|
|
Anyone have any good'uns? And I don't mean the stupid ones with morals and such, I'm just curious to see the different mottos everyone else has.
Hmm, I'll start off with a couple of my own, and maybe if I get to it I can dig up a couple from House. They shouldn't be too hard to find; pretty much every other line is either a metaphor or a slightly-twisted axiom from House.
"People are idiots..."
*chuckles*
So, here are my two favorites:
Life is like an enormous chess game. You can win, you can lose. Or, you can skip the game entirely and just mess around with the playing pieces.
Along with this you see an illustration of a girl setting up a dressage arena on the chess board with the pawns as the arena walls and the knights doing a sidepass at 'J.'
Oh, and this one:
Life is like a card game that has been rigged against you from the start. Only difference? To fold is to die.
Somewhat morbid, I know, but true.
Last one:
The "Pursuit of Happiness" is like chasing a rainbow; try and catch it and it just runs away. |

The only way to learn to love something is to realize it might be lost.
If you don't have anything nice to say, come over here and sit by me. |

I have, um a lot.
But, I'll only list a few as to not bore you all, :
• Everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end.
• Sometimes, the person you want most you're better off without \\ Maybe what you've always wanted was never actually there.
[ geez, like rub it in >_> ]
• Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.
• Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why they call it the present.
• Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
• One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.
[ what if I consent to creep, though I know I'm supposed to soar? ]
• The only way to have a friend is to be one.
[ if it was only that easy -_- ]
should I stop now?
One more, just for good luck...?
• Money can buy everything except love, immortality, silence, and peace.
The funny thing ( to me, anyway -.- ), is that I don't live by a single one of these. I'm the person that hides in the corners and strays from the group, the person that doesn't believe in anything because it never happened. |

Malcolm Frazer, one time Prime Minister of Australia once said about the state of the nation: "Life isn't meant to be easy." At the time we had major depression and high inflation. Life WASN'T easy.
Personally I don't like politians, for while they may start out full of good ideas and ethics, they tend to lose them when the time comes that we need them most. So for me I modified the quote, added a bit, and made it my catchall: "Life wasn't meant to be boring... but why does it have to be so INTERESTING?"

I saw this one on an add I still love it:
"They live everyday like life's a joke-and death's the punchline"
I just get these mental images of people dying and then bursting into laughter, or more morbidly, people watching others dying and commenting either: "That's lame", "Seen it before", "haha, I know that one." or "THAT WAS AWESOME! ROFL!"

Everything happens for a reason. Even if we don't understand why.
Not really a saying but something I follow. The rule of 3. Everything you put out into the world comes back on you three fold. |
