Allright, this is just a little update on interesting things in my life.
At the barn, I was busy working when another of the barn gals came in with this little bucket. Inside was a tiny baby mouse. I mean tiny. Like, smaller than your thumb. He was so young, he was still blind and deaf. She had found him out on the open ground; either he had fallen out of his nest or our barn cats had gotten to the rest of his family.
Now, I'm not that big of a softie, and this guy looked pretty sick. We were thinking of just putting him outside where we got him and leaving him to die, but since I allready have rodents at home I thought maybe I could add another.
I took him and tried to feed him some milk with a little dropper (a thoroughly-washed out wormer, actually), but he just wasn't eating anything.
I was about to give up when one of our lessons came in and offered to take him to a wildlife sanctuary. She took him and brought him there as soon as her lesson was done. It was a really sweet offer, but I don't have high hopes for him.
I'm pretty sure he's dead by now. Part of me doesn't mind that so much. It's just a mouse.
Still, I surprised myself by naming him before it left.
His name was Despereaux. |

Well, I hope the little guy makes it. If I had found it, and it was healthy, I would have put it in with my mouse that is already raising pups. Still, have hope! =D |
