I find it very disconcerting that there are a number of the "overpopulated" animals for sale on the market, and it is mainly 3 people who seem to breeding and selling these animals. I also find it sad that even members of the "ethical breeders" are still selling these animals (somewhat constantly sometimes) and not even bothering to at least steralize.

I seriously feel like I'm hitting my head against a brick wall. I'm so close to giving up this fight. Sad

I just came back after being away from the game for some time, and am quite shocked to see the numbers of rare endangered and AE animals around. This scared me a bit as i have one endangered and one AE creation. I decided to check them out and nearly had a heart attack when i saw that my Rocky Mountain wolves went from about 10 individuals to 89. I decided I'd see who has them and how many they have. I was semi happy to see that actually 45 of them are past the age when they pass, so that leaves 44. Most the people that have them only have 2 or 3 but there are one or 2 that have way more. As for my AE they seem to have more reasonable owners and counting my breeding pair there is only about 10, so I'm happy about that. If there is any way I could help with this problem I would be happy too.

Are we assigning people certain variations to be responsible for yet? I'll take on a couple...

I bought a bunch of wolves from another player and just released 4 of the Rocky Mountain Wolves and two more are really old and almost ready to retire. I have also been trying to do my part by sending pm's, if I see an animal who's stud price is way too low. Also I have been sending messages to people who have or are about to sell an animal to someone I know is an over breeder.

I just went through and sterilized a lot of my camelids.
got another point to make!
Did you realize that most of the camelids on the market are inbred. On their bloodlines you'll see a great grandpa on the dams side and then you'll find out that he's the sire as well. Since the game allows you to breed past grandparents it's easy to think that your animal is not inbred but I just realized that a lot of mine are Embarassed So that's why I sterilized quite a few of them. I know some people do this in real life (t's called linebreeding) I don't know about you but I don't want my animals inbred or involved in linebreeding. I also know that when you make a ne creation that's it's necessary to linebreed to get more of the color/detail/variation/ but I wish that more people would take a stand and not support linebreeding animals of all species! Smile

Tanitsja, messages have been going out to stud owners as well as people selling them. I would just like to point out though that I'm doing this pretty much single handedly at the moment and after all I DO work.

I understand what you're saying and will try to get the list done alphabetically but it wont happen over night.

As for the Ragdoll's.....well....people just keep on breeding more and more no matter HOW many times I PM them....

I know... Im sterilizing mine

Thank you koneko. I'm glad to see that someone on here is being responsible.

I would like to point out, that The ethical Breeders Assosiation doesn't condemn breeding full stop, all we ask is that you are sensible and don't overbreed just for profit. Steralize any which you sell to people you don't know/trust. And release any mis-breedings (offspring which wasn't what you wanted).

I am new as of two days ago to SandBoxFarm. Before I even read any topics about responsible breeding, I had already sterilized and released a few of the overpopulated ones. I am very pleased to see that others are doing the same. I still have much to learn as I am very new here but I'm having fun! This place is addictive.

Just wanted to say hello.

It's great to see some new faces here!

I haven't been really active here for awhile, so the assignment of variations to safeguard has been neglected for some time. I'm wondering if we still would like to each safeguard a few of these by ourselves, if we'd like to do so in teams or groups, or if we'd all like to focus on a specific variation or color for a pre-determined length of time, say, a two-week period or a month? Maybe we can have a "critical" species we all focus on for awhile until we're satisfied (one that's really out-of-control) while we all have side projects that aren't quite as bad, but still need attention.

Thoughts? Recommendations? I'm all ears!
