I went to the shelter in Chipley looking for a puppy by the name of "Homer." He's incredibly emaciated and could really use a good home and a giant meal. Instead, I got a puppy that is simply a mutt and had the colouration of a Rottweiler.

My friend is holding her in those photographs. Anyway. We picked her up from the vet monday afternoon and took her home.
She lasted a total of three days. She caught parvo, and she died.
Her name was Rosalie. Not because of Twilight, but because it suited her; somehow.
Happy Thanksgiving. ]= |

Oh I'm so sorry! She's gorgeous! It's never easy to lose a pet, it doesn't matter how long you've had them. Your in my thoughts and prayers! I hope you can still have a decent Thanksgiving!

She was such a beautiful puppy, I am so sorry for your loss. Parvo takes longer then three days to lead to death. She had to have had parvo in the shelter, why didn't the shelter people catch it before she was adopted out.? I'd be calling the shelter and asking them that question. They should be made to replace that puppy, I know an animal can't just be replaced but you did pay money to adopt her. You should either be able to take home another puppy or get your money back. |

I don't know. She seemed fine for most of the week, and then all of a sudden she just couldn't move. Couldn't lift her head, so she just laid there, whimpering; eyes glazed.
The vet said that the shelter -should- give us another dog - but we should do older than six weeks. And that the fee covers a spay/neuter and we still have the credit to do that for any dog.
I have to wait until after xmas to get another dog though - all these plans made that don't accommodate a baby. ]=
Thanks, Drmchaser <3 |

Milo... I know just how you feel. You are in my prayers and I hope you feel better soon. What a sweet puppy. Rosalie is my favorite name, and was my first dog's name Even if you did name her after Twilight, I think it suited her and is a great name. In my heart and thinking about you ~

Wow, milon, that's so sad! My older sister's Akita pup, Attila, caught "parvo". The only diff between you're little pup's story and my sister's pup's story is that Attila made it through. But he's not a happy dog. He suffers from malnutrition 'cause the disease messed up his digestive track. He's way skinny, and he's a big dog so it's sad to see him like that. You're puppy is in a better place now, it's better she passed on than living through "parvo", because she wouldn't have been a very healthy or happy dog. *hugs* I hope you feel better soon.

I'm so very sorry to hear about your recent loss milon.
You should deffinatly contact the shelter about this, not only fir the fact that the puppy should not have been rehomed, but other dogs in that rescue will possibly have it also.
6 weeks seems a little young to be rehomed anyway! Was it with its mother? (again if so, she and any siblings will more than likely have parvo).
I'm sorry this happened to you hun. Your in my thoughts.
Take care of yourself xxxx |

Aww, I'm really sorry, its really hard to lose a pet when its so young. Definately do what mash says, just to check that none of the other dogs have it.

Well, the puppies were in the shelter, I guess they had been brought in without their mama - and when were there, they all looked relatively healthy. Unhappy, but healthy.
After Christmas I'm going back to get another ( a replacement, as heartless as that sounds ) because after paying that money I should get a dog. I guess I'll try someone older, maybe?
We have one other dog, right now, but he's six/seven and parvo wouldn't affect him. Age plus vaccinations. I wouldn't know if the ones at the shelter do, or don't.
thanks, all you guys <3 |
