn, eg: two heads, six legs, etc. If you're not sure, ask me.
Optional traits include:
- feathering on the legs
- a spiral shape to the horn
You will not lose points if the animal you draw does not have any of the optional traits, or else has traits that are not listed here.
First prize will be 200mill and 30 tokens
Second prize will be 100mill and 9 tokens
Additional cash prizes will be offered to entries that were very good but didn't manage to place.
All players who enter will receive 1mill each.
Contest will close once sufficient number of entries have been received. No date has yet been set, and will be announced well before the contest ends.
In answer to a few questions I've received:
- Multiple entries are fine, you may enter as many times as you like.
- Prior creations are acceptable.
- I would be willing to accept winged unicorns, or kelpie unicorns, etc, so long as they meet all the criteria I've stated above.
Results: (click on the artist's name to see their entry)
1st place goes to bovi with their musk ox unicorn. I just loved the heavy build and thick mane of this creature. They have won 200mill and 30 tokens.
2nd place goes to Fawn with their rather unique sweet and delicate unicorn. They have won 100mill and 9 tokens.
Due to the absolutely gorgeous talent I've witnessed in this contest I decided I just had to award the following places to show my appreciation.
3rd place is jointly shared by milon, with their colourful peacock-inspired unicorn, and Fawn, with their beautifully feathered llama-like unicorn. They have each won 60mill.
4th place goes to Queso for their stunning, beautifully shaded, sandy bay unicorn. Although this artwork was too horse-like for what I was after in this contest, the skill displayed was just phenomenal, and I had to acknowledge it. For their effort Queso has won 40mill.
5th place is jointly shared by linksage, for their lion-inspired unicorn, and TashaWasha, for their spindly giraffe-like unicorn. They have each won 20mill.
Finally, consolation prizes of 5mill will be awarded each to EDZ and Danniell to show my appreciation for their efforts even though their entries weren't quite what I was after.
Congratulations to everyone who entered!

I'll be entering
I'm kind of confused on what you want for tail, though... Do you mean something like THIS?
Would it be okay if it was more horse-like - something like THIS, or do you only want tufted tails? |

Angel, the first was a good example of a tufted tail, which is what I'd prefer. Any variation on this theme is acceptable, but the full-on horse tail shown in the second picture was just too horsey for what I'm after.
jbeelendorf, to enter, simply make a picture and upload it to a site like photobucket, then post the link to it here. |

I'l try to get an entry in, but don't count on anything fantastic. Horses/ horse like creatures are my worst.
Oh, and are you wanting something realistic, or something cartoony? |

Okay. I'm buried in snow here so my connection is terrible and took forever to get this into my photobucket, but here it is...
How about a Dragonicorn?

EDZ, that's cute. the concept is interesting, but I'm afraid the 'unicorn' absolutely must be an ungulate and not have traits that are definitely not on a unicorn, so I can't accept it. I'll send you a mill for your efforts though. |

I'm sorry. I misunderstood that part. I just thought you were looking for a different animal-type unicorn. |
