My friends and I got together a few years ago and started hosted our own shows.
We got tired of having to get up at 4 AM and drive up to Pheniox.

Planning an AR only in June or July, and we have a Performance only in Sept.
This year we doing our mini show with the performance show.
Also have one in Oct.

Let's see.....there's Jail Break in Feb, a mini show and High Noon.
Those are the main ones we have here. The AR show might not happen......
Phenoix has a bunch of smaller shows, but I don't go to them, and the Pheniox people don't always come down for the Tucson shows......

My sister and I used to put together fun shows. Where it was bring your own table(s), a food dish to share, it cost like $5 entry, we used recycled ribbons and Grand and Res. Grand split the money collected from entries. We also discussed looking into doing another as we miss them. If the local shows stop (I know of one here I'd read isn't going to happen this year) I'd like to put together something else (the costs are just so much more to put on a NAN qualifying show).

Fun shows are fun. Smile

WE had one in Feb(I think) I was for my friend who was moving to TX.

Classlist was simple, and centerede around our favorite molds.
Only 5 people were invited and 4 showed up.

Very private going away party/show. Smile

Had a NAN halloween fun show and a Christmas Fun show.
These were just for us local people. The Christmas show this t-year we had a new shower come. Just a kid, but she's hooked and has started hitting the big shows.
Love getting the kids started. Smile

AZ Live had 3 this year and one was really interested in etching. Smile
So of course we(my friend and I) had to help her out.

My parents adopted 6 kids when I was in my twenties. All but one showed regularly with me. Everyone always commented how well behaved they were (youngest was 5 when I started them showing) and loved having them at the shows here. After a couple years of showing they often volunteered to help out from leg work to judging novice shows. They all tried their hands at customizing as well.

From day one they were taught to enjoy the show and friends at the show, if ribbons were won it was a plus but they wouldn't enjoy the shows if they expected the ribbons. They learned it well and were usually fortunate enough to take home a pile of ribbons too.

There's no future in the hobby if we can't get kids involved and get them hooked. Very Happy

I've done that for friend's children. Usually I buy something they can play with (horse wise) and buy better horses that get put up on display (same way I did it with the kids my parents adopted). Next is my niece who just turned 2. I keep telling my sister (not the one involved in the hobby) she needs to get shelving put up in the bedroom so there's somewhere to put the 'good' horses. I've already been giving my niece ones for play.

My nephew comes to me to tell me he wants a horse (real) and my sister threatens me with bodily harm if I even think about it! Razz I've told her since Anthony was born (6 years ago) I was going to hook her kids on horses. Laughing

I've been busy the past few weeks, have a show coming up and need stuff to sell.

Ya'll don't know how lucky you arre to have acess to real horses. I'd love to learn to ride better and to jump.
Getting old though, knees aren't that good anymore, back neither. Smile
Stuck with plastic ones for now.

Yes, check the site again; there are some new pics my riding instructor posted up. PM me when/if you try her on a model! I'd love to see, and maybe buy it! I think I've seen your work before. Great GREAT job! I'm glad you like her. I think it's great that you can etch. I love model horses, too. I have to pinch my self everyday to make sure that I'm not dreaming. I am very thankful for my horsey life Very Happy I love my Breyer horses almost as much, though, I fell silly for that Razz

Feel free to try Flicka on a model! Please PM me if/when you do!!!

I know what you mean. I went the route for a short time. Had hundreds of dollars in tack/accessories sitting in the tack box in trad and classic scale. But finally decided to trade/sell it all. I have been thinking about stablemate performance..but that's even harder to tack up than the larger scales!

Thanks so much, Dumbledore! When/If you Etch her, please let me know, I'd LOVE to see. Yeah, the jumps are very fun . I love the logs with spiderwebs all over it. That was the best Halloween party I'd ever been to. I could try to make replicas for you of the jumps, I think you do Stablemates scale, correct? I usually create Traditional, but I could definetly try to make some Stablemate jumps if interested?

That would be neat. Maybe one for Misty??
She's my best performance horse right now, and she could always use a good jump.

Now to find an English saddle and bridle that fits better.......

I'll start hunmting for a mold for Flicka..Smile

When I can.

Had one on MyAuctionBarn, will be putting up more.

I just have to wait till my friend comes out to paint the details. She does the eyes, hooves and any shading needed.
I am not that good at painting.

Here's her Webshots album. She doesn't have the picstures of the Stone Chips POny she's painting for me up anymore. She's doing her like Misty. Smile

Yes, Misty is my favorite.
