This is just a topic for you to either brag, post pictures,or talk about what's going on in your life right now and any pet stories. And it would be appreciated if after somebody posts the next person becomes their pm buddy.Just a way to make new friends! (:
I'll start.
I've been very busy over weekends with llama activities. We got to transport a llama in the back of our minivan last Saturday. That was a riot.Llamas have become a big part of my life and I hope many others will come to know llamas as wonderful friends and pets.
Sugarbaby my bunny has been doing well lately.I've been worried a little because he has had runny eyes for the last three days.He acts fine but I don't want him to get snuffles.
All of the kitties are doing fine. They were just let loose in the house to try to catch the mouse that has taken up residence in our kitchen.Poor mouse ):.I've been trying t-touch on them and they have been responding well.I've been reading a book called The Tellington TTouch.I've used the techniques before and am still learning more.
Cuddles has been enjoying short walks up the alley and is making friends with our neighbor's rabbits. They sniff noses through the cage door. lolShe is growing her fur out for a show cut.She looks really fat now!
Riding lessons will hopefully start up soon. The outdoor arena has been a muddy mess and the weather hs been fierce this year.I miss Penny so much though. She'll be mad next time I see her since I haven't visited for over a month.
Our friends dachsund Emmy ws just diagnosed with Cushing's Disease.I hope she'll be alright but she's had the symptoms for a while and ............I don't know.Do any of you know about Cushing's?

Don't be shy and tell all about yor pets!

I had no idea dogs got cushings! I thought it was just a horse thing, I guess you learn something new each day Very Happy I hope that he doesn't progress too quickly.

Hmm, I'll start with the horses. My mare Winnie has been really improving very quickly over the last month or so. She is starting to correctly ballance herself without me having to work to much for it, I just do a small "lifting" half-hault every other stride or so and she balances up and collects quite nicely. I'm so proud of my big monkey, I think she finally realised that I wont let her get by on "pretty" like she has done for so long and that she actually has to engage and work for it.

I also have a new pony project! Tonto is a 4 year old shrunken tricolor paint gelding (his parents are both 15'3 hh but he tropped out at about 13 hh for some reason.) I'm training him for his owners to be a fancy little show pony for their son. He's really bright (I taught him turn on the forehand in 1 day Shocked) and is a blast to ride. He likes to get quick but is learning very quickly that this is unacceptable. Tonto has a bit of an attitude, but I think with more training he will get more compliant. I took him over some tiny little crossrails a few days ago and he was a really good boy considering its only the 4th or 5th time he's been jumped. He's a little cuddle-bug on the ground, I swear he's trying to butter me up lol

My dog was recialntly diagnosed with elbow desplaysia wich sucks, but the pills we have her on seem to be helping. She's still her silly old self.

I hope you can start riding soon Cecelia, I'm sure Penny misses you.

Tonto sounds adorable! Some horses are so bright and eager to please!
I'm sorry about your dog.Is he a big dog.Normally the larger breeds are more prone to it.There's a therapy mastiff named Max that goes to our local public school. He has hip dysplasia so they got hima dachsund puppy to get him energized.I don't know hpw that would help but it has.Max loves the puppy! lol, yep Tonto is like a mulitcolored marshmallow! He can be a bit of a brat, but he's so dang cute it's hard to stay mad at him. :3

Ginger (my dog) is a golden and is 74 lbs (and on the lean side too!). She's much bigger than the breed standard which I think is one of the reasons she has the dysplasia. I love Mastiffs! They are such a neat breed. I can just imagine this huge Hastiff playing with a little doxie lol! How cute Very Happy

That's how Comet is at my riding stable. He's a little bay mixed breed pony but you can do anything with him on the ground but he can be a stinker when you ride him.
Wow that's big for a golden! Maybe you'll find a way to keep her energized and comfortable even with the dysplasia. and Max and the dachsie are adorable. Smile

She goes on 3 walks a day so she doesn't really have a problem with getting enough excersise lol. She's also on a painkiller and a joint supplement so she's not in much pain.

lol, that's the classic pony attitude for you. Tonto was a pain undersaddle when I first started riding him, but he figured out pretty quickly that I don't tolerate pony tantrums or other nonsence lol

Cushings disease is becoming more common now in dogs....

I did a whole project on it a while ago for my NVQ as we had a dog at the sanctuary with it. I can't remember much about it though...

(If I am correct) Cushings is caused by a tumor in the pituitry gland (in the brain) or in the liver/kidneys (cant quite remember). basically the tumors trigger the glands to produce more hormones which cause the symptoms of cushings (long, curly fur. Bold patches. Pot bellied appearence ect.)

