Come here to tell about your horsey life (not on SBF), your horses, riding lessons, or just the sake of horses! Breyer horses count, too! Pictures, links, stories, and poems are also allowed and loved on here! You can ask me questions about my horsey life, too! I love hearing about others horse stuff and it's fun to hear about Breyer, too! My Breyer "Ranch" is called Dreaming River Ranch, off of my SBF account. The horses are usually named after my Breyers on here. Well, enjoy!

Cool! These forums are always nice. I don't have many Breyers compared to some people *cough EDZ cough* But I am very proud of my small collection. I used to call the "farm" Stars And Stripes Breyers. They accidentally went up to the attic though so I haven't seen them in a while. I also love My Little Pony's. The website is stupid but the ponies are so adorable.I have about 8 of them I think.
Lessons are hopefully starting soon.We went to the barn and said hi to the horses and helped muck a little bit. They were all feeling their oats. lol |

Awwww! Why did you put your Breyers in the attic? Do you still remember the ones you had? How many does EDZ have, do you know?
I am glad lessons are coming up for you, they are always a blast for me!

They were shipped up there with some old toys from when I was really little. I miss them but our attic really creeps me out.I about went through the floor once.
I had a couple from thrift stores that I got for fifty cents that turned out nice with a little bath. |

Videos and Websites depend on which they are and there is a place for stories and poems on the boards. That's not here in the general forum. If I find stories and poems posted I will be locking this thread. Again, there is a forum for stories, poems and the like elsewhere on the boards.
As for Breyers, I have somewhere around one thousand of them (well, model horses in general. Breyer, Peter Stone and Resins). I'm just coming back from hobby burnout but I photo and live show models (live show it's been a while though), I customize mostly stablemate scale models (move body parts, resculpt a little and repaint them). I'm the vp of an online model horse club and in the past I've run two snail mail model horse clubs (North American Stallions and Geldings Association and the North American Mare Association). I recieved my first Breyer over 30 years ago.
I've owned and ridden in the past but due to hip trouble I can no longer ride and finally came to terms with that after my last horse ended up a lawn ornament for a couple years. When I came to terms with my inability to ride and enjoy it I gave both the mare and her colt to a good friend of mine and her family so I could still see them when I wanted to and they'd no longer be decorations for the pasture.
Prior to that I'd owned horses and ridden for 25+ years. I miss riding and owning my own but spending days laid up in bed after riding for a short time I'll just have to deal with it.

I'm been riding my butt off getting the horses ready for show season. My poor legs are sore lol.
I had a great clinic on Saturday with a big jumper trainer. He pushed me and Winnie (my mare, she's a chestnut Hano/Tb) pretty hard, but we both had a lot of fun. Lots of jumps (most around 3'3-3'6) sharp turns, galloping, crazy angles and all that fun stuff. Then on Sunday I gave Winn an easy workout and focused on Tonto, the 4 year old paint pony I'm training. Something in his little brain clicked and he discovered that he LOVES to jump! I was doing a little crossrail course with him and after like the 3rd jump I could feel him say "Aha! I like this!" and he sped up and started searching for the next fence He doesn't really know his leads yet, but he was doing so well I decided to see if he would pick them up over fences on a little course and what do you know, he got every one! I'm so proud of the little midget!
I have a schooling show coming up on Saturday and Tonto's owners will be there so I'm a bit nervous. Hopefully we'll get crossrail champions lol Then Winn and I will do the 2'9 Eqs and medal classes and probably a 3' medal and hunter class depending on how she's feeling (typical moody mare lol) Its just for fun to get ready for the big shows that will start in a month.
What sort of riding do you do BarrelSis? |

Ohmygoodlordylord.
I can talk just about anyone's ear off about meh ponies.
Just ask Cec.
Spartan is mingling somewhere between a really deep, dark metallic gray and black
He's pretty good tempered the majority of the time.
he knows that he's a spoiled baby though
He's a big cuddle bunny, too, which is unusual for a stallion.
If anyone touches me, though, he'll go all ninja on them. My boyfriend kissed me in front of him once, and Spartain stuck his big ol' head between the two of us and slobbered all over him.
That's Spartan for ya. He's pretty well rounded [ahem...in more ways than one]. He does needs to go on a diet, but he can do light western/trail, if not competition caliber. He's an excellent jumper, though. Beautiful movement and conformation. He's got this big ole barrel-chest that's a struggly just to wrap my legs around, and a long, sloping back, perfect for bareback riding
About a month ago, our barn had our semi-annual cookout/barbeque and rodeo games. Everyone has to ride bareback, which, believe me, is a lot harder than it looks. Haha, our team won the barrel racing, though. And I got wet down to my ribs bobbing for apples with Spartan. All in all, it was a hilarious day and my...>>.>> <<.<<...donkey hurt for a week after.
haha. I could go on all day, but I'm hungryyy. |

Well, I have no horse (as yet). There is a horse where I work which I would dearly love (and he's for sale) but he needs a lot of work doing with him and I don't think I would be able to do him justice.
I'm hoping to have a go and train him a little (as this is my passion) and then IF I get along with him I will consider buying.
Riding lessons are going ok. Back at riding after a 3 year break. First lesson was very hard and I walked like John Wayne for a WEEK! Second lesson wasn't so bad. My third lesson will be Friday hopefully.
I'm not jumping at the moment but before I was jumping around 4ft. I LOVE to jump. Basically that's it |

