Events and exams are the most common way If you have an overpopulated/overpopulated animals, it's generally a good idea to set them to 'Reduce Exam Cost' and to get as many different variations on your farm as possible. That way, when you take exams, you will gain money instead of lose it.
Making events for popular breeds - cats, dogs, horses, et cetera - is also a good money maker, as a lot of people will usually enter them. If you have an animal maxed in speed (at NW! - see the Contribution section for more on that if you don't know what it means) with higher rarities/specials, then it'll usually do better in events, too.
Art used to be a really big thing here. It's died down, but if you're good, art contests usually have really big prizes Most contests include a prize just for entering.

also for geting many animals on farm, save up the exams and advertise with free training

this pay out because you have many animals when you take the exams, so you get high prestige

but you dont have many animals normaly, so on the normal day when the computer reset it reads you have few animals, and such gives you more exams

the more animals you got the less exams you get each day

+ older players often have a lot of rare animals, which gain you more prestige value then say an op/op, normaly animals you yourself will have a hard time geting your hands on untill such time you saved up more money