I will try to dig out the fact sheet I did. But there are some pretty good sites on t'internet

Hmm, lots of things going on with my pets...

I just started a line of curly haired mice, and it is going really well. They are going for about $10 each, compared to the $2.25 for regular mice.

I have been working on a line of shiny haired mice, seriously, they seem to glow in the light. And I have pretty much perfected the line, none too many faults in it. They have been going for about $7 each.

I have been breeding mice for years now, and have always had rats, but never bred them. I have ordered a few breeding quality rats and look forward to the experience with breeding them.

I just got a golden retriever puppy and found out the other day that she has a rotten tooth split straight down the middle. -.-

My two adult dogs have become piggies and are going on a diet.

My cat and the puppy are finally starting to get along.

We are getting my rabbit some new toys and a play pen soon, so that should be fun.

The ferrets are going crazy for spring and are now outside most of the time. They just love it.

Oh, and I found out that my new puppy loves to dig up worms and eat them. She also loves the taste of crunchy spiders. eew. No more kisses for a while. -.-

And that's about it. Anything new happens, and I'll post again! =D

Queso: that's good about Ginger I know you'll do your best to take care of her Smile
mash: thanks I found a couple good sites about Cushings.btw I misunderstood. The vet suspects that she has cushings but the blood tests haven't come back yet.
Chilly Girl: good for you.Mice are so cool.Except the one thats in our house right now.I would buy one of your curlys if a) I had more time and b) if I knew anything about mice lol
Your poor doggy. Are they gonna pull the tooth?
New rabbit toys are really fun to buy and then play with.Though Sugarbaby prefers homemade toys to store bought. He especially loves paper towel rolls and pinecones.

Guess what? Every day when we drive to school we pass a cow farm.Well several actually. But this particular one has the most beautiful auburn colored dairy girl(the only one on the herd). Most of the cows were either pregnant or already had babies. We named this girl Audra and couldn't wait to see her baby. One day we were driving past and she was laying on her side straining. That was Friday. We couldn't find her baby yesterday but today he was nursing her.A little black bull. We've decided to call him Nestle because the first time he looked at us he had a milk mustache. lol

My pets....

Ok here goes.

Cody my border collie male is in and out of the vets at the moment due to his back problem.

Babe (the other border) has sprained her leg and so cannot go for walks
Bridie (Border x) has a VERY bad ear problem which she cries whenever we put the medication (ear drops) in.
And ALL dogs are on a diet....

Nothing really going on with the cats..

The ferrets are still a bit messed up with the clocks changing. Tommy is completely crazy and the boys can obviously tell that spring is on the way (if you know what I mean!!!)

But all in all they're ok Very Happy

Sugarbaby was hopping around our living room today. He is so adorable and loving.Cuddles was playing with him too! My cat Midnight was inside the house today strutting her stuff and Moon and Dutchess have been enjoying the good weather. The fish that we are babysitting will be leaving at the end of this month. Emmy's test results came back! She doesn't have Diabetes or Cushings. Very Happy
We still haven't caught the mouse in our house. He tripped a trap without getting caught.I'm glad he hasn't been killed yet but mouse poop in the cupboards isn't very delightful and he chewed a hole in our good oven mitt!

A llama named Bella went to our's friends llama farm to get sheared. They are going to breed her to one of my friends studs too! They were leaning towards a black llama named Onyx or a reverse appaloosa named Sandpiper.Bella's a gentle brown girl. She was at the llama workshop that I went to last week. She was supposed to be sheared there but we got kicked out of the building because of a misunderstanding of the time. lol

Anything new with you or any pets that you know? Smile

Well, currently I don't have any pets, but I'm getting one! :]

I've been researching getting a dog for some years now, slowly coaxing my parents that I'd love him like my child (he actually will be! XD) and be responsible. SO, after they FINALLY (lol) said yes, I started researching breeders, and we found a great one, about 2 hours from my house. Since some breeders aren't what they post like on the internet (puppy mills -.-) we went, and the breeder was SO nice to her dogs, the facility was awesome, and everything was *sigh* perfect.

So it's official. I'm getting a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy! *sqeals* Never been so excited in my life, haha. The puppies will be ready to leave their mother the week of the 14th of May, when they are 8 weeks old.

We've decided to name our puppy Lucas, because, well, my whole family loves the name. I've been contacting some local vets, to see if they can treat larger dogs, and basically everyone I know knows I'm getting a dog. BEYOND excited. :3