Well, I've got a couple of really, reeeeally old Breyer models, I luff them lots. Besides that, I collect micro mini's. I have every one of Breyer's "mini whinnies" (it's pretty sad, actually, they are supposed to be for small children, but they are cheap and easy to store, so I can get lots and lots of them). I also have a couple of nice Empire models (they were from 1999, and I think the company has now gone out of buisiness? Because I can't find any more that look remotely like them) and several other strange ones that I think were bought out by Breyers.
Riding?!? *screams* I love riding! *screams again*
Hehe, I don't own a horse right now, but I do lease a gorgeous TB mare. She's still a little green, even at age 8; I just took her in her first show season last year. I really want to do some 2- or 3-phases with her, though, she loves to jump (and so do I) and we both like dressage.
...
Ah yes, dressage. Well, I'm not that good at it yet (I'm only at training level) but I do love it. We go to dresssage clinics as often as we can since the barn I ride at isn't really a dressage type place.
I'm currently working off lessons, and I'm delighted with it! I'm at the barn about 6 hours a day (no lie) and 3-4 days a week. I get home each night at about 9:00 P.M. or later, lol. But I wouldn't give it up for anything.
I've taken a small break from jumping; I used to be pretty into it but I started freezing up on the courses and freaking out. The horse I learned to jump on refused alot so I got into the horrid habit of expecting to stop at every jump. It also made me extremely paranoid about going over the horse's neck when I was jumping. A couple of falls didn't help my confidence any, either. So, I just took a little breather while I got used to the horse I am riding now, and I started to work myself back into it. I now love it! The horse I am on now is really a sweetheart; she'd pretty much jump the moon if I pointed her at it. She does like to run away with me a bit, but I'll take that over stopping any day! Every once in awhile I'll jump on one of our barn's resident jumpers; a little 13.3h pony.
The pony loves to jump. She adores it.
Really.
Funny story; I was warming her up, and she had her ears back and she kept trying to break. She wanted none of this "cantering" stuff. It comes from having small lessons on her all day. After awhile, I went to take her over the 2'6"-3' course that was set up in the ring. She immediately pricked her ears forward, started speeding toward the course, and I found myself struggling to keep her slowed down. After I had taken the course once, I brought her back to a trot and let her relax a little. Once she was off the course and back just trotting around the ring, ears went back again and she immediatly tried to slow down. The change was instant.
Then we went up to canter to take the course again.
Now, in the case of 13.3h pony vs. 3' jump, the three-footer was over her eyes. And yet here she was, dragging me toward the course again. Once we are done with the entire course (again) I'm satisfied and I bring her back down to a walk.
It was the middle of summer. She's really tired now. So I give her a long rein and let her walk out. Ears go back, and she walks along just as slow as she pleases.
Just one problem. We get around to the place in the ring where I had asked her to canter last time, and the lazy little lesson pony pricks her ears up, stares at the highest jump on the course (which was really only about 3'2"), and picks up a canter again, and starts heading toward the course. It took my by surprise, so I pretty much just steer and slow her down with my legs until I can grab enough of the reins to really slow her down. She breaks back to a walk. Ears go back, and she walks along slow again. I don't give her quite as long a rein this time. I swear, I could feel her glaring at me while we walked along.
...wow, sorry for babbling there. I just thought that was really funny. So, yeah, I ride that pony every once in awhile when I really want to jump. My lease horse is good at jumping, too, I'm just not good enough for her yet.

lol, that is funny. Bless her, I used to ride a pony like that.
One day I was being used as a guinea pig for a jump course being used in compertition later that afternoon. We'd done the course once, then went into jump off mode. After we'd jumped the last jump I had to run him in circles to slow him down. I THOUGHT I'd got him back under control, but then he decided to jump the WHOLE course again BACKWARDS. (Starting from the last jump) He also took me by surprise and we'd jumped about half the course before I could stop him!!!
But I LOVED that little pony. He was such a speed merchant |

There's a zillion sites that involve breyers and model horses in general, from showing to customizing to collecting and much of anything else for it as well.
*wonders if she still has her Terri DeWit custom* I so need to get the rest of my collection unpacked, I'm beginning to forget which I still have. I have now been reminded why I hated moving so much..one + explorer trip full of model horses and a good portion of them are still packed after a year and a half. |

hey, Jinx. What online model horse club is that? I belong to BMHR, but I get emails from IPABRA, TOPSA, and Toyhorsehaven. I've collected Breyers since my Grandma got me my first ones waaayy back in the early 70's. The Clydesdale Mare and Foal set that had blankets and were Chestnut, the Clyde Stally #80, and the classic Andalusian set. I still have them all, too. ) |

EDZ, your still on THH?? Are you still showing? Don't remeber if I saw any of your horses there when I judged?
I have a ton of Breyers, and a tons of bodies. Which is odd because I don't customize them.
I Live SHow them as well as Photo SHow and have meade it to one NAN, and manged to get a top ten. My frist and only.
My little Chincoteauge Pony,Beach Bum won for me. He's my fav, but I can't find him and have a bad feeling about what happen to him.
My friend who paints for me, has done another pony. Cigar Song, a buckskin Chincoteague Pony.
Most of my stable are Chincoteague POnies and Morgans, and I mainly collect Stablemates. Can't afford the big guys.
Also have a ton of Misty's, and one, Meandering Misty travels. She's been to TX,All over Tucson, Tombstone, and went camping on year.
This year she's going to the Grand Canyon, and maybe Breyerfest. |
