*sigh* I can remember (not that long ago) when this game was addictive. Players strived to be able to afford animals above extremely rare, and when they could it was great because you had a higher class animal. Now threatened, endangered and even some AE animals are pretty much 10 a penny, because there has been a select few members who have bred and bred and bred, sold them dirt cheap and basically ruined (in my eyes) the satisfaction and achievement of becomeing a proud owner of a Endangered or AE animal.

When I first started, I thought it was great when I could afford my first Extremely rare animal. And new players seem to be able to afford enclosures so quickley now. I mean it took me ages to be able to afford ALL the enclosures. It took time and patience, but I learned to respect them more, because I had to work for it.

I'm sorry for going on, and ranting, but I feel that the ethics of the game has completely gone out of the window. I feel sad that I am no longer particulary wanting to come on here. My work for the ethical breeders assosiation seems to be completely fruitless as NO ONE (even some members pfft) even takes any notice. All they want is $$$.

*sigh* ok I'll shut up now.

Exactly Sad
Inflation has basically ruined everything. I started back when new players had only one cage... I preferred it that way - you had to work hard for all of it. Now, they're just giving it all out. Extremely Rare animals, once were millions, can sometimes barely sell for 500k now Sad

Hrrr. I haven't been around that long, I don't think. I only breed to get new colors and variations, when I do breed, and release all the mess ups. I just keep them for prestige and eventing. But I know what you mean, the was an End cat up for stud a while ago for extremely cheap. less than 100k cheap. If I remember correctly, less that 50k cheap. I messaged the owner and they said they wouldn't take it off as it would "only be a few more weeks until it was removed anyway". But a month can do a bunch of damage, and it has. Another problem is the Ragdolls. I was lucky enough to be able to breed one, which I will keep. But it's gotten out of hand...

I haven't been here yet for a year, but I know how you feel about other players overbreeding variations and taking them for granted. I go crazy when I welcome a new breed to my farm, I feel like I've won the big prize at a carnival game Laughing But anyway, I think it is a honor when you finally get to achieve the goal of having your first Endangered or AE animal, it is so cool. I love what Des said about newbies being like weeds overruning the place, that is exactly true. And players overbreeding and selling animals so cheap it's unreal makes me so angry. I feel so bad for the players that saved up thier tokens and worked so hard to create the variation, and then others treat it like trash. I know some say, Oh, it's just a stupid game, but some that have made it what it is have had to work very hard, and even spent some of their own REAL money! I agree. Even though I haven't ever been in the "old SBF", I'm sure it was much more like real farming, not an animal mill like it is to some players now. I wish that everyone could trust everyone with anything on the game, now there are players I as well as others, simply cannot trust, sometimes from the start..... Well, I think I've said my share, and you guys, maybe we could do something about this!

I agree with all of you...but what can we do? I have basically quit breeding any of my animals altogether. I dont stud out anything above ext. rare..or anything for that matter. I only breed to replace. It's sad that this is what things have come to. I feel horrible at my small loss of interest. It's just not fun anymore with so many newbies and such low prices. Theres simply no value in any of it anymore. I remember working SO SO hard to get even to the K9 kennel and it all seems more valuable the harder you work for it. If anyone has any ideas for a plan of action or something...do let me know! I would love to help save SBF in ANY WAY POSSIBLE!!!

Laughing I know right! Oh, well. I just guess we have to stick it out tough for now, until someone saves us from this contamination of newbie weeds!
They are ruining our beautiful garden (or have they already ruined it?).

You know, we were all newbies once. If the game never gets new players it will collapse and die, so maybe rather than being unfriendly towards new players it might be more productive to help them out to understand the game better and therefore not make the mistakes that make the game less fun for everyone else.

Yep, I remember when an exotic animal was rare, and people were desperate to get to the pasture. I remember when the first person reached inconcievable. Tokens were basically non-existent and 70K could get you 100 of them. People were amazed when someone bought 100 tokens from me for 10million! It's not fair to say newbies are weeds but it would be great if thing could be back to YOUNG SBF again. Maybe if a few players just emptied their accounts and started over? Except that would waste real life money.

I know what you're saying Misty, and believe me I have tried SO hard to educate these young whipper snappers but to no avail. They don't seem to care that they are ruining the game for others through over breeding. They just get their first Endangered or AE animal and breed it until it can't breed no more. And what for? A few $k. It sounds strange but I actually preffered when Endangered animals cost like $40mill. I treasured those animals and wanted to keep the value of them more.

Oh, mash, I completely understand. It's having an effect on everyone else, too. Some people don't even trust me anymore, and I have NEVER overbred anything! Not even when I was new. Sigh. I remember that I got my first very rare animal. It was a ferret. Cost me a 100k. I was broke after that! But I loved that gal so much! She meant more than if I went to the market today, and there would be trillions of them to pick from.

Sorry about what I said, newbies ruining the game and all, but it is really true in some cases. We were all new once, but I don't overbreed, now, or in the past. A large majority of newbies now are overpopulating the rare variations. It's hard to know who you can and can't trust. I know I wasn't here a few years ago when the game first started, but it has changed a lot since then when I joined last year. I respect newbies and am glad they are interested in the game, but I simply do not put up with the ones that scam, overbreed or sell animals dirt cheap (especially when they are my variation or were my animals once) when they should be sold carefully and for what they're worth. If you think about it, there are hundreds of of newbies coming in weekly, and some don't even stay that long. I have the same problem with my 4H club. People join and then stay for a few days and then quit, and cannot make up their minds, and come back and leave again. It makes me upset for myself and the others that are committed to it and spend time and money for something they take seriously. I know that in my 4H club, I think the people that are the most commited and really want to do it, should be the ones who stay. Newbies, overbreeders, scammers, and disrespectful players are engulfing SandBox Farm. I'm not trying to hurt or accuse anyone personally, but what I'm saying is true to some extent in everyones' eyes.

i probably did breed some more then i should have but when i started out playing i didnt even join the forum to begin with, i came here because my less rare animals didnt hail any money, and my prestige was actualy negative

and i knew because i played VP i must be doing something wrong, or there must be another way to solve things

once i got it i imported money from vp to be able to invest more wisely and get my prestige up, selling the animals i didnt need to the then corect prices for their levels by checking the marketplace prices and releasing the rest because i sudenly saw no reason to make $50 as between wining a couple drafts and importing money $50 didnt do me any good.

i think thats fairly normal, its a missunderstanding, i didnt even know that breeds was made by other players in most cases to begin with.

I think a lot of players join and play on their own before finding their way to the community and starting to learn how the game is patched togheter.

I can hardly find the motivation to get on here, let alone take a turn, anymore. I might get a little more time during the winter when both of my jobs slow down...
