Ok well some of you may remember a couple of weeks ago, I posted about loaning a horse from somebody.

Basically this person has offered to sell the horse for £1,000. Me personally think that the price is a bit steep for what the horse is...

He is a 9yr old gelding. From gypsy stock (no pedigree) he WAS trained when he was younger but has had NOTHING done with him for about 5yrs so will need re-training. He has a passport and everything. But i still think the price is too much...I was thinking that top line would be £800.

Please tell me what you think. Afterall I've never purchased a horse before and am not sure at what price they sell for.
Thanks
mash

(sorry made a slight mistake on the origional price) £1,000 NOT £1,000,000

I'm not sure what the exchange rate for American money and English pounds is but I think that horse would be between 800-1000 dollars American money.Though some people are cheaper and some are much more expensive.Good luck whatever your decision. Smile

I'm not really sure what the value/price of things in England[is it?] is compared to English currency, but I think if I were to sell the horse I would sell it a couple hundred dollars cheaper. Maybe 500-600. Especially if it needs retraining. That would be a big project horse.

Hope I helped. =]

Its hard to find horses for cheaper than £1500 now and if they are they are usually foals or shetland ponies.

I agree with LouLou, in England £1000 is considered an ok price (in my view anyway) most are as LouLou said £1500 or over... I think if you really want it for a bit less then see if they will bring the price down a bit mash but if they don't then i would say go for it! Very Happy

Thanks guys for all your comments and help. I am still trying to weigh up the pros and cons. After all it isn't a decision to be taken lightly. A lifetime commitment with a hefty financial loss lol Very Happy
